i do feel like. to understand why jordanna was written Like That in bg09 (as an evil strawman sorority-type girl who exists to be the worse reflection of steph--she's the unnecessarily catty to steph's justifiably snarky, the artificial slutty to steph's effortless, natural, and authentic sexiness, the fundamental unlikeable to steph's likeability, nothing but an antagonist of bad qualities to steph's good qualities) you do need to understand that in the year of our lord 2009 they were taking inspiration for a female led comic book about a girl in college from gossip girl.

#this is also why steph's characterization is altered to be that of a CW heroine #anyways jordanna doesn't have a consistent character because her only role was to be That Girl #the one who exists solely to showcase the good qualities of the protagonist #bqm really thought he probably making a georgina sparks and by god he was just being sexist #and tbf to bg09 a lot of the sexist pitfalls are there because of the surrounding cultural mores of the era #but just as cw shows of the era were. super sexist. so very very sexist.#bg09 also demonstrates the same issues the prevailing media of the time did #anyways mmm i feel like the cw of it all is why i end up so harsh on it sometimes lol #i mean. i have enjoyed cw shows in my time. but god. i hate them so much too <3 #anyways i just. want so much more for jordanna lmao. or any of the side characters #all the people. they all exist as cw side characters in the book. all of them. every one.
