I'm perfectly aware that (other than being part of his general sense of humor) sarcasm was a sort of defense mechanism for Hiccup, one that he used less and less as he got older and became better at defending himself physically as well as not needing to bc.. yknow, he's not a social outcast anymore, but they really couldn't let him stay sassy???
