I think the delayed reaction I'm having to the finale is that. The whole erasure makes no sense. Live peacefully? without any memory, even of his own father??? he doesn't want to forget and they don't want him to forget either. Until the very last second he asks Sonoi to be his memory because he wants to be with them. Emotionally, it hit me like a fucking train, I'm a sobbing mess now just thinking about it, but the donbrothers accepting Tarou's deletion just bothers me.

The donbrothers I know would go down to hell itself to get their asshole leader back because he's earned that sort of loyalty. I want to believe Tarou being back, being literally the white rabbit coming back through the looking glass means he's still Tarou not that small miserable boy who had just lost his reason for happiness and everybody he ever loved that left the oden cart. I want to believe the movie will do something about this because it's??? the most insane system the don clan came up so far?? did they assume their heirs would never be happy on their own? is this going to happen to Jirou too? because that's unacceptable. Did the points come into play? does filling your gamer points clean slate you like a tetris line? I get Tarou losing the don momotaro part of him, he always was bothered by it (it was painful strength) but losing everything is excessive??? and probably traumatic?? He still wandered into Donbura out of muscle memory but can't remember all the days they spent there. That's horrifying. I want to know who came up with that and i want them to kick their ass.

i know, I know, trying to make sense of the donbrothers worldbuilding is a fool's errand but. I feel there's a passage missing in how it worked out. They better get him back this summer. That peaceful life is fake and unwanted and Tarou deserves to be happy for real.

anyway i have to suspend disbelief and believe White Rabbit Tarou has retained his memories at least partially and his smile was of recognition or the whole card castle falls on me
