something about the common fan hc “Sonic is repressed” i just. dont like.

like i can see why ppl get that when they watch him but idk man. Sonic’s behavior isnt him repressing everything its him being heroic and always looking ahead and towards the future. He isn’t one to mope around! Mr. “If you have the time to worry, then run”

#also his entire archetype comes from japanese culture #the free as the wind aloof hero who does what his heart thinks is right #the oldest example ive personally seen with that trope is Tomorrow's joe #which ran from 1968 to 1973 #so calling it repressed feels ignorant of the broader picture #kinda something that got lost in translation. like silvers personality #anyways it makes me sad bc i find him heroic for those traits #but ofc thats j my personal opinion. like sonic i too value the freedom of others to do whatever the fuck they want #vio is short for violence
