Kids these days have parasocial relationships with youtubers and twitch steamers, back in my day we angrily defended our favourite football player on public forums even when they played badly and didn't score any goals

Part of me is still convinced that no one appreciated Miro Klose as much as I did lmao

#at least miro actually genuinely did play great a lot of the time #i also defended podolski so muuuuch and i gotta say buddy #amazing games in there for sure but #also some really bad ones #i didn't care though i loved him anyway #god that fucking serbia game in 2010 they both uhhhh had a bad time #and i was still afterwards like No it was all tbe referee's fault!#and yeah that guy did kinda suck #but also poldi did miss that penalty yknow #anyway poldi has soured on me a bit since then #bc he has a bad habit of just... hyping people and things that shouldn't be hyped #like turkey. or quatar.#meanwhile miro srill doesn't have social media and simply shuts up about things #so i can continue to pretend that he is an entirely unproblematic fave #i am 25 and i have gotten slightly more rational but not a lot
