it's funny bc like. usually with anime/other japanese franchises I'll be like "why are people calling these characters white. aren't they supposed to be japanese?" but with pokemon there's different regions that are almost 1 to 1 with several real world locations so it's like "yeah this british guy is probably white"

#there's exceptions of course like. brycen is american but I also think he's probably japanese bc he wears something like a modified kimono #it could be a different piece of cultural clothing that I don't know about but bulbapedia doesn't rly talk about his appearance :/#also from unova is clay whose ancestor is indigenous japanese #I'm not sure if indigenous japanese populations in pokemon are 1 to 1 with ainu people given that there's more than 1 of them #and probably more that haven't been introduced yet given how pokemon regions work #anyway. speaking of. volo isn't white he's indigenous ok? this is like. not even subtext #he basically just says it out loud
