by the way the outcast chronicles (the books are called besieged, exile, and sanctuary) by rowena cory daniels is this... rather obscure fantasy trilogy that i only read because a friend of mine gifted me the first book, and she picked it at random because it had a cool cover (daenerys looking lady). this trilogy has been stuck in my brain ever since. the setting crams an asoiaf-esque human medieval fantasy population together with a high concept not-really-elves race with a very distinct culture and magic abilities together on the same continent. i just really really liked a lot of stuff these books did. maybe it was because i had read asoiaf and it felt like these books were playing with the zeitgeist of it. maybe because books with gay shit in it was still a novelty to me in 2015. the only person i ever convinced to read these was the friene who had gifted it to me

The Temptations Of The Flesh Does Nothing For Him. about as textually implied to be ace as u could be #and then at some point some lady who hero worships him immediately takes him to bed and they're just dating after that???#it was just really jarring and didn't feel fair to either of their narratives #there ARE several gay relationships but a lot of them feel like they play second fiddle to the Main Straight Romances #BUT the magical race society live in gender separated communities so being queer is their default #idk this series was just so cool and unique to me back then
