kind of me-dumping on him rn, fluff

even as james was still a little kid and yet only ever dreamed about visiting hogwarts one day (somewhere he only knew out of his parents' many many stories from their young years and instantly fell in love with), he was the friend everyone went to with their (silly, little) problems. he was the shoulder to cry on when marlene's first crush wanted nothing to do with them. he was the boy who stood up for pete when the bullies were mean to him again. james has always been james. and even in his years at hogwarts that never changed; in actuality, it got even worse.

and because of that, he had to grow up rather early in his being and had no other option really but to get strong with his emotions, or more precisely, at hiding them for the sake of others.

 

so when james was long ago out of puberty, his lost (emotional) childishness began to flower up again; his kind of obsessive want for stuffed animals grew and grew, and at the age of eighteen, he couldn't imagine going to bed without his stuffies anymore.

 

at that time, james was in a healthy relationship with regulus and lily who were rather fond of their bulky, quidditch-strong (sunshine) boyfriend sleeping with stuffed animals every night.

they even got him one for his birthday once, a very big deer plush, which james is now always using when none of his lovers can sleep and cuddle with him in the dorms at night.
