Self Indulgent Unrelated to Fic Content
@itsstereksterek tagged me in this and I thought...

25 fun and cute questions to brighten the spirits and get us through the holidays!
Hiya all! I’ve created this list as a reminder of happy memories and great times with our loved ones since I think we’re all feeling a tad blue this holiday season. Tagging my favourite blogs but all are welcome to answer :)
Best gift you’ve ever gotten: my husband sent me on a scavenger hut to get the new HP book. (back before we knew about Joann.) It was so cute and he put so much work in it.
Nicest thing anyone’s ever done for you: I try to notice lots of nice things people do and be grateful. I think sometimes just someone touching you and saying are you ok?
Your favourite holiday memory:  Parades make me cry. In a furiously happy way. IDK man. It happens. But our city has a big Thanksgiving day parade and we use to go all the time and just feeling safe to be myself enough with my family is always a good memory.
Where you want to go first once we can travel again: I don't get to travel much anyway, but I've always wanted to go to Eastern Europe.
Your spirit animal: This isn't a good phrase to use. Let's strike it from our vocabulary.
Your OTP: That's not cool. Arthur/Eames were my first. Sterek is my longest and Steddie has recently had me in it's grips. How do you pick one?
Tumblr pals you want to meet in real life: It would be so fun to have an Eyebrows meet up right?
Soulmates: real or fake: fake. it's much harder than that.
Favourite holiday food: chorizo stuffing
What you wish you were doing right now: I'm pretty good actually.
Your safe space/where or who you feel most at home with: I feel happiest at home with a book and my fam.
Favourite hobbies: reading, tumblr-ing
Cooking or baking: baking. Fun fact I went to patisserie school.
Reading or writing: both, but reading is easier cause someone else has already done all the work.
Gifsets or mood boards: i like both. I can't make either so I'm impressed by the work people do for both.
Coffee or tea: coffee
Tumblr media
City or suburbs: I've never lived in a suburb.
Someone who can always make you laugh: my husband.
Someone who always brightens your day: my doggo, Oso.
Tumblr media
Favourite day of the week: I don't really have one. Any day I am off?
Favourite animal: sloths!
Dream vacation spot: a place where i can lay around and read.
Writer, artist, or creator(s) you want to see more of:  I always want more queer content and/or POC content. Especially in spaces that are dominated by white cis men. LIke sci fi and fantasy.
Favourite movie, television show, and song: The Thing, The Good Place, and right now it's Curses by The Crane Wives
Tumblr media
Feel free to do it yourself! And tag me so I can get to know ya'll

ZambaWork with the ZambaCrew December 4 - 8, 2021 Lomography Simple Use Film Camera (36 exposures, fujicolor c200)
In December of last year, our plans to go to Zambales to work and at the same time, to travel/getaway finally pushed through. We were initially 6 in the group, but Sha got sick the day before our trip. Anyway, I was really looking forward to this trip. I was just so sick of being at home all the time. I needed a breath of fresh air and some sun, and thankfully though, my Psoriasis also cleared up before this trip.
We stayed at Casablanca in San Antonio, Zambales (Jhaey’s fam house), for 5 days and 4 nights. We brought our laptops and pc equipment with us (except for Maidy since she took a whole vacay leave for this trip.) I was also planning on just filing a vacay leave but then the company’s holiday shutdown was almost near and I needed the extra leave to cover the days that we were not working. It was still nice though, working in a new environment. We had an amazing chill vibe work set up on their second-floor deck. Every morning was so nice, it was cold and you could hear the sound of nature, and you get to see the sky gradual transition from dark to light. And we would go to the beach (2-5 mins walk from their place) once our shifts ended. Another thing we always looked forward to was the food. The caretakers of their place were all great cooks! I can’t wait to get back just for that.
Okay, I really suck at summarising. So yep, here are the photos I took using my film cameras. We actually have a lot of photos and videos in our phones, and most of them were good for blackmailing. Hahaha! Just mostly stolen and wacky ones so will not post it here.
Story time: On our second day we decided to go island hopping. We initially decided to go to Camara then Capones then Anawagin cove, but then we ended up just going to Capones island. After staying there for like an hour or less, the boatman said that we should get going because the wind and waves were starting to grow stronger. I also didn't even take a dip because I decided to swim in Anawangin where we were also supposed to grill and prepare our lunch. And once we were about to go to Anawangin, the waves started to go crazy. Maidy and I were seated in the front row of the boat and we ended up drenched. The waves were mad and the wind was blowing against the direction we were heading to. It was so scary, we decided to go back. The other boatman said that we could still go to Anawangin, that it was pretty normal, but nope. It was one heck of a ride. Really terrifying and funny at the same time.

Christmas with the Karasuno Boys (HC’s)!!
Part 1: Daichi, Suga, Asahi, Nishinoya, Tanaka, & Ennoshita
Part 2 (Kageyama, Hinata, Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, Kinoshita, & Narita) here!!
A/n: Tumblr said my word count was too much so I’m splitting this bad boi up into two parts :p Enjoy!!
*****
Daichi
A huge romantic during Christmas, 10/10 quality cliche times spent together
You wanna go ice skating? Hell yeah sweetheart, he will make it the most beautifully romantic thing you’ve ever seen
Like straight out of a holiday postcard type beat
Istg the rink he takes you to looks like a more heartwarming version of Rockefeller Center
He’s a big keeper of tradition when it comes to making plans, but doesn’t mind a bit of nonsense fun when everything falls into place
Which is why you love to bring the team along on adventures because they make everything all the more entertaining
At first he’s confused like ??? You don’t have to do that just if they’ve been pestering you about it
But then he realizes you care as much about them as he does (hint: a hell of a lot) and they’re thus invited along for some stuff
Of course y’all also get some quality time together on dates with just you both
Anyways you and Daichi have talked a lot about traveling and how he was really interested in seeing new places
So as his gift you got him a carved map with a roll of red string and thumbtacks, so that he could plan out all the places he wanted to visit
You know how when Kiyoko found the “Fly” banner for Karasuno and all the boys cried?
Yeah
Like that but with lots more hugging and laughing
“You know you’re gonna have to help with mapping this out, right?”
“Is that an invitation I hear?”
“Oh, that’s a promise”
FJSFJDSK ALEXA PLAY AMERICAN BOY BY ESTELLE
Please I love him; he is so damn sly and sassy I will die with this headcanon
Sugawara
I swear on everything that Christmas with him is equivalent to a Hallmark movie
It smells like joy and warmth wherever he is, and this season only amplifies it
He is such a cheeseball without even having to try
But it’s in the really endearing and heart-melting way,,, just MMM PERFECT
He’ll take you on a walk through those neighborhoods with those crazy light decorations in the front yard and buy you hot chocolate
If he sees a group of little kids gaping at all the lights, he’ll leave them starry-eyed with stories of magic, reindeer, Santa and so-forth
“You know, I’ve heard that Rudolph’s nose is supposed to be brighter than the world’s most powerful Christmas light”
Good heavens, children absolutely adore this man
Anyways he’ll make it a little game as y’all walk around this beautifully lit neighborhood, both of you with a different assortment of bingo squares printed on paper
First one to bingo chooses a movie to watch after getting back to Suga’s house
Will wrap a big fluffy blanket around you both and pull you into his chest while watching the movie
For his gift, you got a star named after him
It’s because y’all alway go stargazing for dates every month, just to sit out, talk and cuddle
Suga gave you the SOFTEST look after opening your gift and this cute little card you made 🥺
“Lets go try to find my new favorite star”
PLEASE HE IS SO SWEET
“Right now? Koushi it’s 11:30 pm”
“Just for ten minutes, and then I’ll get you home”
So y’all spend the rest of Christmas Eve on his roof, sipping warm tea and attempting to locate Star Suga
Asahi
Cuddle bear alert ‼️‼️
It’s basically hibernation time for him, because he’s not the biggest fan of cold
That’s alright with you though 😌 more coziness for you
Lots of quality moments indoors means more creative dates
A whole day devoted to chill present wrapping? Hell fuckin’ yeah
Nice music, pretty wrapping paper, shiny bows, maybe a little Christmas rom-com playing in the back — the whole shebang
You find out pretty quickly that despite how it sounds, it’s actually quite a satisfying and enjoyable pastime
Practically had to drag him out of your living room to secretly wrap his own gift
As much as he’s the king of timidity and soft™, he can be very playfully stubborn when he’s comfortable, hence why he was such an ass to get out of the room
I have no doubt that Asahi would melt for the most adorable, cheesy shit
So you not only bought him some really reliable headbands for volleyball use, but you also made a little coupon booklet
He can basically cash in paper promises for certain things, like getting to choose the next date idea, picking a movie to watch without any objection, having you make his favorite food, etc.
There’s one that he can exchange for a full out spa day trip, because good heavens he’s a sucker for those
Massage and exfoliation and everything — it makes him feel ✨refreshed✨
He was ecstatic fam, I don’t even know what to say
Like a puppy who just got a bunch of toys and a new backyard to play
Mans cashes in one almost immediately, and at first you’re confused
Like it’s Christmas time bubs, what are we gonna be able to do when most places are closed and it’s the holidays?
Then you read the paper
“Free hug (can be used and renewed <3)”
GIVE HIM HIS DAMN HUGS RIGHT NOW
He uses that one a lot throughout the upcoming days, to the point where he just keeps the paper on him for fun
“You realize you can just ask me silly, you don’t need to keep carrying the coupon around”
“Yeah, but it’s entertaining”
Cute little cheeky bastard
Nishinoya
LOVES LOVES LOVES CHRISTMAS
You know the 12 Days of Christmas? The song??
He gets you a small present EVERY DAY for all 12 days
Not to mention he has a big present that he saves for the actual holiday
Y’all are the type of couple to get ice cream in the middle of winter
Nishi loves his cold snacks any time of year, and you’ve thus picked up a similar taste
He will consistently pester you about what kind of present you got him
Gets pouty when you don’t tell him, but in the back of his mind he’s glad because it would ruin the surprise
Anything you get him instantly becomes his most prized gift tho
It could be a literal rock with googly eyes and he’d put it in a protective glass case for preservation
But of course you get him something better than that because he only deserves the best
He’s got this specific assortment of products to maintain his spiky hair and to make sure it’s healthy, but they’re pretty expensive to buy when he runs out
When he tore open your present’s decorative wrapping to discover a huge basket of basically every hair product he ever needed, he got wide-eyed
There was also a booklet of little notes you’d kept throughout the month that listed all the little things you noticed and adored about your precious boyfriend
He nearly CRIED reading them
“Baby, you didn’t have to do all that for me”
“You act like you don’t deserve all of it and more, Nishi”
Refuses to leave your side after that
Holding your hand, hugging you as tight as he can, etc.
He is head over heels idc idc
Tanaka
Another man who is obsessed with the holiday season and everything that comes with it
He is the biggest sap for this shit istg
Will spend hours trying to get you the best present of all time
And he succeeds exceptionally
Mistletoe? He’s got an ABUNDANCE on hand at any time, just to make sure he can get fair share of his kissies 🥰
His signature beanie appears in full force during winter
Sometimes you’ll pull it over his eyes before giving him a peck on the cheek and dashing off in the school halls
“I’ll see you after school, babe!”
Speech = jumbled + incomprehensible
“Uh hUh, you do that~”
He’s: adorable
I just know that he melts for really sweet and thought-out gifts
Like anything you give him he’ll adore, don’t get me wrong, but the ones done with special care and love are just his kryptonite
He brought you into a massive bear hug and spun you around when he opened a photo book of old pictures taken together, complete with lots of cute messages and anecdotes written alongside them
You and Saeko may have also gone in on another present for him without his knowledge
And on Christmas Eve, you dragged a curious Tanaka into his front yard to the sight of a shiny motorbike
It was Saeko’s old one that she’d held onto for a while, and an old schoolmate offered to fix it up nice in time for the holiday at a discount, so y’all decided to divvy up the lowered price and got it done for Ryu
Sweet boy was taken aback, with his hands clapped over his mouth and everything
Saeko patted him on the back as he stood there in shock, giving her baby brother a sweet smile
“All yours, little bro!”
Ya, Saeko fucking loves you 😌 and so does Tanaka
Overall very lovely, would cry to be loved by the Tanaka siblings
Ennoshita
After spending past Decembers with his fellow second year classmates (namely, the very enthusiastic Noya and Tanaka), he’s grown to know quite a bit about the different holiday events that go on around town
Still, Ennoshita is a pretty simplistic guy and is content with simply spending time with you
So when you recommended going to pick a Christmas tree out for your place together, he’s totally down
As long as he gets to help decorate too ☺️
Y’all end up picking a beauty of a tree ngl
It’s SO TALL
And a super stronk friend — fit for the most heavy duty of ornaments
It takes some damn work to get that bad boi inside and upright after driving back to your house
But like hell did that stop you
Now that it was all set up, sturdy, and given plenty of water, decorations were brought into the equation that same night
No rest until it’s all set up and looking mighty beautiful
Okay maybe some coffee breaks in between, but other than that the grind don’t stop ✋😤
Ennoshita is an expert at making Christmas trees look absolutely immaculate
Idk if it’s because he’s had to deal with cleaning up disorder for a while now?
Looking at you, ya second year loons
He just has the touch, fam
He’ll of course let you have input on which light colors, what type of ornaments, and so on
But honestly it’s really fun seeing him fully concentrated on making your tree the best it can be
He lets you on his shoulders to put on the tree topper 🥺
For his gift, Ennoshita really loves books, so you decided to get him 12 different (hardcover!!) stories — one for each month in a year
Along with a small sticky-note blurb on the covers of each to explain why you chose it, and to give similar title recommendations if he ends up enjoying
He was so surprised with how thoughtful and extensive it was
Loved it so much that he immediately started to read the first one, with you sat in his lap
“Chikara, you realize you’re meant to start this one in January?”
“Shh, I’m getting a head start”

Thanksgiving is Gonna Be Weird: A Survival Guide for 2020
It’s 2020, the pandemic is worse than ever, and the holidays are right around the corner. No matter what, this is going to be a weird Thanksgiving for a lot of people. With travel restrictions in place and most of us having a mighty desire not to murder our friends and family by spreading around a disease, there’s a good chance that you’re going to be celebrating a bit differently this year.
And, hey, maybe you decide not to celebrate at all. Which is perfectly valid!
But maybe you’re staring down the possibility of your first Thanksgiving on your own, or feeding just the small group you live for rather than a big crowd, or some other unusual circumstance. And if that’s the case, I wanted to compile together some resources/ideas to help you out. I know this isn’t my usual horror fare, but...well, I hope it’s helpful, regardless.
Tumblr media
“Help, I’ve Never Made Thanksgiving Dinner Before” Starter Kit
Maybe you’ve always gone home for the holidays but are currently stuck in an apartment with a few roommates, and none of you have any intensive cooking skills. Maybe you always take the kids to Grandma’s house and have never had to contribute more than a side dish but now really want to do a proper Thanksgiving feast for your partner(s), kid(s) and whoever else lives in your house.
Never fear! A Thanksgiving feast doesn’t have to be intimidating! In fact, Thanksgiving foods are usually pretty simple; the most challenging part of the whole feast is the project management aspect of working with a lot of different dishes and getting everything ready at once. But the smaller your crowd to feed, the easier that is!
So, the first thing you’ll want to do is come up with a menu. Sit down and write a list of all the foods you normally eat and enjoy on Thanksgiving. If something is served at your family meal that you’ve never cared for, guess what? You can boot that bad boy right off the list!
By and large, the standard Thanksgiving feast consists of:
Roast turkey
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Some kind of dinner roll
Cranberry sauce
Some number of vegetable side dishes (often a green been casserole and a sweet potato casserole)
Some kind of dessert (often/traditionally a pumpkin pie)
I’ve linked above some easy & favorite techniques/recipes for all of these foods, but of course you can buy time-saving convenience items to get you rolling -- from potato flakes to gravy mix to premade pie. I won’t tell if you don’t.
If there’s something you’re used to eating every year that you don’t know how to make....call whoever usually makes it! If at all possible, obviously, I’m not recommending you do a seance to talk to your dead great-aunt and get her rolls recipe. Just, like...phone up your friend/family member, get the recipe, and use it as an opportunity to connect. Odds are both of you are missing the human interaction.
“Hey, That’s Nice, But I Live in a Dorm Room”  Edition
Okay, okay, I get it. You’re away at college and can’t get home to see your family safely and you’re living in some kind of weird socially isolated dorm situation where you have limited access to cooking implements. Or, shit, idk, maybe you’re couch-surfing or living in a motel or otherwise not in possession of a full kitchen.
I got you, fam.
Do you have at your disposal a microwave? Rice cooker? Even an electric kettle will work!
If you have some way to boil water, you can make instant mashed potatoes, gravy, and stove-top stuffing. If you have a microwave, you can steam some vegetables and bake a sweet potato. For dessert, core an apple, stuff the cavity with brown sugar + cinnamon + butter and nuke in the microwave for 4 minutes.
It’s hypothetically possible to microwave a turkey, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Instead, I’d opt to buy a deli roast chicken (about $5 at most grocery stores), or even just some turkey deli meat. Alternatively, ham usually just needs to be warmed rather than cooked, and you can buy a big ol’ ham steak at the store for a couple of bucks.
“I’m Dead Broke Because COVID, Send Help”
You know the great thing about Thanksgiving food? It’s cheap. No, really! It can be, anyway, especially since a lot of foods go on sale.
In my area anyway, the local Wal-Mart and Smith’s Grocery have:
A can of green beans for about 79 cents
A bag of instant mashed potatoes for about $1
A big can of yams for about $1, or fresh yams for 50 cents/lb (usually a couple sweet potatoes = 1lb)
Canned corn or peas + corn for 50 cents, or steam-in-bag veggies of your choice for $1
Stovetop stuffing for $1 or sometimes even 50 cents per box
Margarine for 79 cents to $1
Gravy mix packets for 50 cents each
A can of cranberry sauce for $1 or less
Most of these are also available at Dollar Tree!
A lot of food banks will also be giving out turkeys this time of year, and some grocery stores will give you a free turkey if you spend $50 or $100 on groceries or whatever. Do you have an older relative who needs groceries? Ask if you can go buy their food and deliver it to their door (contactless!) and keep the free turkey.
You can pretty easily feed a group of 4-6 for $20 or so, especially if you’re willing to be flexible on your protein. And what are you doing feeding more than 6 people in the middle of a pandemic, huh?
“I’m Used to Hosting a Big Dinner But There’s Only Like Three Of Us Living In This House WTF How Do I Scale This Shit Down”
Maybe you are a Thanksgiving veteran. Maybe you’re accustomed to hosting for a big crowd and cooking a small meal just seems dumb and pointless. I feel you. This is my life right now! But don’t despair!
The way I see it, you’ve got a couple-three options:
Option One:
Cook your turkey + a different side each day, and eat your Thanksgiving feast spread out over a week or so. It’ll keep your leftovers from dominating your fridge, let you eat something fresh, and allow you to enjoy all your favorite recipes. Downside is you’ll have to cook every day, so you tell me if you’re too busy to do that.
Option Two:
Cook everything that you normally would, but portion off half of it or whatever to stuff into your freezer, or go deliver it to somebody else’s door. The odds are pretty good that you’ve got a friend or family member who is freaking out about the holiday, and if you can’t see them in person, you can at least drop food off on their porch and then honk aggressively/cheerfully from the safety of your car!
Option Three:
Make something different this year. If you’re a foodie, take this as an opportunity to challenge yourself to create something high-maintenance and weird that you wouldn’t normally make. This is a good choice if you’re off work and stuck in your house with nothing else to do. Basically you’re subbing out quantity for quality so the meal still feels special and unique even if it’s, y’know....just you and your cat, or whoever.
PS: Roasting a whole chicken or a cornish game hen is a fun, small-scale way to get your bird-in-the-oven experience. You can also buy a turkey breast and just cook that, which will be a lot faster than the whole bird anyway.
"I’m An Essential Worker And I’m Working Thanksgiving And Have No Time To Do ANYTHING, What Now?”
Dude, I get it. And whether you’re a doctor, nurse, grocery store employee, or whatever other essential service-worker, my heart goes out to you because hoo boy this year has been shit, hasn’t it? I can’t do anything about the hazard pay situation, but I CAN tell you that there are a few places offering delivery-based Thanksgiving meal options!
You might want to search around a bit for your specific area. Cracker Barrel, Marie Callendar’s, Boston Market, and other types of branded “home-cooking” type restaurants tend to have some kind of Thanksgiving thing. Why not call your local restaurant fav to see if they’re doing something similar? Most restaurants are desperate for a way to stay afloat right now, so a ton of places that don’t traditionally deliver are offering curbside service now. It’s worth a try!
So, there you have it.
I hope some of these tips taught you something new, pointed you to a helpful resource, or gave you some ideas. More than anything, I just want everybody to be safe and happy this holiday. So, please -- get creative, wear your mask while you’re shopping, avoid the get-togethers, and be careful. You may save a life!

Christmas is around the corner and since 2020 has been a stressful for everyone, the Doctor is determined to make it a special Christmas for the Fam. It's never JUST a simple Christmas with the Doctor though. Particularly not when a trip to the Doctor's favourite Christmas world results in a chance meeting with the woman she has long presumed dead.
Hello everyone! I hope you're all experiencing festive giddiness, despite the state of the world today. Seeing as I've just finished my last long term project, I was thinking of what to do next and thought that a Christmassy something would be a great way to see out the year and also to thank all of you for you continuous support: for reading, commenting and liking my writing. It's really made my 2020 so much better to get back into fandom and I just want to say a big thank you!
So, I thought what would be nice (and I really hope I can see it through....) would be to do a sort of advent calendar fic. So basically, a shortish chapter every day leading up to Christmas Day. Christmas themed of course. My very own Christmas special, Doctor/River celebration, The Husbands of River Song... updated, let's say :D It'll feature Doctors 10-13, various companions, a Christmas adventure with a lot of banter and fluffiness and excitement. It'll be one big story that I've divided into 25 parts. Sooo... wish me luck that it'll all work out the way I want it to, and enjoy!
Happy December 1st!
Read below or on AO3!
Home For Christmas
“I LOVE Christmas!“ The Doctor announced prancing around the TARDIS. It was December 1st, at least in 2020, according to the Fam, so it was about time she got excited for it.
“Of course you do.“ Yaz rolled her eyes in amusement, it was very like the Doctor to have an obsession with the holidays.
“You’re a time traveller though, surely every day can be Christmas for you?“ Ryan shrugged sitting on the stairs next to Yaz.
“Well, I once spent 900 years in a settlement called Christmas where it was literally Christmas every day!“ The Doctor skipped to the lower level of the control room and started bringing boxes up-
“Of course you did.“ Graham shrugged, wondering why any of them would even be surprised at that.
“Sounds weird and wonderful at the same time.“ Yaz commented.
“It was.“ The Doctor popped her head up from below. “Apart from the fact I had to defend the town from Cybermen, Daleks and all sorts of unsavoury people the entire time.“
“Again, of course you did.“ Graham chuckled.
“But this year, considering how stressful and unsettling 2020 has been for all of us, I want us to have a peaceful and fun time!“ The Doctor clapped her hands together. “Baking biscuits, listening to Christmas music, decorating, putting up a tree…“
“Right here in the TARDIS?“ Yaz asked watching the Doctor bring up more boxes.
“Why not?“ The Doctor looked at the Fam confused, why were they so reluctant in their excitement?
“I guess Earth is not a lot of fun this year.“ Ryan mused, looking to the others for opinions.
“Exactly! I mean, I have plenty of decorations!“ The Doctor pulled out some gold tinsel from a box and wrapped it around herself. “But what I think we need most of all to start with is a tree!“
“I guess…“ Yaz chuckled as they gave in to her excitement.
“I mean, shouldn’t be too difficult, we just go and find one.“ The Doctor shrugged skipping over to the console. “You know there is this planet dedicated to the spirit of Christmas. You can get floating candles, fluorescent tinsel, baubles that play christmas tunes… and trees that never lose their needles!“
“That sounds like a fun place to visit.“ Yaz smiled as they all got up to step closer.
“We always say that and then things go very wrong…“ Graham couldn’t help but point out.
“Well, what could possible go wrong? We’ll just pop up in, enjoy the festive atmosphere, pick a nice tree, maybe some more decorations, have some gingerbread, and be on our way, in and out, no fuss.“ The Doctor grinned and started typing coordinates.
“It’s never just in and out…“ Ryan mumbled and the other nodded with heavy sighs.
“It’s fine, I’ve taken plenty of my friends here, it’s like a rite of passage and never got into any sort of trouble.“ The Doctor waved off their concerns. “Not that I remember, anyway, well apart from that one time when… oh and that time Donna… and when Amy… anyway, it’s all a bit of a blur.“ She pushed the lever down and the TARDIS jumped into action. “Trust me, you’ll love it.“
“Sounds fun.“ Yaz smiled, elbowing the boys who nodded quickly.
“Let’s go.“ The Doctor grinned when the TARDIS landed and waved for them to come along. She wrapped her big rainbow scarf around herself and the stepped out of the TARDIS that had materialised in a small ally hiding itself away. It was as if they had stepped into Winter Wonderland. The air smelled of gingerbread and mulled wine, somewhere in the distance Silent Night was playing and snow covered the ground. They walked out of the ally onto the main road and found themselves in the middle of hustle and bustle. The Fam couldn’t believe they were anywhere but Earth. It resembled a quaint seaside town, colourful shop fronts, steep narrow streets, old fashioned streetlamps and cobbled roads. Fairy lights and glittering decorations were strung between the houses, there was holly on every door and candles in all the windows.
“Wow.“ Yaz breathed, overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of it.
“Got to hand it to you, Doc, that’s really something.“ Graham looked around, trying to take it all in.
“This is awesome!“ Ryan spotted a street vendor selling burned almonds and chestnuts.
“Told you!“ The Doctor grinned proudly. “Now, how about some eggnog and…“ She turned around but couldn’t finish her sentence as she collided with someone. She found herself thrown over and winded, the weight of another person on top of her and a lot of hair in her face.
“So sorry darling, didn’t see you there, in a bit of a rush!“ The Doctor blinked and froze. The voice was incredibly familiar. River pushed herself up and brushed her curls back, she was out of breath, she was clearing running from something or someone. She looked down at the Doctor, giving her a once over, clearly not recognising her. “I mean, as much as I’d like to continue this, and I would.“ She winked at her flirtily. “Got to run.“

Notes: What do you mean it’s January and I’m just now posting requests from the festive prompt list? SJSKJSKS yeah sorry guys December was a bad month for me but I’m getting them out now because it’s always Christmas in my heart and that’s how it is. This prompt was: “Oh hey, mistletoe!” It was supposed to be short n quick and here we are! All the clown schools are actively recruiting me, thanks for asking. I hope you all enjoy anyways! I’ve more writing on the way. This is of course gender-neutral for the reader!
Summary: The Doctor takes you and the fam to what should be a fun and carefree winter festival, except that from the moment you step foot out of the TARDIS, security droids open fire. Festive! Taking refuge in an abandoned shop, you discover an interesting rock, debate the authenticity of mistletoe, and almost experience death via shelf. All in a day’s work right?
Warnings: None unless heavy and repeated eye-contact is an issue. There may also be a rugby tackle.

“I told you! Christmas - never good with me!” The Doctor’s words were shouted as she ducked a flying chunk of debris.
“What?” Yaz hollered back, crouched behind a much larger and presently stationary chunk of debris. “I said, Christmas and me - every time - “ the Doctor broke off with a yell, ducking another narrow miss. “What?” Ryan and Yaz both yelled. “Maybe we could save this conversation for another time,” Graham shouted. “When we’re not under attack, for example!” “What?” the Doctor yelled back. You couldn’t help it. Hunched up against a chunk of smoking rubble, covered in dirt, and most certainly in mortal peril (and hardly thirty minutes into what the Doctor had promised to be a ‘fun and cheerful’ shopping excursion, no less), the sight of your friends yelling back and forth was too much to take. You started to laugh. The Doctor glanced over her shoulder at you, and an explosion briefly backlit her. Limned in gold, with wild hair and a smudged face, the Doctor looked slightly wild as her eyes flicked over you rapidly, perhaps assessing you for damage. She then grinned back. It did nothing to lessen the wildness. “Now that’s the spirit!” she called approvingly. “You lot, take notes! Better team morale, we can’t carry it all.” It was unlikely that anyone other than you heard her, but her general meaning seemed to carry over well enough. “We can’t stay here much longer,” you said, ducking another blast. This was definitely not Christmas, wherever (whatever, whenever) it was. Not the Christmas the Doctor had begrudgingly agreed to after you and the others had pestered her. You sometimes suspected that she initially refused requests for the sole purpose of being convinced; she certainly seemed to thrive on the banter and, when she inevitably agreed, was all enthusiasm. “Right, okay,” the Doctor said, pushing hair out of her eyes and peering over the top of her debris shield. “There’s a little shop just over there, I think we can make it!” “And then what?” you started to ask, before glancing up. A flash of light was all the warning you had. Lunging forward, you grabbed a fist-full of the Doctor’s coat and yanked her back down just as another blast demolished a chunk of the shield, precisely in the space her head had previously occupied. “I have a plan,” the Doctor said cheerfully, taking out her sonic and acting as if she hadn’t just narrowly avoided decapitation. She caught your expression and scrunched her face. “It’s a work in progress!” she chided, chancing another look over the still-smoking debris. Yaz darted over to join you, followed by Ryan and Graham. “What’s she doing then?” Graham asked, eyeing the Doctor as she scanned the air with her sonic. “She says she has a plan,” you informed them. The four of you then shared a look. “I heard that,” the Doctor said without turning around, still fiddling with her sonic. “But we didn’t say anything - “ Yaz began. “Your silence was very loud,” the Doctor replied, and you supposed that you couldn’t really argue with that. She clicked something together on her sonic and made a triumphant sound. “Right! Got it! Stage one of my plan: I’m going to overload the sensors and we’re going to head for that shop right around the corner, sharpish.” She surveyed you all expectantly, looking pleased. “What’s stage two of the plan?” “How long will the sensors be overloaded?” “How sure are you its gonna actually work? “And you reckon this shop’ll be safer?” “Enough with the questions!” the Doctor exploded, her indignant gaze moving between the four of you. “I told you it’s a plan in progress! Unless any of you lot have something to offer up, then I suggest you pipe down!” She waited a beat, then nodded. “Good. So, my plan - when I say go, you run like mad to that shop and get cover.” “What about you, Doc?” Graham asked. The Doctor pushed hair out of her eyes and waved a hand vaguely. “I’ll be right behind you. Should be fine.” The four of you exchanged another very loud look. But it was as she said: you really didn’t have a better plan. And the shop couldn’t be much worse than your current position, smack dab as it was in the middle of the cross-fire. So when the Doctor nodded at all of you with a (slightly wild) smile, leapt up with her sonic buzzing, and hollered ‘go’, you went.  “Well this is cheery,” Graham observed a few breathless moments later, looking around the dim shop you had all piled in. You were all crouched low, instinctively avoiding the windows. “Creepy, more like,” Yaz muttered, her own gaze lingering on the shadows. You were inclined to agree with her. The cramped and shadowed room was clearly some sort of flower shop, one which no doubt would have been bright and serene with the lights on and under less lethal circumstances. As it was, the uncertain gloom of the room lent it vaguely sinister, as if the silent plants were watching you. Waiting. Judging. Moving, ever so slightly? You swallowed, looking away from the shadows and meeting Ryan’s gaze. He didn’t look entirely at ease either. It wasn’t much comfort. A breath of air, a brush of sensation, fingers running across your neck and plucking at your collar. It turned out to be just the trailing vines of what looked like potted ivy, but you only realized that after you’d yelped and scrambled backwards, slamming your back painfully against the shop’s counter. Ryan and Yaz didn’t do a very good job of hiding their sniggering. You glowered at them, rubbing your back. “Keep it down,” Graham hissed, craning his neck to peer out a misty and smudged window. “I think the Doc’s coming!” Sure enough, there was a sudden upsurge in noise outside, and threading through the weapon blasts was a voice you knew very well. Graham chanced another look, then leapt to his feet and opened the shop door just in time for the Doctor to dive through the threshold. He slammed it and crouched again as she tucked and rolled. It was an impressive display of timing from the two of them. Ryan even gave a low whistle. “Did you lose them?” Yaz asked. The windows rattled as another blast rang out, and she winced. “Ah, maybe,” the Doctor panted, sitting up and pushing hair from her eyes. The window rattled in its frame again. “Possibly. Doubt it, to be honest.” She pushed herself against the counter with you, peeking over it before ducking back down and looking at you all, then the shop. She was, you were exasperated to see, looking quite cheerful. “This is cozy! How are we doing?” “Seriously?” Yaz asked, sounding as exasperated as you felt. You couldn’t help but be amused, and the Doctor caught your grin. “Now that’s more like it,” she said. “We’re together, we’re safe-ish, and we’re in a little shop. A flower shop! I love shops.”
“Doc,” Graham said, and you could see how much the effort of maintaining his patience was costing him. Traveling with the Doctor was a crash-course in many important life skills, emotional management included. “What are those things, and why are they shooting at us?”
“Security droids,” the Doctor said, frowning. “Sophisticated models, too. They shouldn’t be attacking us like this.” She peeked around the counter, tongue poking between her lips. “Seems to have quieted down a bit, at least.”
Yaz was frowning too. “If they’re so sophisticated, why haven’t they tracked us in here?”
“And why are they shooting at us, if we haven’t done anything?” Ryan added, sounding a touch offended.
“Good questions,” the Doctor said. She stood up cautiously and skulked over to a window.  “This should be a peaceful era, I don’t know why they have these droids at all. Unless I got my eras messed up.”
“I wonder what that’d be like,” Graham said dryly.
Yaz snorted. “What, the Doctor mixing up her eras, or her landing somewhere peaceful?”
“Oi, that’s enough of that,” the Doctor said indignantly while you, Ryan and Yaz laughed. “We’ve been to loads of peaceful places.”
“Yeah but generally speaking, if it’s peaceful when we land, you do your best to find out why and then upend everything,” Graham said, pushing himself to his feet with a groan. The Doctor looked as if she wished to argue the point, but settled for peeking out the window again in what she evidently considered to be a dignified silence.
Taking your cue from them, you, Yaz and Ryan cautiously stood up too and, when the Doctor didn’t say anything, began to poke around the dim shop. It seemed to be decorated for a winter holiday, with tinsel and lights and bows.
“Weird, that this place has a Christmas too,” Ryan said, poking at a decorative, softly lit tree.
“Most civilizations have a Christmas,” the Doctor said absently. “Not Christmas, Christmas, of course. But most people have a holiday in the winter, when the harvests are done and the cold sets in.” She touched a bell, her nose wrinkling into a delighted smile as it chimed softly. “They’re almost always like this, with bright lights and gaudy decorations, all centering on hearth and home and coming out of the long, dark nights with hope and joy.”
You watched her as she spoke. You loved this, loved watching her wax eloquent on the quirks and details of a new people or planet. There was a certain light and energy that seemed to suffuse the Doctor, when she found something new and unique and hopeful; her joy in the quirks of the universe all but radiated from her. It was a tangible thing, almost visible in her wake as she talked and moved around. It was so quintessentially, authentically her.
You couldn’t help but smile, watching her. When she glanced over her shoulder, your eyes briefly met. Before you could feel much more than the first stirrings of self-consciousness that she’d caught you staring at her, smiling at her… she smiled back, and the shop felt brighter.
“Is this mistletoe?”
Ryan’s question wasn’t loud or sudden, but you still jumped, startled. You caught Yaz’s eye as you turned around. She gave you a cheeky look, her eyebrows raised. Mature and unruffled person that you were, you scrunched your nose in response. It was an imitation of the Doctor you’d all picked up, and utilized with decreasing irony. She didn’t seem to have noticed it yet. One of these times, though, she was going to catch you all as you pulled increasingly dramatic scrunches behind her back. You personally hoped that she would catch Ryan (his were the best and most ridiculous).
Graham walked over to Ryan, examining the draping plant in question. “Couldn’t be,” he said, though without much conviction. Traveling with the Doctor had done a lot to blur the lines between impossible, improbable, and just another Tuesday.
“Unlikely,” the Doctor said as she moved over, pulling out her sonic. She ran it across the leaves of the plant, the muted glow and soft whirr making an island of light and colour in the shop.
“Anyways how do you know what mistletoe looks like, Ryan?” Yaz asked interestedly.
“I’d like to know that as well,” Graham said, never one to pass on an opportunity.
“Ha, ha,” Ryan said groused. “Obviously I don’t know, since I was wrong.”
“That’s not really better though, is it?” Yaz observed, and she and you both dissolved into giggles as Ryan’s face underwent a series of complicated and interesting emotions. When he settled on his signature Doctor-scrunch, you only laughed harder.
“Shh,” Graham said, perhaps taking pity on his grandson, though he seemed to be fighting a smile. “We don’t want to attract those things’ attention. I’m not built for all this running.”
“They should be down for a bit longer,” the Doctor said. “Long enough to figure out what the next part of the plan is.” She looked away from her sonic, towards a window. “Can’t stay here forever; the security droids are bound to figure it out sooner or later and we need to find the locals, find out why they’re so afraid of newcomers.”
She moved restlessly around the shop. Graham and Yaz asked her some more questions, but you drifted away, examining the back shelves. While some of the items were readily identifiable as plants and flowers, others were much more ambiguous and even downright strange. You stooped to look at what seemed to be a potted rock. Why would anyone put a rock in soil like that? It wasn’t a remarkable rock, just striated grey, dull and lumpy. Except - was that a slight glimmer, that caught your eye? Curious (and lacking the appropriate degree of caution that traveling with the Doctor had instilled in you) you reached out your hand. Your fingertip had just brushed the rock - warmer than you thought it would be, and smooth - when an arm appeared from over your shoulder, a hand wrapping around your wrist. You jumped, startled, and felt your back press up against someone.
“No touching things, what have I said?” The Doctor’s voice was laced with exasperation, but you were more distracted by the way it came from so very close to your ear. “I thought it was just Ryan I had to watch - oh, what’s this?” The Doctor’s hand was still wrapped around your wrist. Combined with her body so close to yours that you could feel the heat and energy emanating off of her, you were extraordinarily distracted. So much so that you almost missed it, at first. The Doctor’s sharpening attention was palpable, and you blinked as you watched the rock shudder, fine cracks radiating across its surface. Before you could even make sense of that, the cracks unfurled into tendrils, the rock transforming before your eyes into an impossibly delicate plant. It swayed gently.
“How did it do that?” you asked, your eyes tracking the sinuous, gentle movement of the rock-plant. It wasn’t the strangest thing you’d seen on your travels, but for some reason you were having trouble wrapping your mind around the fact that the bland, unassuming, solid little rock had transformed into this wispy plant.
“Touch responsive,” the Doctor said musingly as she leaned past you and peered at it. “An interesting adaptation. Probably to lure in the unwary,” she added severely, glancing back at you.
You wrinkled your nose at her. “That’s not what I meant, I meant how does it go from a rock to -” but you broke off. Something had flashed out of the corner of your eye, and you turned, frowning. Just a glimmer of light bouncing off something in the shop, surely? But even as you thought that, another flash of light drew you attention - from outside the window. Uh oh.
“Doctor,” you said, tugging at one of her sleeves. She was still in the middle of expounding upon both the plant’s alleged properties as well as your foolishness, but she glanced back at you, her hair falling over her face. She followed your gaze to the window.
“Hey Doc, there’s something moving out there,” Graham said from the other side of the shop. The Doctor’s face underwent a series of rapid changes as she stood up straight. She looked from Ryan, Graham and Yaz to you, and then the window again. “Everyone away from the windows,” she said, while promptly doing exactly the opposite of that. She only made it a step before she froze, then whirled back around. “Down!” she shouted, lunging forward and half-tackling you. She pulled you closer as you fell, so that her body was shielding yours. You thought maybe you’d shouted in surprise as you were forcibly tackled. It was hard to tell though, because even as you hit the ground (ow,) the wall across from you exploded as something tore through it. Several more shots ricocheted through the room, and bits of wood, ceramic and other debris crashed to the floor all around your head. You weren’t thinking about that much, though. Partially because you were still winded from the takedown, but mostly because the Doctor was still crouched over you, her head ducked against your shoulder and her arms on either side of your head as she shielded you. It was extraordinarily distracting. A booming crash rattled the floorboards as one of the shelves tipped over, and the Doctor yelped as she was showered with yet more debris.
Silence slowly reasserted itself in the shop. The Doctor cautiously lifted her head from your shoulder, turning so that her hair brushed your face. “Yaz?” she called, coughing. Smoke hung thick in the air, sullen and acrid. “Graham? Ryan?” “We’re fine,” Yaz called back. “Uh - Doctor, where are you guys?” You thought that a rather odd question to ask; if anything it was only you Yaz ought to have wondered the whereabouts of, given that the Doctor was still draped on top of you. You heard scuffling from the other side of the shop. “Stay down,” the Doctor said sharply. “They’re motion activated. We’re fine, just a bit cramped.” She shifted gingerly as she said this, and as her head moved you got a good look above you for the first time. It seemed the crashing shelf you’d heard had fallen directly over the Doctor, and presently lay propped up against the counter. It had probably protected you both from the worst of the debris, but it was now also effectively pinning you down. Ah.
The Doctor turned her head again so that she was looking at you. Your noses were all but touching, her hair still brushing against your cheek. You wondered distantly if this was what a heart attack felt like, as you counted the freckles dotting the Doctor’s cheek like so many stars. “I’m just going to ease out, slowly,” she said, her tongue poking out between her lips as she concentrated and, in the process, almost murdered you. Perhaps this was what a heart attack felt like, actually. “Stay very, very still.” You swallowed and nodded minutely, not trusting yourself to speak. The Doctor pushed herself slightly off of you, one hand twisting as she tried to ease to the side. She froze as the shelf groaned and slid down further. Her eyes met yours again, wide and gleaming.
“Right,” the Doctor breathed. “Maybe we ah. Wait for help then.” She scrunched her nose as she spoke, obviously disliking the sentiment. You weren’t really surprised when she followed the statement with another attempt at shimmying out from under the shelf. It slid down another solid inch, hitting the Doctor and pressing her against you. “Ah,” she said, glancing at you guiltily. She looked so absurd that you couldn’t help but smile. Her guilty look melted away into a smile of her own. “Don’t you dare laugh,” she muttered. “I may have made a tactical error. It does happen.”
Something fell off the shelf, shattering very close to your face. You could hear something else slide to what must be the very edge of the shelf; you could just see the draping green tendrils of a potted plant, teetering on the edge. The Doctor’s eyes were very wide as she looked at you. ‘Don’t move,’ she mouthed, as if you were the one inching the shelf lower and lower. “I think we’ve got company,” Ryan’s voice called. You realized that you could hear voices, growing louder as they approached. “Must be the locals,” the Doctor said. She looked frustrated; you imagined that being rescued from the shop she had broken into and helped destroy might slightly undercut her position.. She shifted just slightly, and the potted plant rattled above you. She looked up, carefully moving only her eyes.
“Huh,” she said after a beat. “I think it is mistletoe.” Her eyes moved back to yours, and your gazes locked. The Doctor had propped herself up with her arms so that she didn’t crush you, but in that moment you still felt the air leave your lungs. The moment stretched, the two of you staring at each other, noses just touching, eyes reflecting each other.  You were suddenly, horribly aware of your lips, and the bare sliver of space between them and the Doctor’s.. You thought you could almost feel the heat coming from them. From her. You could certainly feel her hearts beating against your chest. The door to the shop banged open, and you both jerked. “Doctor!” Yaz cried, over the sound of more voices. “It’s okay,” the Doctor called, turning her head and filling your face with her hair. “Just a bit of a misunderstanding!” She tried to move again as Yaz began arguing with someone, and the bookcase creaked ominously. You could hear rapidly approaching steps, and Graham’s shoes appeared in your line of vision, followed by the rest of him as he crouched down. He cast an appraising eye over you, the Doctor, and the shelf, and then lifted his brows. More footsteps, and then he was joined by Yaz and Ryan, and several other sets of shoes you didn’t recognize. The angry locals, presumably. “Doctor, they seem to think we’re here as part of an - army, or something,” Yaz said, also crouching down. She blinked. “Are you okay?” “You are under arrest,” a voice snapped out. “You are surrounded and will surrender your weapons and the whereabouts of your reinforcements.” You saw Yaz’s fist clench on the floor in silent anxiety, though she said nothing. “Hello! No weapons,” the Doctor said brightly. You could feel her words resonating through her chest to yours. “No reinforcements, either. Just travelers who happened to end up on the wrong side of those security droids of yours. I’m the Doctor, by the way, and these are my friends, and we’re here to help.”
Somewhere in the depths of the shop, another pot crashed to the ground and perhaps managed to undercut the Doctor’s words, slightly. You could see her face scrunch. Then she abruptly flattened against you as the shelf slid another inch or two down, and you both grunted. You could feel her nose against your neck and shoulder, and for a moment your whole brain flashed blank. She smelled like tea, and vanilla.
This was definitely what a heart attack felt like. For sure. “But maybe a little help for us, first?” the Doctor managed, her words brushing across your skin, thrumming through your chest. She was still trying to wiggle about as she listened and watched as the others set to trying to lift the shelf off of you, presumably so that you could all then be put under arrest.
It was going to be a long day.

Here we go, 2020!
2019 .. like any other year, was riddled with both good and bad experiences. So I guess it would be nice to go through it one at a time or we'll see what I can write...
• January - I can't really remember anything significant for this month. All I remember is trauma for some reason because this month made an impact to me in the worst possible way. There was so much going on transitioning to February that it felt like this month could've been better if work can be "normal" but that was never the case for 2019.
• February - Shtty as fvck. I said a couple of goodbyes to good people. It started in January but February was just unbearable. The start of 2019 wasn't the best, huh? Funny though how I still managed to eff it all up in the latter part of the year.
• March - BUSY. I did get to travel to Davao this month. And I did spend a couple of weeks with new people. I enjoyed that part the best. The new faces and friends I made in 2019 are for keeps. They're genuinely kind-hearted and just overall nice. I also picked up a new hobby this month.
• April - And the hobby officially started with the purchase of my first ever fountain pen. Thanks to a certain someone for introducing that world to me but I wouldn't go into detail with this one because I don't want to discuss the bs that transpired with this hobby 😅
• May is a blur. Nothing special happened, I guess? Just bagged a few more FPs. And I guess I knew at this point that work was becoming more and more insufferable. More good people wasted by the effed up bureaucracy. Although we did receive a new family member in a form of a puppy who we lovingly call Minnie. She's huge, by the way. Very. Not in any way synonymous to her name. I also travelled to Cebu for the first time ever.
• June - I think I went to Laoag for the first time, too... It was also the beginning of my public speaking engagements for our office. Which is both a blessing and a curse, I guess. I don't really know which one I'm more inclined to. Did one life changing activity which almost killed me lol - we rode an extreme 4x4 ride in the Paoay Sand Dunes. I went to Cebu for the second time and this extended until July.
• July - Travelled a lot. Both for work and leisure. This was my second time in Ilocos (travelled solo for this trip). Actually, I went to two provinces this month but both were for work: Dagupan and Cabanatuan. I bonded with good people. And I turned 23, too. However, it was the start of the worst for me. Ever. Although I did experience whale shark watching and snorkeling. Both good things. And both my first. I guess it is worth to note that I got promoted this month as well.
• August - Went to Boracay. Enjoyed it, I guess? Helmet diving was the third most extreme thing I did for the year. But this month was also when I realized how sad and lost I am. I was supposed to be working on my Master's degree but that did not pan out because as usual, the motherfvckr work I have is just... it consumed me in the worst possible way ever. I gave in to my demons and I guess I just relapsed on myself. I also travelled once for work: Nueva Ecija.
• September - I got to go to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. It was fun especially since we got to visit the PP Underground River, which was an extreme experience for me as well because I am claustrophobic. Also, the overall experience would've been better if I was there for travel and not to work, you know? Plus, I went to Pampanga for work, too. Got very sick which continued on until the next month. Still felt dead inside. I was cruisin' through my days like a robot. Constantly tired of myself and the people around me. What a happy year.
• October - Sht got real. Went to Bataan for work again. Attended a couple of technical trainings, as required. And was rushed to the ER for the first time in my life - mostly because I neglected the pain I felt and just kept everything to myself. Also proved how high my pain tolerance is, despite what my Mom says (that I'm weak to physical pain). Start of the busiest months for the office. Anyways, I got my passport this month. And 4/5 of the fam got to visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (my first international travel).
• November - More trainings! Stressful af. All I can remember is how tired I was for the entire year. I needed to continue my maintenance meds. It actually started in October but I made sure I did take it everyday again. Overall, I was just really on autopilot mode for the 4th quarter of the year. So much has happened with me and the people around me that it literally felt like I was drowning everyday - as soon as I wake up, I just felt horrible every single damn time. Scared myself to bits with my own thoughts so it did help that I was extremely busy with work or I might have done something that would hurt a lot of people.
• December - An attempt to make 2019 better even if it's the last month. I started using my CPAP machine again. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan. We had a Gala/Awards Night for our Year-end activity. Got to wear a gown for that. This month was, by far, the BUSIEST I've ever been. I was never at my desk because I was always assigned to go somewhere outside the office for work. Glad I had more offsets that anybody can ever use because I got to enjoy my Holidays earlier. I also visited a previous employer who I love to bits. And finally, I got to visit Bohol (and Cebu for the third time haha) - which is the first time the family celebrated a new year while travelling (only 4/5 of the fam got to join).
Since I kinda just glossed over the moments I had, let me discuss a few and perhaps do a listicle while I'm at it.
Most extreme things I did:
1. Rode a 4x4 in extreme mode. Almost died because I was not able to hold on tightly but I'm glad it was when we were already by the end of the ride.
2. Whale Shark Watching in Oslob. I don't really know how to swim. Well, I kinda do. But it was scary to swim in an actual sea. I also did snorkeling for the first time and it was fun as hell.
3. Helmet Diving in Boracay. We were submerged at 30ft underwater. Again, I'm not really confident with my swimming skills. I almost did not do it but I'm glad I did because I got to overcome a bit of one of my greatest fears- drowning.
4. Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour. Most magical experience ever but was also hella scary because of how low some parts of the cave can go and how dark it was. Still happy I got through it though.
Places I've travelled to for the first time ever:
1. Davao City
2. Province of Cebu (Cebu, Mandaue, Mactan, Lapu-Lapu, Oslob, Cordova, Carmen, Danao)
3. Ilocos Norte (Laoag, Paoay)
4. Puerto Princesa, Palawan
5. Boracay
6. Las Casas Fipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan
7. Bohol
8. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
There are quite a few things I wish I could've done differently but I'm still very glad I survived 2019. It may be the worst year for me but I'm learning to appreciate the learnings that came along every struggle. I believe there's still good in this world. And that I can become whole again.
Despite everything, I am hopeful that 2020 is when I get to make MYSELF proud of WHO I AM. I am hopeful that 2020 is when I relearn how to LOVE MYSELF unconditionally, with all my flaws and insecurities. I am hopeful I can be WHO I WANT TO BE in spite of anything that will come my way. I just want to be better overall. Healthier, too. And happier, of course.
But this time, I want to do things differently, slowly, but more passionately. I will no longer force myself into being nice to certain people when all they ever do is use me for their own benefit. I wil no longer make myself available to everyone who says they need me. Because not all them actually NEEDS me. They just want me for a brief moment, as an alternate, an option for when their closest friend/s are unavailable.
2020 is when I DETOX. It is when I get a second chance at the life I wanted to pursue. I will no longer impose impossible standards for myself and for other people. I just want to LOVE. And I want to actually try LOVE.
I know I'm setting up an ideal life for 2020 and I am aware of the consequences of false positivity. But I am HOPEFUL and I'm finally seeing the significance of FAITH in one's life. There is still a chance for growth and prosperity on my part. I just have to try.
Cheers for 2020!

It’s been a couple months since my last post, but the holiday flying kept me pretty busy. A lot of people asked me if I was sad to be working the holidays and if it was hard for me. Honestly, it wasn’t! I absolutely LOVE my job (which you will probably hear me say quite often here on my blog)!! I’ve also moved around a lot on my own since I graduated high school so this wasn’t going to be my first time away from family during the holidays. Also, with my job, I am able to fly anywhere I want on my days off. So while I wasn’t able to celebrate the holidays with family and friends on the actual days, we had our own celebrations when I could be around. I am so grateful to my family and friends who understand my job and are willing to celebrate early or late to include me.
So, without further ado, here were my holiday trips!
Thanksgiving: Sioux Falls, SD
I had a three-day trip starting November 26th, which was getting me back in NYC on the evening of Thanksgiving Day. I had a trip the next day so I wasn’t going to be able to go home even after getting back. BUT what was great about this trip, we had a full day off on the second day, a 27 hr layover! I love trips like these because I technically get paid to have a day off of flying haha.
Anyway, Sioux Falls was FREEZING!!!! It had just snowed the day we arrived. The biggest thing to do in Sioux Falls is, well, obviously, go and see the falls! But during this time of the year, they weren’t open during the day but they have lights during the evening. My crew and I really wanted to see them, but we were told we needed to drive through and we didn’t know if an uber would take us through (they probably would). However, we also were getting picked up at 330am and we wanted to get enough sleep (which is extremely important as a flight attendant, we really LOVE our sleep).
During the day, I walked around the small town and found some fun little shops on Main St. They have lights and decorations around town which was perfect for entering the holiday season (I don’t know about you, but Christmas music is not allowed for me until after Thanksgiving).  Below is a picture of one of their trees decorated with ornaments. The statues are a little hard to see but the one in front of the tree reads: “The Angel of Contemplation”. There were these little statues and sculptures all throughout Main St.
If you find yourself in Sioux Falls, Zandbroz is a must! It’s a cute shop with a bunch of little knick-knacks. Books, toys, kitchen items, gifts. I actually got a few Christmas gifts for people here. If I had more room in my suitcase, I probably would have boughten a lot more!
I found this coffee shop that had a very rustic feel. I love the round wood table tops and their overall atmosphere was relaxing. I ended up getting a hot chocolate (because, well, it’s cold and hot cocoa sounds great during the holidays!) I sat and read for a little bit while enjoying my hot cocoa in an actual mug rather than a paper to-go cup (though I did get a pour-over coffee to go for my walk back to the hotel). On my walk back, I ran into the “i love you” sign on the rooftop of a building. I don’t even know what this building was, but I liked the sign, so, enjoy. 🙂
                San Antonio, TX
I had a layover in San Antonio a couple days after Thanksgiving. They had just decorated the riverwalk and their lights are lit every night! While it’s very crowded on the riverwalk, the lights are beautiful. The weather is still nice enough where you don’t really need a heavy jacket and the water just adds an extra element. Phone pics don’t always give the best quality, especially at night, but here’s what I got!
Riverwalk lights
Boat rides on the river
Cool church on the walk
  CHRISTMASTIME!!!!
ICE! at Gaylord Rockies Resort
I LOVE Christmas! It’s my favorite second holiday after July 4th (I really, REALLY like fireworks). In December, I took my days off to go to Denver and Fort Worth to spend time with family and continue traditions.
If you’re in Denver during the holidays, the Gaylord Rockies Resort is a MUST!! They have so many different activities to do there for Christmas. My boyfriend and I took his nephew to ICE! which is a Christmas story carved into 2 MILLION POUNDS of ice!!!! That’s a lot of ice. This year, they did Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer which is my favorite Christmas movie!! When you first enter, they give you parkas because they keep the building at -3 degrees to keep the ice from melting! Seriously, one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!
They also have a walkway with lights everywhere that really is beautiful!
27th Annual Christmas Cookie Baking with Grama
Every year, for as long as I can remember, the grandkids have always made homemade Christmas cookies with my grama Overman. We usually try to make them closer to Christmas, but this year we made them in the first week so that I could be there in person rather than over skype (which we have done in the past). This is something very special for me and is probably my favorite tradition. I love being with my cousins and making a mess (sorry grama) and it’s always fun to decorate with homemade frosting. The recipe for the cookies and the frosting was passed down from my grama’s grandmother which makes it all the more special.
NYC!!
The holidays are a big deal in NYC. . . duh! It was extremely hectic when I went, so I didn’t get a lot of pics, but it’s still really cool!
Cartier
Rockefeller Tree!
HOME!!!
I was able to get about a week off before Christmas to be with my family and catch up with some friends. Even though I wasn’t home for actual Christmas day, we celebrated our own Christmas and it was just as wonderful!
Six Flags Christmas
Brunch with my TX Girls
Christmas Dinner with the fam!
I was blessed with a long Denver layover on Christmas Eve. My boyfriend and I spent the first half of the day with my family in Loveland and the second half with his family in Thornton. I could not have asked for a better way to spend Christmas Eve while technically working. I actually don’t have any pictures from this day because I thoroughly enjoyed being in the moment.
I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving and Christmas! Thank you to the passengers who really were wonderful on these days (you can continue that on a regular basis you know. We appreciate it all year round, not just on these days lol).
Stay tuned in the new year. . . my friends and I are conquering Times Square for New Year’s Eve!!!!!!!!
  B ❤
