Based on that previous anon ask, I started wondering what could possibly motivate Saiki to be the one actually wooing Toritsuka, given his general passivity and the Inherent Cringe of liking Toritsuka.

And I think it would almost have to be a life-threatening situation for Saiki to do it hsfjdlshfks. His disastrous ace ass would really rather suppress eternal pining for Toritsuka to making a move on him than actually admit to having feelings lol. Maybe after like 5-10 years of Toritsuka being clueless would Saiki start making moves!

Here's the premise for a situation I thought up though, that would be fun:

Okay so in manga chapter 109, the occult club trip episode, Toritsuka shows off his bedroom, which has been outfitted with the latest in trendy goods.

Where'd he get the money for it? The monks were definitely not financing this, and the only time we see Toritsuka make money is afterwards, in chapter 130, when he charges tourists money to ring the new year's bell.

Toritsuka is obviously not working any sort of job, and it's unlikely that he's straight-up stealing money, so my explanation is that his dad has $$$$$ and occasionally feels a little guilty about sending his son to superhell a random temple, and can be convinced to fork over cash sometimes.

So anyways here's the actual situation: Toritsuka's dad is actually hella rich but Toritsuka has no clue that when his dad kicks the bucket that he's in for a mega inheritance.

However, there's a woman who's figured that out, and she's thinking that if she can trick Toritsuka into marrying her, she can get his dad killed off and then take everything in the divorce by making it seem like he was cheating on her or abusing her or something.

Saiki finds this out when Toritsuka excitedly presents his new girlfriend to him. Saiki would normally just tell him that she was evil, but he catches onto Toritsuka's excited and happy thoughts about finally feeling wanted instead of always being considered trash, and his hope that he'll finally get over his impossible crush on Saiki.

Now Saiki is stuck, because he knows Toritsuka will be completely crushed if he reveals to him that he's still garbage and that girl only wants him for financial reasons. Even if Saiki can trick the girl into admitting the truth, or if he can terrorize the girl into abandoning her scheme and dumping Toritsuka, the end result will still be Toritsuka feeling like shit.

The only way to save Toritsuka's newfound self-esteem would be to convince him to dump her on his own, at which point Saiki can get rid of her more permanently.

And at first, Saiki tries to make her look bad in front of Toritsuka, but this accomplishes nothing because Toritsuka is really determined to hang onto the only girl who's ever accepted him and he's also trying really hard to get over Saiki.

Saiki knows if he just bluntly tells Toritsuka that he likes him, Toritsuka won't believe it, and will (correctly) think that there's some ulterior motive involved. Toritsuka's not THAT stupid.

So there's basically no option left, except wooing Toritsuka so he dumps the girl in favor of Saiki. Saiki has to make it obvious that he really likes Toritsuka and would be open to dating him, but make it subtle enough that Toritsuka doesn't get suspicious.

And you could do this by having Saiki as himself or having Saiki go one step further and approaching Toritsuka as Kuriko, with a different enough look that Toritsuka won't recognize Saiki (and then have a moment where Toritsuka ends up recognizing her anyways because she keeps reminding him of Saiki).

"How would Saiki attempt to woo someone" is already a hilarious question to ponder, but adding in an oblivious Toritsuka makes that even funnier.

Adding this idea to the free real estate pile in case anyone wants to write this lmao.

I thought I'd share my Saiki K playlist. It's just a bunch of songs I like that I think fit him roughly arranged by where I feel like they fall on his character arc. Justifications for my selections under the cut.

I Am a Rock by Simon & Garfunkel: This song really strikes me as affirmations of a deeply lonely person trying to convince themselves that they're better off this way. A good fit for Saiki at the start of the series when he's closed himself off from other people.

The Beast by Spectacle-P: It's about a someone who's been lonely for so long that they've forgotten how lonely they are being offered love but being too proud and full of fear to accept it. I'd quote some of the translated lyrics but I'd just end up putting most of the song here I think. Please watch the subtitled video on youtube and tell me if don't think this isn't a good fit for Saiki.

Nothing at All: Reminds me of early series Saiki's tirades about how much being a psychic sucks where he just describes the symptoms of depression.

Loveless by Steampianist: Honestly I don't remember why I put this on here. Probably because of the feelings of alienation it conveys and how it seems to be about the ace experience of not being able to experience love in the way that society tells you should.

Are You Satisfied by Marina: I think this ones pretty self-explanatory. If I was better at drawing I'd like to make an animatic about the Saiki brothers using this song.

Star of Show: I'll admit this ones a bit more of a stretch and honestly it's mostly on here because I like listening to it when plotting out my fanfic but also "I'm not a freak/I'm not an act/I'm not a deity's performance!" kind of fits with his issues about how his powers affect people's perception of him.

404 by Pinocchio-P: It's about feeling unable to connect to people and like your true-self will be rejected. I also think the little alien guy in the music video for it looks a lot like Kusuo. I actually forgot how good a fit this was until I went and looked at the lyrics again and yup past me was correct in putting it on this playlist.

A Hundred Years Unresolved: It's lonely sounding and I came to associate it with Saiki because like listening to it when I play the Regentquest segment of See You in the Dark. No deeper reason then that.

Oh No! by Marina: Kusuo is the sort of guy to go "I know exactly what I want and who I want to be." You know, like a liar.

The Chattering Lack of Common Sense: I'm not sure how to explain it but I feel like the theme of falseness that runs through the song fits him. It's also worth mentioning that this song is also on my Kuusuke playlist that I'm not sharing here because it isn't as good and frankly it's kind of shameful that I even have a playlist for that guy.

I Am Not a Robot by Marina: Kusuo is vulnerable and lovable even if he doesn't believe that about himself.

God-ish by Pinocchio-P: I'm not sure how well this one fits because frankly this is one of the Pinocchio-P songs I don't feel like I have as solid a handle on the meaning of. I mostly chose it because of the name and because it seems to be a pretty cynical song.

Fear and Loathing by Marina: "Now I see, I see it for the first time / There is no crime in being kind / Not everyone is out to screw you over / Maybe, yeah just maybe, they just want to get to know you" I feel like this is fairly self-explanatory

arms by Christina Perri: I listened to my Pandora stations for the first time in ages recently (well back in August, apparently), heard this and thought "Kubosai song?!" though frankly it would also work well for Nensai or other Saiki ships or even platonically if you ignore some the more romantic lyrics. Though I think it's best suited to the first two listed. Anyway I think this fits Saiki's relationship issues pretty well.

Soap by The Oh Hellos: It's a very hopeful song about how people need other people and you are not unlovable. So I think you can imagine why I thought it was a good song to end the playlist with.

Hello! Sorry this took a while, I've just finished the first half of semester at uni and I'm on break now so I'm catching up on some writing. Hope you like your matchup!

Kusuo is the most caring and loving boyfriend ever. He makes his partner his priority.

He never abuses his powers to help them, unless if he has to, so that they can grow and push through their challenges.

Except on the day that he curiously used clairvoyance to find you when you were absent.

The clairvoyance revealed that you were huddled up in your bedroom, hiding yourself in a blanket cocoon.

That couldn’t be good.

He walked outside to find another random person, since he needs to teleport two things of equal value.

He successfully found someone to trade spots with near your home, immediately doing so.

He knocked on your door, as if he wasn’t planning to show up.

“Shit!“ You cursed under your breath, “Come on in!”

The pink-haired boy had no objections to that. He opened the door and immediately came to your side.

“I sensed a disturbance in the force.” He said in a completely monotone voice.

Assigning each Loona member with an anime, Part 1

Hello, long time no see! Since LООПΔ is giving us a comeback (and I adore them), I thought I’d return with something for them :)

DISCLAIMER: These are only anime that I’ve seen, so if you think an anime fits a member better than the one I chose, let me know!

Heejin- Cowboy Bebop

Like the quote below suggests, she’s a strong woman that’s kicked ass the longest in the group! I felt like an action anime would fit Heejin well, and Cowboy Bebop is regarded often as one of the greatest in that genre. It’s had a huge influence in pop culture internationally, and can visually be recognized easily, just like our beautiful center!

Hyunjin- The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

I promise I’m not just giving one of my top 3 anime to my bias lol. Simply, the humor in Saiki K fits her so well. What I love most about Hyunjin is her unique and charming personality; I love the same things about this anime. I don’t watch comedy anime often, but I absolutely fell in love with this one, and I always find myself going back to it. Also, Hyunjin probably has a glow IRL like Teruhashi does bc she’s gorgeous.

Haseul- Your Name

First off, imagine how well “Let me in” would fit into this movie. Like omg, what a beautiful solo with a beautiful anime. Anyway, Haseul deserves a strong, stunning, incredible movie like Your Name. She’s a fantastic leader who has gone through a lot in her career, and has to carry a huge group on her shoulders. This anime is gorgeous yet devastating, set the bar HIGH for romance movies (in my opinion), and made a large impact on many people. Haseul is insanely important to loona as a group, and we don’t know what we’d do without her.

Yeojin- Hunter x Hunter

I am so dead set on this one, no one can convince me otherwise. It’s just perfect for our fun-loving and talented maknae! One thing that really drove me to pick this one was that, like Yeojin, Gon and Killua clearly mature and grow throughout Hunter x Hunter. Given that she’s the youngest member, we’ve gotten to see her turn into a beautiful young woman who never fails to impress me when she’s on stage (like honestly, she’s so underrated come on). Similarly, the main characters in this anime are constantly growing and learning and have been through way too much as children kinda like how Yeojin lost her childhood.

ViVi- Wonder Egg Priority

This anime deserved better. You know who else deserves better? WONG KAHEI FROM LOONA!!! I cannot think about Wonder Egg Priority without remembering its god awful ending, just like how I constantly think about my BIAS NOT GETTING ANY SCREEN TIME OR LINES!!! “Jokes” aside, the little we got from WEP was visually stunning, tragic, and incredible. On top of that, the main girls have it ROUGH; like, this anime is genus only hard to watch sometimes. Need I remind y’all that Vivi arguably had the hardest training period, having released a full Korean solo while STILL LEARNING KOREAN? No one is doing it like her.

Kim Lip- Demon Slayer

I will not lie, Kim Lip was the hardest to give an anime to. I tossed Demon Slayer around to a few members, but I chose it for her due to the impact that both have. I think a lot of orbits can agree with me that Kim Lip single-handedly helped the group rise to fame. A song with NASA? The phrase “Loona is for the gays” coming from Eclipse? Of course I’m giving her one of the most popular anime of our time. Eclipse fancams were as common on Twitter as Nezuko cosplays are at anime conventions. She’s an ace, she’s a great leader (don’t forget how her and Yves stepped up when Haseul was out), and she has a unique and infectious personality! Thank you for your service, Kim Lip.
