other pet peeve is when people think that the protagonist is someone we inherently have to side with even when the narrative is not doing that
#there is a whole trope about villain protagonists#now when people try to claim this trope to excuse a poorly written protagonist who does some really shitty things but the narrative condones#it#thats another thing#but like this is 101 shit guys cmon#especially for adult novels. like i guess i kinda get it for media aimed at a younger demographic#because the goal there is to have a relatable role model protagonist#but for adults? cmon we’re grown ass people. we can handle it when a protagonist is evil#anyways go read yellowface by rf kuang if you havent already its SUUUUCH a good example of villain protagonist#echoed voice
