A bullet point list of things I have observed thus far about the new writers’ strike, in no particular order:
now is a bad time to be seeking a writing job because corporations respect no one
now is a bad time to have been fired from my existing writing job because no one is hiring or even sending you an f u you didn’t get the job
seeing as how I was fired for sticking to my principles, good on these writers
the fun thing about capitalism is that these strikes work, you don’t get gunned down for your trouble like you would in, say, china
people really out here saying eff capitalism when it’s legit the only system where the bourgeoisies dictate the market instead of the proletariat
meantime socialism is for the corporations to get fat
but I digress
Jay Leno is delivering donuts to the writers on strike, which he did before
also I remember the OG strike, he mentioned then that he was writing his own monologues and kept waking his wife up at odd hours to pitch the jokes to her
TIL that Doctor Horrible’s Singalong Blog was written during the OG writers’ strike, this is amusing to me because Full Sail used it to teach students how to write scripts
corps really do be underestimating people’s backlogs
people be realizing that hard copies are desirable for a reason
laughing because we’re going into summer, when people won’t be watching TV anyway
really happy that people are finally channeling the energy of the captain from Wall-E, i.e., “I don’t want to survive, I want to LIVE”
I have legit watched no new TV since Big Hero 6: the Series went off the air and seeing what disney is doing makes me glad BH6 avoided that bullet
Thanks to the great pause of 2020 people have realized that yeah, we can wait for new if the new is good, no we don’t have the spare funds to pay for garbage
We got DVD copies of shows that are 10+ seasons long and crates of movies to watch, we’re fine
I got milk crates full of books I got from when all the bookstores in my area shut down for various reasons (stupid-high land rent being one of them) and games I haven’t even tried yet, plus I write
Fanfictions will be getting an upswing soon, I’m guessing
also I finally started playing DST with friends, that’s fun
we have a new puppy who is 1000% more entertaining than what’s on the TV
also torrents and downloads exist if the thing doesn’t have a DVD release
on that happy note, if anyone knows a link to the full series of shows like Tangled, Amphibia and the like please hit me up
I got BH6: the series downloaded I need others
Please send your money to the indie companies and the small businesses and individual artists instead of the corporations
yes you can vote with your wallet and it would be wise to do so
Also make sure it’s like an actual indie company instead of, you know, game freak
It’s a multi-billion dollar franchise, they can afford to hire more workers to keep their existing ones from dropping dead in the traces, they just…don’t
say it with me: there are other games in the monster-capture genre, I do not need to pay for a substandard unfinished game that literally kills people
Appealing to the one-percents alienates the majority money, trying to turn around to get the majority money alienates the one-percents, people prefer genuine jerks over two-faced shills
I’ve had the opportunity to work in California and New York before and passed it over because the cost of living versus what I would make would have me living in my car and I don’t want to get murdered
Yes John Lasseter slept under his desk but he was also heading a new company specializing in an art form in its infancy, also I bet his office had a lock
And the fact that people are abandoning Hollywood for Las Vegas, AKA sin city, should tell you everything about Hollywood that needs to be said
Focusing only on checklists to please the DIE, blackrock, vanguard, and the esg means soulless material that has no return on investment
No writers means no material to act for means no one works, considering how everyone is expected to work to the bone I fail to see a problem with them not working
love the fact that no new stuff means people will go to the old stuff and finally realize that no, it’s not the nostalgia filter talking, things were literally made better back in the day
There’s so much genuine indie stuff being put straight online by creators that Hollywood will hopefully die its much-needed death
also disney please die already it’s unpleasant watching the corpse flail about
On that happy note I’m working on new stuff and updating my old stuff, stay tuned and friendly reminder that I have both a ko-fi and Patreon
Also college debt
#wga#writers strike 2023#so as a writer this is all of this very interesting#time to start working on generating content#you know#more than I already do

Don't ask me what this blog is mainly for – it's a personal blog where I'll basically post (almost) anything. Here are my blog rules (they're real simple):
The Do's & Dont's of Little Moth's Blog
Don't be a bigoted dick.
No minors allowed. I post NSFW stuff on here, and I don't want to deal with the backlash of minors seeing that because of my blog.
If you need to vent to someone but don't want to post on your blog or bother anyone you know, you can hit me up in my DMs. I may give you advice for certain things, but please remember that I am not a licensed therapist - sometimes my advice might be to go actually see a licensed therapist.
Submit whatever you want, as long as the content won't trigger anyone's trauma or if it attacks any marginalized group of people.
If you submit any type of media that was created by an indie artists/creator, but is not yours - add that to the submission, along with the og creator (if you know who it is).
As the blog admin, I reserve the right to block, report, or unfollow anyone that I want to. If you break any of these rules, I will block, report, and/or unfollow as needed. I will give you a chance to explain why you broke the rules before doing any of that, though.
Asks are always open unless I post otherwise, as are requests. If I haven't answered your asks or wrote your request, send me a DM. Tumblr's been know to delete that shit before us bloggers can even see it. If that's the case for you, I'll ask you to resend the ask(s) or request(s) if you can.
You can request any other form of writing, not just stories. Except songs. I don't do song lyrics for personal reasons. And I prefer to write imagines than I do headcanons (this doesn't mean I won't do HCs, I just prefer imagines).
That's it. Those are the rules. Pretty simple, right? Anyways, please enjoy the content and there are links to my ask game masterlist down below! 🫰🏻♥️
*Note: I may post personal vent stuff, but those won't stay up for long. The max time the posts would stay up for is 30 minutes....unless I forget.*

A break down of the Young Avengers Part 1
Alright, @thelescorp so here's the rather long (but totally worth it I swear) break down of the first part of the Young Avengers story! Let me know if you notice something weird or out of place and I'll try and fix it right away, i'm writing this mostly from memory and one article on Wikipedia so it might be a little sketchy accuracy wise XD Let's get started!
Here is the first volume of OG young avengers. The issues are ordered on the page newest to oldest, so you'll have to scroll down a bit to get to issue one. If I'm remembering correctly, there are four different arcs in volume one? Anyways this is the very start of the young avengers, and it covers how they got together and how they expanded their team!
~•~•~
The next place we see the team appears is during the events of Civil War, but I'll warn you now that their appearances are scattered throughout and sort of hard to find, especially if you're just starting out. If you really like the first volume, and find yourself wanting to read more later, I would definitely go back and search for the individual issues that they appear in, but for now I'd stick with just the main story lines.
~•~•~
Next is actually just a mini series of about six issues I think, but they are vital to understanding the characters and how they grow further on. The series is called Young Avengers: Presents and can be read (for the most part) in any order, and you can find them here!
~•~•~
Okay now I'm really giddy—the next two series are MY FAVORITES and they add so much and UGH we don't deserve these soft children, my lord.
~•~•~
First stop is Secret Invasion!
The YA gang meets up with another adolescent gang you may have heard of: The Runaways. I'm pretty sure they have their own show on TV now, but I will always be a fan of the comics and I'm sure you'll fall love with them too! Basically the teams meet up and it's hilarious? And also emotional? God it was a rollercoaster.
Before I get to the second series, the one that absolutely broke my heart, these dumb kids get tangled up with ANOTHER (ikr) adolescent super group, except this time with a twist... The series is called Dark Reign, and to be completely candid, it's not really necessary to read in order to understand the characters' storylines going forward. If you get to this point and you still really want to read more about young avengers send me a message and I'll give you a link!
~•~•~
Alright, the big kahuna, ladies and gentlemen, I am currently crying over my own precious copy, drumroll please,,,,
THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE!!
Get ready for mystic mutant powers galore, get ready for Ms. Marvel being a badass (and it's not even her comic by god woman), get ready for some MAXIMOFF FAMILY FEELS, JUST, GET READY.
Children's Crusade is iconic, the pinnacle of the Young Avengers run, god tier for every aspiring writer and artist in future YA volumes. Ask anyone. I can't say much without giving anything away, but Billy's powers really come to a head here, you're going to be 100% impressed I promise, and also you'll cry. I sincerely hope you get this far!!
I'm going to stop here, just because I've already given you a crud ton of information already and we don't even know if you'll like it yet lol. However, if you get through Children's Crusade and are eager for more pleassssse don't be afraid to hit me up and I'll get you set up with Volume Two! It's adds so much to the storyline and also is really about 200 x gayer so,

so here I am look for an old article about robert downey jr that I read ages ago and instead i stumble upon this dinosaur
it’s dated April 30, 2014, which means captain america: winters soldier was the last movie that had been released (march 13, 2014) prior to this article being written.
i remember reading this article too at the time, and I remember the dramatic sigh I let out when it laid out all these great points about how certain things would never come to fruition. except now I’m reading it for the second time, four years later, and i’m smiling, because guess fucking what. I think almost everything mention in this article has actually already happened or is going to happen, and to be honest, i’ve never been happier to have some bullshit, cynical thinkpiece proven wrong.
the article starts off by claiming certain character will never get their standalone films and how could that possibly be when, at the time, we already had four spider-man movies, three iterations of the hulk/bruce banner, and a handful of other superheroes who had a heyday prior to the current explosion of superhero content.
specifically the article grapples with the idea of how we’ll never get a solo deadpool film or a standalone black widow.
and yet here we are today with two deadpool films already released and black widow being talked about (in fairness, the fact that there’s two deadpool movies and no black widow, is just a gross injustice, but I’ll take what I can get).
i love it when cynics get proven wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.
(for context, the rest of the entry simply explains that heroes with masks get more movies because you can pay the actors less money because you can have stand-ins act their part out when you see them in costume and the actors who are worth more like RDJ, don’t have to be on set as much and thus marvel can afford to pay him his asking salary. and with a heroine like black widow, she doesn’t wear a mask and they would not be willing to pay ScarJo her asking salary as a big star-- again, proven deadass wrong)
so, the title of this one is pretty self explanatory. have we seen the x-men working together with the avengers? obviously-fucking-not. however, that could also be easily a reality if this fox/disney merger actually comes through. but one thing we have gotten is spider-man working with the avengers. and not just in one avengers movie, but in three full movies, one avengers, one his own, and one captain america film. that’s a win if i ever saw one.
did I mention i love when cynics get proven wrong?
another great and self explanatory entry that also gets proven wrong with this most recent phase 3.
just to recap, phase 3 is
Ant-Man (okay, it’s phase 2, but) -- not only did we get a nice scene as to why the avengers weren’t called, but Falcon shows up anyway. was it to help? no. still a nice punch in the face for the guy who thought avengers wouldn’t show up in each other’s movies.
Captain America: Civil War -- we literally get all the avengers on this one (with the exception of the obvious Thor and Hulk being missing for justifiable reasons, with ya know, the whole being in space shit). I don’t care if this is “avengers 2.5″ it was still marketed and is titled a captain america film, so the avengers did show up to help and fight each other.
Spider-Man: Homecoming -- literally the OG avanger himself is a side player in spidey’s solo outing. so i don’t think i even need to go into this one more. iron man is a huge help in more ways than one so.
Thor: Ragnarok -- I like to think of this as a reverse Civil War in that the two players not featured in Civil War get their own little buddy film, and obviously the avengers weren’t going to show up when neither Thor nor Hulk really had means of contacting them short of going to earth, and literally half the movie is Thor literally trying to escape a planet, so like, priorities on this one, but either way, Hulk shows up, so it counts.
the rest of the films in phase 3 I like to think justifiably do not heavily feature other avengers (Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Guadians 2) if only because, two of them are solo outings that introduce characters and with one of them being a king from an african nation that literally conceals and hides itself from the rest of the world? legit reason. but then you have bucky come in at the end and thor at the end of doctor strange, so can we really say they didn’t have other avengers in them to begin with? and again, i think both these movie make good cases for why they didn’t call or ask anyone else for help in their respective cases. especially guardians, who are unaware of the avengers anyway and wouldn’t be calling them to begin with
and aside from the main article arguing that the casts have six picture deals that prevent them from doing more than their six films (3 solo films + 3 avengers), civil war and spider-man made it clear, that if it makes sense, marvel is more than willing to renegotiate contracts in order to have characters appear in each other’s films as long as it makes sense for the story and enhances as opposed to detracting from solo films, which should be about their respective heroes to begin with
this is impossible to argue at this point, so i won’t even try. considering the original avengers are still exploring their big story arc. i like to think, though marvel is making way for new heroes. i think it’s clear, especially with rumors i’ve heard about what marvel is planning for phase 4, they may not necessarily resolve a hero by completely retiring him or her, but they are going to explore other stories. they will probably kill some, which will be a definite resolution, whereas other may get an ending whether it’s outright retirement or simply passing on their mantle to a side player, they will get solid endings. i also am in the camp that each movie is its own story and those stories get resolved in and of themselves within their respective films, so i also think it’s a matter of opinion.
i will say this, though, part of the article argues about how marvel will not use the same director twice.
a. they have in fact begun to keep directors around. the russo brothers have a streak going, with three movies currently under their belt and a fourth movie on the way.
b. they are more than willing to keep directors for as long as they would like. it’s clear james gunn has his way with the guardians movies and peyton reed has taken on ant-man. scott derickson has expressed more than enough interest in coming on for a second doctor strange film, if it gets made, and jon watts is officially doing the spider-man sequel.
c. joss whedon chose to not do avengers 3 saying the second one p much stressed and burned him out. it was, from the sounds of it, a personal choice he made. and while i think he hinted at the way marvel didn’t give him the creative freedom he wanted, other directors actively vouch for the amount of freedoms they get, notably james gunn, peyton reed, scott derickson and taika waititi who have all vocalized these feelings on twitter (and if you made it this far and want screenshots, i’d be glad to look it up and show you the tweets myself). i think the joss whedon scenario was just whedon wanting to do something that the marvel executives didn’t want and in fairness to marvel, a lot of fans were more than happy to have whedon stepped down and i am of the personal opinion that it was a good decision in the end. but in fairness to the writer of the original article, whedon, at the time, was the golden child who delivered an avengers movie that worked and was a box office hit and critical acclaim, so he probably had a lot of stress, pressure, and contention with marvel while making avengers 2.
d. i think it’s incredibly clear from thor: ragnarok that marvel allows its directors plenty of artistic license. ragnarok was as amazing and insane as it was only because of taika and it was better for it. any other director could not have pulled off what taika did. you cannot convince me otherwise and the proof is in the logo
ragnarok logo went from this boring piece of shit
to this bright, beautiful miracle
but 3 out of 4 things happening four years later? that ain’t bad.
i also like to think marvel is constantly learning and has made it clear that it wants to tell great stories and it will do whatever it can to tell those stories with the passion fans deserve.
original link to the article is here if you’re curious ( x )

Hey, so I wanna start making animations but I have no clue where to start and I think I remember you saying you were an animator? Do you have any advice for a beginner with no experience with the animation process? Also, do you know of any good animation programs? Preferably free or cheap because I'm low on money. Thanks for taking time out of your day to read and respond 😊 it means a lot to me (also I love your writing it's so beautifully written)
I do currently work full time in animation on a TV show!
So, I did not go to school for animation or study animation at all. I majored in Illustration and Art History, and here I am, so you never know where you’ll end up :P but anyway!
Unfortunately, animation studios don’t use free software, generally. We use things that are universal and industry standard across the board that can easily be sent to someone else or review or edit. Plus, there are lots of different types of animation! Are you interested in 3D animation? Like making 3D models move? Or more traditional 2D animation? Maybe stop motion? Either way, they all have roughly the same animation principals across the board
https://www.amazon.com/Animators-Survival-Kit-Richard-Williams/dp/0571202284 this book is standard for every single animation class and student. If you search you can probably find a *coughfreecough* version online, too
If you’re just wanting to dip your toes into animation and wanna know more, I can give a couple other resources to check out
If anyone is as OLD AS ME and remembers when Newgrounds was a thing, you might remember Jazza. He is one of the OG flash animators, and is still really popular and regularly creates content on Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdhuDGOyAXc&list=PLNaAcA0yN3KYup8psSoyOd_mKW27av89V&index=195 a walk cycle is like, the most basic thing to learn if you wanna know more about animation and how objects and things with weight and mass should move
You can make gifs and animations in Photoshop, if you have that. There’s a timeline feature where you can create timed frames, which is what I used to make my sparkly Merbaku gif in my header
http://animationtidbits.tumblr.com/ here’s a good blog that provides resources, tutorials, and examples of solid animation principals in practice
I’m not sure of any free drawing software that has a timeline feature like PS, maybe someone else knows? Unfortunately actual animation software can get very expensive, because it’s mostly used by schools and animation/production studios rather than hobby artists (yay for pricing people out of creating content! /s)
I’m at home rn, but I have some more resources at our office I can link as well like books and pdf’s and video tutorials if you’re interested in hitting me up later
Animation is a big field with a lot to consider, but hopefully this might get you started a bit!

Lets Talk #2: Who's invited to the Cookout?
If you are on social media, specifically Twitter, you would know the saying, "You're invited to the cookout." This saying is an open invitation to someone outside the black/brown race to join us in our cookout experience. The cookout has been a tradition in the black community since Jesus Christ(Okay, maybe not then, but you get the idea.)
The cookout is a non-holiday gathering. You know how black cookouts are: showing up at 12pm, but not eating until 3pm, Uncle Pookie on the grill with his sandals, Auntie playing Luther Vandross talking about her glory days, the OGs of the family drunk playing spades, flag football/basketball for the guys, the ladies talking about hair or their children. (If you do not know any of these references, you must not belong at the cookout, or haven't been invited.)The cookout is the ultimate carefree Black experience. The cookout is the safe haven for the black community. The one place where we are free to exist in all of our blackness around our family and friends.
"The Cookout" is a black-owned space of joy, love, peace, and whatever drama we choose.
I saw three tweets a few days ago: one, inviting a white girl and guy to the cookout for hitting a racist; two, Abraham Lincoln taking a knee with various black figures; and three, Eminem's rap cypher from the Hip-Hop Awards. I also saw tweets inviting Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys general manager, for taking a knee during the anthem. I saw a tweet uninviting P!NK to the cookout for having hope in Trump. I saw tweet inviting a white girl wearing a "Immigrants make America great" shirt to the cookout.
Let me say this as simple as possible, NONE OF THEM ARE INVITED TO THE COOKOUT. A shirt, taking a knee, a rap, a "woke" tweet, hitting a racist, BREATHING does not get you an invite to our stress-free, racial-free gathering.
Let's be clear, white people should not be given a free invitation into our experience as if they earned. They already feel entitled enough because they are white. Are we ever given free invitation into their gala's? or their family dinners? Are we treated as family when we are around them? Are we comfortable in their white spaces?
The cookout is a time where we can be comfortable around our own kind without having to look the part or fall into respectability politics.
What Twitter has done is open up a sacred Black space to outsiders who are not appreciative of the space. I say sacred because at our cookouts we are most vulnerable. We exist and live freely. And whenever we do so and white gets in the mix, disaster comes or violence. Simple acts of morality is nothing spectacular. All it shows is that you are human. Lets start with the first video I linked about the girl and guy hitting a racist. Though I condone the actions of a white person attacking a racist, it still does not mean they can identify with the black struggle in anyway. They did a great thing that many black people wish we had the privilege to do with out repercussions. However, its not enough for me to open my cookout to them.
Okay now lets get into this image below:
Do you notice anyone thats out of place in this image? Of course you do! Why the hell is Abraham Lincoln in this image, as if he ended slavery and racism? Lets be clear, the Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery, it was an executive order freeing slaves. This image is a visual of "You're invited to the cookout." I THINK THE F*CK NOT!
Twitter has created a "woke" space for anyone to be "deep" and ignorant. And if you believe support this image, you are one of those people. Let me give you a few facts about Lincoln. 1. He owned slaves; two, he did not believe blacks and whites should share the same rights; three, the Emancipation Proclamation did not free all slaves. So, if you say "Lincoln can come to the cookout," I will respond, "I THINK THE F*CK NOT!" Lincoln is no different than many white politicians. He didn't do anything worth opening our black spaces to him.
Lastly, Does Eminem get an invite to the cookout?
I love Eminem. I think he is a great lyricist and artist. I love his music and the way he can express his life experiences. This year he performed in a cypher for the BET Hip-Hop Awards. I am here for everything he said. I do not disagree with anything. But, the visual and the people are my concern. First, I understand that some of the black men behind him are his friends, however, this image portrays a white savior. In the video, you see Eminem rapping about Trump and his bigotry, while in the background there is a group of black men in all black. A white savior refers to a white person who acts to help non-white people, with the help in some contexts perceived to be self-serving. Some examples of white savior complexes are Freedom Writers(2007), The Soloist(2009), and The Blindside (2009). A white savior belittles the oppressed and demonstrates that they cannot save themselves. Its like "Captain-save-a-hoe" instead its "Captain Save-A-Nigger."
I understand that Eminem is a "conscious" artist. He utilized his platform and privilege to speak on the fault in Trump and his presidency. However, when I see POC worship him as if, he did a miraculous thing, I am confused. I can consider Eminem as an ally, but I am unsure if I would invite him to the cookout. Hear me out, yes, he used his privileged for the oppressed, and yes he is conscious about the racial and presidential tension that exists, but is that something out of the ordinary? In other words, did he do something that we, black people, have not been doing or saying? We invented putting the fist in the air for black power. We been calling Trump out on his racist, sexist, inconsiderate, kamikaze ways. We already say everything, that white allies just now have the courage to say.
The "cookout" is for us. Its our safe-haven. Its our black ritual. When we invite people who do not appreciate it or understand the value of it, we are gentrifying our experience for public acceptance of not being considered exclusive or anti-white. I am not anti-white, but I am pro-black. That means I am for black exclusive spaces. I am for black exclusivity. The issue comes when the white race take black exclusivity as a means of segregation. No, I am not promoting Jim Crow behaviors, but I am promoting the right to have black spaces without the interference of whiteness.
