Abelia - do you have a particular piece of jewelry you always wear or can’t part with?

First of all, I didn’t know what abelia was and it turns out they are those evergreen bushes in designed landscapes that get little star shaped flowers and I’m always like “what are those???” And now I know so hey, that’s something I’ve currently learned!

Anyway. I have a bunch of jewelry I would be really upset to lose, but nothing I always wear. I did go through phases where I wore the same pendant necklaces all the time even in the shower for a few years, only swapping them seasonally or for special occasions. I used to be a watch wearing person but once I succumbed to the ubiquity of cell phones and my old watch died I haven’t gotten a new one. When I think of my jewelry collection and try to pick the pieces I would be devastated not having anymore, there are only maybe a dozen, and most of them are heirlooms. My family is partially Jewish old money so we have been passing some things down since our mothers sewed gems into the lining of their fur coats on the boats to America before WWII. I don’t have any of those because my mom still has them but I have some things from my great grandma that I never wear and would never sell but if I lost them my ancestors would rise from the grave and harass me like I’m in Fiddler on the Roof.

I have a too-long string of beautiful Hawaiian black pearls that my aunt got when she lived in Kauai and were given to me after she died way too young. There’s the tiny gold heart shaped locket with a diamond chip on the front that my grandma gave me when I was only about three and I could put it on a chain that fits me but I don’t want to. There’s the elegant string of graduated petite pearls that my evil grandmother got me when I turned 30 and is probably the only time she gave me a gift that wasn’t snide in some way. I have a whole little pile of earrings from my older cousin who I was obsessed with as a little kid, they are all eighties-tacular, with colorful metal hearts and stars and moons with more smaller ones dangling from the larger ones, which I often wear to cons and parties and always get compliments on. My (non evil) grandma also left me her collection of cloisonné enamel pins, I have two gorgeous butterflies, a frog, a fish, a ship and an elephant in shades of green and cerulean and gold plate. I have her mother of pearl carved pendant that has delicate scenes of Chinese landscapes on each side. I have the pink Venetian glass circle my grandfather brought back from Italy for me, and Grandma’s jade bracelet made of cream, evergreen, and peach colored beads. There is the rainbow glass and silver bracelet my childhood best friend gave me as a birthday present after we moved away from each other that goes with literally every outfit I assemble. I think that’s all but two of the ones I would be devastated to lose.

The other two are the ones I thought of immediately when I read the question.

When I turned 21 my parents gave me a present. They knew I was going through a lot of complicated stuff and struggling and they know I’ve always hated diamonds and always had mixed feelings about gender, but in my family 21 is the age that typically girls are given a gift that is something that can become an heirloom. Like a really nice diamond necklace or a big fuck off cocktail ring or something to like, wear to a cotillion or whatever the fuck old timey people did, you know? My parents knew I was not about that life. They also knew that despite my coloring pointing to silver looking the “best” on me I’ve always preferred gold and copper and brass. So if they didn’t know me at all they would have given me like, a silver diamond tennis bracelet, and I was dreading it.

But my parents came to visit me at college and I was in their hotel room and my mom pulled out a jewelry case, and she said “I remembered how much you always liked my fire opal ring, and you’re really an adult now, and we trust you to take care of nice things, and you don’t wear rings, so we found this for you. If you don’t like it we can return it and get something else, okay? Or just money.” And in that box was a nice gold chain with an opal pendant. It’s simple, oval, about two inches tall and an inch across, with an incredible rainbow flash with fire orange at the top and a beautiful spectrum of blues and greens inside a creamy flecked stone. The setting is simple and modern, and it’s gold, and I’ve worn it to almost every wedding and formal special occasion ever since. It doesn’t catch on my clothes or hair, it’s just the right length, it feels so nice to hold. The clasp of the pendant clips open and closed so I can put it on different chains really easily or convert it to another piece of jewelry like a pin or earring very simply.

The thing about opals is that although I love them, they are fragile. You can’t get them wet or greasy, they are hard to clean, they can shatter and chip. My parents trusted me with something that was an embodiment of my personal and atypical taste, worth a truly significant amount of money, and something fragile, that I’ll have to care for in a particular way for the rest of my life. And they also gave it to me with no expectation of me accepting or even liking it, but trying their best. So it means a lot and if I ever have to board a boat for another country with valuables sewn into my clothing, it’s the first thing I’m sewing in.

The second one is a blue moonstone pendant in a silver setting I bought from a jewelry booth at my town’s summer festival when I was fifteen for like ten bucks. It’s what I would often wear for months at a time. It’s the birthstone of the boy I was in love with for years, but I loved him in the wrong way. It became kind of a talisman for me about, like, anhedonia. Anhedonia is the inability to feel pleasure and I’ve struggled with depression since I was eleven years old. I think that I bought the necklace not to express my obsession with the boy so much as to be able to hold on to something physical to remind myself that I’m capable of happy feelings. Because just being around him when he was happy, being able to share the things he liked or bring him something new he enjoyed, that made me so joyful. Like yes I also wanted to kiss his face off and live happily ever after but in retrospect what I really wanted was to always feel about life how I felt about life when I was around him. He couldn’t ever love me back the way I thought I wanted him to. If only we’d been able to see what was happening from a distance. We were best friends for a few years but too many of those were tainted by my unrequited feelings and his conflict between wanting to make me happy, hating himself, and being afraid of expressing what was wrong for fear of hurting everyone. So I still wear my simple blue stone necklace all the time because it’s like blue jeans and goes with all my clothes, but even at almost forty I will sometimes hold it, and think, we were two people going through almost the same thing, but I had someone who broke through my anhedonia, and he didn’t. We could have been such better friends. We could have helped each other so much more. I could have let go of my obsession and still loved his presence in my life, and he would have been free of the burden I unduly laid on his teenaged back. And maybe he would still be in my life. Maybe I would have been someone he could have reached out to. Never, ever, ever, give the key to your happiness to anyone but yourself. I bought that necklace because it was a pretty color with a little flash, and it reminded me of feeling happiness when I was surrounded by funnel cakes and fireworks and felt almost nothing. When I piled all those other symbols onto it, I heaped them onto someone who didn’t ask for them, without even talking about it, who could never have carried those symbols the way I wanted. It’s just a cheap stone on a simple chain, and I can love it, but I can’t expect anything more from it.

Doing What's Best (G, ~800 words)

Lucius looked down at the little bundle currently sleeping in Narcissa's arms and felt terror shoot through his body. A little boy, his hair so white it was nearly invisible. Born only a few hours ago, taking his first breath in the light of the rising sun. Narcissa had whispered a welcome, her eyes wet, her smile bigger than ever. But they both knew, even though temporarily safe, he really wasn't. Draco was born into a world ruled by war. If only it'd end soon.

After the war Draco Malfoy is sentenced to Azkaban for a really long sentence. Apparently aiding in Dumbledore's death overrules any argument Harry could put up for him. After the trial, as the days pass by, Harry is more and more outraged at the sentence. He can't stop obsessing over the fact that Draco Malfoy saved his life and aided him during the war and is very much capable of redemption. Not to mention that Malfoy has always been a delicate git and would never survive Azkaban. After a few weeks obsessing Harry decides that Malfoy indeed can't remain unjustly in Azkaban and starts to plot a way to break him out of jail and hide him in Grimmauld Place. When Hermione finds out she's not amused. Ron is horrified. Draco still thinks he's hallucinating.

Keep Holding On (Wireless, M. 33.333) A collab with @maesterchill​ who surprised me with lovely art for it!

After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry and Draco both fall into their own battles with their mental states. Draco is sent to Azkaban, and Harry turns to drinking, hoping to forget. Months later, Harry visits St Mungo’s new ward on the request of a friend, only to find Draco in a deep vegetative state. Not willing to give him up, Harry stays by his side, while simultaneously dealing with the Ministry's newest grand idea to make everything worse. Making new allies, and losing old ones along the way, will hopefully be worth it in the end.

Married for decades, their life is perfect. Until Harry gets a call and hears the following words: "Mr Potter, we caught your husband stealing ten large packs of King Sized condoms."

There was still hope (Hurt Fest, M, 3.1k)

Draco winced as pain shot through his leg with every step. This secret, back-alley laboratory had been his last chance, last hope, to find the potion. But nobody had it in stock, and there was no time left to brew it himself. Panic was slowly overtaking his entire mind as he crept out of the store and back to the nearest alley to Apparate back home. He already felt off, and it was still early in the day. Of course this thestral-shit had to happen to him, of all people. As if life wasn't bad enough for him already.

Desire (E, 1.7k)

"Auror Potter, what a pleasant surprise to meet you here. What can I do for you?" "Stop the show, Malfoy. There's no one around, and I'm not here as an Auror." Draco watched Potter move closer until they were nearly nose to nose, only the small counter of his shop kept Potter at distance. Potter's eyes were dark with something Draco couldn't exactly name, his face was flushed and the air surrounding him felt somehow static. Draco felt the urge to lean further over his counter, to drink in his sight, to touch the man on the other side—but he didn't.

All Harry had wanted from his Eighth year at Hogwarts was a little peace and a little privacy but, from the moment that he stepped onto Platform 9 3/4, it was obvious that nothing was ever going to be that easy. An accidental bond with Malfoy that resulted in them having to stay together at all times was the final straw. Things couldn't be worse. So much to a quiet year in Hogwarts.

Love letters for the oblivious (Mini Wireless, T, 716 words)

Draco had gotten the strangest letters all week long, which wasn't what anyone needed at Christmas. Especially not him. Either someone was taking the piss, or he had a very dumb and inefficient secret admirer. And Draco didn't know which would be worse.

Finally, peace and quiet, and— "Malfoy?!?" Or the one where Harry thought he could enjoy a quiet Christmas far from everyone, just to find out that the cabin he had booked already accommodated another guest.

I found a lot of lovely friends in this fandom, and got to keep them through this year

My cats are their usual little jerks and actually enjoyed me being at home due to the raging pandemic

I finally cut off my hair

Today was supposed to be special, yet the entire day everyone was so preoccupied with their own little lives that no one had even bothered to remember it was your birthday today. It was absolutely miserable. All the while your boyfriend Dwayne was currently tucked away at the abandoned hotel hiding away from the sunlight. Bursting into flames was certainly an occupational hazard. By this point the whole vampirism thing had come and gone, and while it did frighten you, nothing was more frightening than being without your dark crow.   

Rather than stay at home to be ignored you opted to go out for the afternoon, browsing shops for a special occasion. No, not yourself. See, as luck would have it, June 23rd also held significance to Dwayne. Marko, one of the younger members of the coven, had told you two weeks prior it would be Dwayne’s birthday as well. You had to keep your own secret. Not at their request, but your own. Overshadowing his birthday would be dreadful, you hated the idea of taking it from him. Besides, no one remembered anyways. 

Weaving through brightly lit shops, you pondered each piece wondering what would suit him best. Clothes were out, maybe a new skateboard? Just looking at the little white tags stuck to the back of them made you cringe. Okay, so that was out. You weren’t made of money. 

There was an old mystic shop selling a handful of oddities, somewhere called Madame Medusa’s Mystical Boutique. A few interesting necklaces caught your eye, but one seemed to be directly calling you. It was a crow skull attached to a leather cord, bordered by two carved red beads on either side. Two thick black feathers were wedged between the beads. Gently you slipped it off the hook, running your thumb over the chilled, smooth surface. 

“It’s a lovely item, isn’t it,” an elderly woman asked. Truthfully she startled you from behind the counter, almost making you jump a few good inches. 

“O-Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t see-”

“Don’t worry dear, hardly anyone does,” she chuckled, tenderly plucking the skull from your hand. “Shall I wrap this up for you?”

“Oh- Well I wasn’t, I mean it’s nice but-,” you stuttered, but already she was shuffling towards the counter again. Boy pushy woman. You didn’t even know how much it cost, you weren’t exactly on a budget but you couldn’t be going on any big spending sprees.

“Hush now. He’s going to be waiting for you, somewhere nearby. I can guarantee that this is the one you’re meant to give him,” she insisted, wrapping the necklace under aged brown paper. 

“Yeah, I’m sure he’d like it but-,” you couldn’t help but trail off. How- How did she know?

The woman pushed the little baggie your way, giving a tender smile before she began to hobble towards a curtained room behind the counter.

“W-Wait, I didn’t even pay for it!”

She waved off your concern, looking behind her shoulder while she parted the curtains in her path. 

“Consider it a present from those who neglected you. Take it to him, you’ll see..” And with that she vanished behind them, leaving you stunned where you stood. Silently you glanced down at the small plastic bag, almost jumping in place when a dusty old grandfather clock began to ring through the store. One, two, three, four, five, six. Oh! It was already six o’clock. Crap the boys would be up any minute!

It didn’t take too long to spot the gang of vampires sitting on the worn, wooden banisters talking amongst themselves. Dwayne was just as eager to spot you, sweeping between the boys and lifting you up in his arms. “Happy birthday, princess,” He gushed, planting tender kisses all over your cheeks.

“How did you know? I didn’t-”

“My bad,” Marko spoke up. He leaned back from behind Paul to wave your way, as if he were waving a flag of defeat. Damn. You weren’t even sure how Marko figured out your birthday in the first place, there was just no keeping secrets from that guy! 

Dwayne set you down, although he carried a much more concerned expression this time. “Why keep it a secret in the first place, Y/N?”

You fiddled with the bag still clutched in your hand with eyes cast downward towards your feet hoping a good excuse could get you out of just admitting you’d rather play backseat. But, you didn’t. Not that you couldn’t come up with any excuses. Rather, you didn’t want to be sidelined even for your boyfriend’s birthday. It was yours too, and for the past several years it seemed like you were constantly being set aside so that other things could happen. Your sister’s wedding, that trip to Colorado your parents took, grandma and grandpa visiting, your brother’s soccer games- everything seemed to take precedence over the celebration of the day you were born. And worst of all is you never got your Sixteen Candles happy ending. No one would really recognize they screwed up. You wouldn’t be apologized to with tearful shock when your parents realized they forgot your birthday, your friends- if you could even call them that at this point- wouldn’t try to cheer you up, and there was no handsome crush ready with a birthday cake to make it all go away. It’s like Dwayne already knew your feelings because before you could get a word in he pulled you into a crushing hug. Your head pressed against his chest. Sometimes you forgot he had no heartbeat and instead only listened to him rumble when he spoke to you.

“Just because today is for me, doesn’t mean it isn’t for you too, princess.” 

Those words hit you harder than you anticipated. Your throat felt as if it were swelling, dry with each labored swallow, and a tight pressure squeezed the bridge of your nose. Inevitable tears eagerly rushed down your while burnt cheeks. 

Dwayne only held you in place. He never let go until you were the one ready to release him, wiping away those pesky droplets of emotion staining you. “Now, I was saving this for when we took you to the hotel…,” he began with his hand jammed into his jacket pocket, rustling around for whatever it was he needed. “But, I figure maybe you need it now.”

A thick banded ring of aged silver sat in his calloused palm, an oval cut of turquoise clasped in place by a weaving border. Veins of black and copper split through chunks of blue-green paths. Rather hold it out to you, Dwayne tenderly took your hand into his own to slip the hefty piece over your ring finger. It nestled perfectly in place and you couldn’t help but let out a breathless laugh, slinging your arms over his neck. He already knew what to expect. Iron arms engulfed your waist and lifted you up. His stubble scratched the edges of your mouth when you crashed your lips into his. The sensation was overwhelming. It wasn’t just that he got you this, it was what he had gotten you. 

Dwayne had often told you myths and lore on lazy nights when the hunting grew slow and the hours were long. Once you found yourself admiring a very similar cut of jewelry decadently adorned with many fine cuts of turquoise, finding your curiosity piqued when asking him what the significance was to all these pieces. Why was it such a commonly used stone in so much jewelry, especially with Native American tribes.

“From what I can remember,” Dwayne thought back at the time, leaning over you to admire the pricey baubles kept protected under a thick sheet of glass “, my grandmother told me that every tribe has always valued it. I mean, they all have their reasons. It’s a powerful gem that carries protection, life and strength. I’ve even seen it change colors depending on where you find it. I hardly ever saw it though when I was alive, even back then it cost a fortune.”

But now, through one way or another he’d remembered how you admired them from afar, yearning to have a ring like that of your very own. The one to five hundred dollar price tags always scared you off whenever you’d come to find them in stores- at least, the real ones. For once you didn’t care how Dwayne had acquired your gift. Gift! Oh!

“Oh, hold on,” You interjected between kisses with the little bag presented before him. “I um, got you something too. From that crazy lady in the mystic items shop!”

A warmth spread through your chest watching him lay the necklace over, the skull placing perfectly atop his many others. It suited him perfectly. 

The whole night was just perfect. You spent the entire time going on rides with the boys after they spoiled you for dinner, later dragging you to the hotel where you realized what Dwayne meant earlier. There were streams of colored paper hanging off the rafters and old piping, red balloons tied to the furniture, and a banner of paper reading out “Happy Birthday Dwayne and Y/N” written in big, red marker letters. You couldn’t even make a wish when they brought out a cake for the both of you. After all, what more could be asked? They had already given you the most perfect birthday you could have ever hoped for.

Do you like eating chocolate covered cherries or strawberries? I don’t like fruits, so no. I like chocolate-covered unhealthy stuff though, hahah.

What does your 9th text say in your outbox? Ughhhh I remember this tab being in my old cellphones but I can’t quite remember if this is referring to texts I’ve sent, or my drafts. Anyway, my phone doesn’t store text drafts and I can no longer recall my 9th last sent text.

Ever had a really scary dream? Tell me about it. I’ve had loads of nightmares but my least favorites have always been the ones where someone I love is shot and they had to pass away in my arms. Out of all my scary dreams, those are the ones that send me crying in my sleep/as soon as I wake up.

Where is the coolest place you've been on vacation? Vigan was great because it really felt like visiting a 17th-century town. Singapore and Shanghai were also fun because it felt cool going to places much richer than ours and getting to interact with technologies that we will never get to have here HAHA

Would you rather have salad or french fries for a side dish? Erm, unless the salad has spicy tuna in it, fries all the way please.

Ever been to California? Did you like it? No. Idk, it’s not the first place on my list if I am to visit the US though. Places in the East Coast and the Midwest personally appeal more to me - and I’m fully aware it’s because they’re well-known for being passionate wrestling hubs.

What's your favorite thing about the town you live in? I live right smack on the boundary between the more urban sprawl of Manila and the quieter, more peaceful and quaint mountain part of my city. It’s very easy to access either depending on what I’m in the mood for.

Do you like Mexican food? What's your favorite dish to eat? It’s great, but not my top favorite cuisine. My favorite dishes would have to be fajitas and chimichangas.

Favorite kind of pizza is? Quattro formaggi all the wayyyy. You’ll never see me ordering anything else.

Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? If so, how long have you been dating? No.

Any brothers or sisters? Do they make you mad? I have one of each. My sister will sometimes piss me off, but it dies down quick. My brother did something unforgivable to me two years ago so that’s how long I have been constantly mad at him.

Are you nosy? Eh, sometimes? For the most part I know my place though. I let people share the amount they’re willing to, and very rarely do I try to pry.

Ever been to a bar? What was it like? Sure, had my fair share of favorites too when going out was still a normal thing. For me, bars are the best if I’m with the right mix of people. If I’m in a crowd I’m not necessarily close with, it can definitely dampen the experience as I will only be feeling awkward. The people in the bar will sometimes be a factor too – I will most likely feel annoyed if I’m somewhere that’s clearly populated by high schoolers or college freshies as they can get super rambunctious and loud.

Are you old enough to drink? Yes, have been for the last 4 (almost 5) years.

What's your favorite kind of flower? I enjoy looking at peonies.

Would you rather have pasta or chicken? Right now, probs chicken - preferably chicken wings because that sounds the most fucking yummmmmm rn. We’ve been having pasta a bit too much at home so it would’t hurt to skip it for now.

Have you ever dated someone, but made them not tell anyone about it? Yeah. Gabie and I got back together in our final months of high school. We were about to graduate and it was crucial we kept our record clean so that the school won’t strip us of our diploma and prohibit us from marching (it was Catholic school, sooo homophobia and stuff). Because of that, we had to keep it secret for about a month and a half. As soon as I got home from the ceremony and my family dinner, I shared the news on social media. So I didn’t exactly make her keep it secret - it was a mutual understanding.

What's the meanest thing you have done to a friend? I honestly can’t recall a time i deliberately set out to be an ass to someone I considered a friend. The one thing I can recall was accidentally misgendering Andi when I was still getting used to their pronouns, but I didn’t do it on purpose.

Why did you and your last ex break up? She wasn’t ready, she wasn’t down for commitment, and she felt suffocated having only been in a relationship throughout her late teen and early adult years. She really made herself sound like such a victim and she made it sound like commitment is the biggest sin, and so I blamed myself a lot during the first few months of our breakup; but I’ve since made a conscious effort to turn my mindset around and convince myself that I’m not at fault. Have you ever had a really bad fight with a best friend? Angela and I only had petty fights and our last one was in like 5th grade. Gab and I got into heavy arguments, but only when we were in a relationship and never as friends.

for context: everything started when my best friend officiated her relationship w her current bf who she met through tinder, and she told me I should download the app.

so there goes little naive lily, giving tinder a try. and then, in january I finally met this guy, M.

the first time we talked we spent hours getting to know like the basic of each other (age, what we study, birthdays, etc) and we went to sleep at like 5 am because he had to do something at 8 am.

he asked for my twitter as another way to talk to me in the daily and i gave it to him, then he finally asked me out and i said yes, so we went to the movies and watched parasite, he behaved like a true gentleman and everything, but since we were just meeting each other i wasn't sure if i liked him or not, and since everything had felt somewhat awkward i was like 🤷‍♀️ ur funny, i guess i'll keep talking to you.

then 2 weeks after that first date i was omw to visit my grandma and he told me he liked me a lot, and tbh i've never had a bf or anything serious so i panicked, really panicked. my granny asked me if i was alright cuz when i got to her home she said i looked v pale, couldnt blame her andkjkna i got scared because i felt like it was too soon to say something like that and too quick and i was so overwhelmed.. so i told him I'd rather focus on school. and days after that i blocked him ajdnaka

time skip to may after my bd when I got bad news and i had a strong moment of realization: i unblocked him and apologized profusely, explained the situation and some other context that's not relevant anymore and he was v understanding, so we started talking everyday until august when he was sad and that time it was him who blocked me ajnska i really was like "ok it is how it is then"

heres another time skip to the final days of september when I was busy preparing for kinktober and also trying to keep my grades up. one day a friend sent me something through twitter dms and i saw that he had unlocked me so i went and was like "ayyy u ok? how u doin?" and since then we've been talking everyday (no more blocking this time ajnska)

but by this time i had realized that i did actually like him because whenever i saw a stupid meme it reminded me of him and his stupid humor and I though "oh what would M say about this?" 💀💀💀 yeah. 

u can't imagine how sad i got when he told me he was going to leave the city.

and after that oh boi, was I surprised when one day he  asked me if I wanted to be his gf out of the blue. i obv said yes, because i wanted to, because i really liked him. and then, five minutes later M said "im sorry but i don't want your first relationship to be through the internet" and you know what? i knew he was right, but that HURTTTTT, MY POOR LIL HEART 🥺

anyway. he asked me on a date again in november, we went to eat then he "taught me" how to drive (ive been learning but he didn't know that, AND HE STILL LET ME DRIVE HIS CAR, CAN YOU BELIEVE? wow) so everything went nicely and then he dropped me near my bus stop. i remember i told him i had a gift for him (it was a chocolate) and the face he made when I gave it to him ajdnaka

later that same day he asked me if i had arrived home and how i was doing; i asked him abt the gift and he said he was expecting a kiss AJNDKAKA i knew it was what he wanted, but my mask was pink (it matched the hair i had) and it was really pretty so I didn't want to take it off 🤷‍♀️,,, ok, moving on, he revealed to me that the reason he was leaving the city was bc he didn't thought that he would have a chance w me and that it made him sad so he opted for leaving and starting again from zero. and i got so mad. because. this is the second time something like this happens to me. second time. i wish I was joking.

anyway. he knew that im not a virgin so he asked me one day if i was down to fuck and i said yeah why not. lets do it. our previous date was supposed to go that way too but he apologized and said that he didn't want to do it anymore, i told him it was ok and that i wouldn't be mad at him, i respected his choice and i know what it feels like to be anxious about that, theres nothing bad in saying no last minute.

well, his bd is tmrw, and we were supposed to meet in a hotel to do our business, but at the end i,,, i couldn't do it. so i told him that i was really sorry and he said that he was expecting something like that to happen. WHICH IS SURPRISING BECAUSE I WAS V SURE I WANTED TO DO IT 😓

When was the last time you were in pain? Did you take a painkiller? Last Saturday when I stubbed my toe and it made my nailbed bleed. Nah, I just dabbed tissue on it and covered it up a Band-Aid. It didn’t really need one, but I placed one anyway so that I didn’t have to see the cut.

What was the last question that someone else asked you? I was showing my mom some photos of the typhoon’s aftermath in our city and she was asking me where exactly one of the photos was taken. Is there a specific song that you always request at parties? What is it? Eh, not really. I let other people take over the music. Sometimes my friends will request Paramore for me hehehehe and it’s always nice when everyone ends up enjoying whatever song by them is played. But I’m personally often too shy myself to do the requesting because I’m scared it’ll turn out to be a flop.

What was the last thing someone said or did, that made you chuckle? So we have a card game at home wherein each card has a certain category and the game is simply a race to come up with an example under that category. So for example if the game master pulls out a card that says ‘fruit,’ you wanna be the first person to yell apple or orange or something. Anyway, my family pulled it out again because of the current power outage, and while we were playing earlier my mom excitedly yelled “CEREAL” when the category was “breakfast cereal.” All of us died laughing.

Who was the last relative you visited? My grandma. Needed to pick up the box of revel bars that my uncle had made for my mom.

Has anything fallen out of your pocket at any time recently? My vape pen. Luckily I was in my room because I would’ve been a dead daughter if it fell out in front of my parents. Do you have any books that you plan to read sometime soon? Yeah. I plan to resume Midnight Sun one of these days. It’s just a little hard at the moment because I first got it and read it during a rough phase two months ago...opening the book just brings back the memories. It’ll be a while before I’m able to dissociate from those thoughts and enjoy the book. Did anything disturb your sleep at all last night? Yes, the typhoon. The wind was loud enough to wake me up.
