tropey maxiel :)
TROPEY MAXIEL IS WHEN I LOST MY MIND and was like hey what if. what if i wrote a drabble for every track off of folklore. and then i was like WAIT what if i. wrote like a fucking drabble PYRAMID for folklore. so track 1 = 100 words track 2 = 200 words etc. bc i am not in my right mind. but i made it a diamond instead of a pyramid (up to 600 words then back down to 100 i think) bc i was not THAT much out of my right mind. and THEN like uhhh over a year ago soup writers inc. my beloved had a trope fest and one of the bingo squares was "tropey maxiel" and i thought to myself what is more tropey than taylor swift maxiel songfic. and now it's half done just sitting in my drive smh.
anyway here's track 2 (cardigan) in 200 words of the purplest prose u can imagine
Max had been young when he’d become teammates with Daniel. Very young. He knows that better now than ever.  The one thing he still thinks everyone gets wrong about him, though, was the assumption that he hadn’t known what he was getting into when he signed on with Red Bull.  “I still race the same as I always have,” he says.  “You knew nothing,” they don’t say. “You were so young. How could you have known?” But racing is in more than just his blood. It’s in his breath and his bones, drilled into his body, written into his mind. Max knows the car. He knows himself. He knows Daniel, too. Has always known him. From the pull of his mouth when they shook hello, to the curve of his braking points on the timesheet, to the certainty of his presence, always there while they were teammates. Max knew him then and he knows him now. Even when he’d known nothing, he’d known Daniel, maybe just as well as he knows the other constants in his life.  Daniel is in his blood and his breath and his bones. Max wraps the knowledge around himself and lets it settle over him.
