I become so intractably stressed during election season and it's especially frustrating because there's nothing I can do about it. When something is bothering me, what usually helps me the most is to do something to try to make it better. Unfortunately for me, I have essentially no outlet by which to make this problem better. I've already voted early, but also I live in Indiana so I have limited confidence in how much good that can do on a grand scale. Typically my options for Things To Do to make myself feel better would be donating to campaigns that matter to me or doing some kind of voter outreach to make it so it's not just me making the problem better. Unfortunately for me, I'm flat broke and also when I try to talk politics with people I stop making facial expressions and start saying things like, "I believe the American people should enter a Dionysian frenzy and tear [name of conservative politician redacted] limb-from-limb in the streets" and that is typically not conducive to productive discussion.
#i also say things like this about the faceless corporate entities that decided to put sesame in all the breads#i am a vegetarian and have trouble carrying a gallon of milk for more than a few minutes so my threats should be taken with a grain of salt#but when i get sufficiently worked up i do start hollering that i am going to eat people#anyway this has been an almost 1am vent post while i wait for my melatonin and benadryl to kick in#i have had a very stressful day so i am not regulating particularly well as it is#us politics//#me posts
