#anyways i queued a storytelling thing earlier w my rant abt how the writers who prioritize shock over story are doing it wrong

me, everytime i take my friends to see de/tective p/ikachu: see this is a movie that prioritizes the characters and the universe over ‘surprising the audience’ because even with the twists it has (that I guessed from thr trailers but my friends have all been like ‘wait what’ w so that means they are surprises to other people) you can steadily pick up on all the pieces in the entire movie to put the end together as it gets there which, in turn, leads to good storytelling, good plot, good balance of emotions and hilarity, good animation, and good character arcs. and, if youre like me and have seen all the anime up to black n white, all the movies up until after darkrai, a good portion of the manga up to sinnoh, all the games except those on the switch, and are an avid detective movie fan, you can pick up on every single minuscule reference that you dont need to understand to enjoy it but being able to recognize them does make you incredibly proud of yourself!!!
