hey sorry idk how to communicate in a not weird way but saw your tags on your post and ur partner sounds really judgmental and mean to you. it really sucks of them to constantly question your intelligence (ability to engage critically w media) while making a big moral judgement about you because of your media tastes

Sorry I’m.. honestly awful at answering asks these days but. I had another interaction today where I realized they just… take so much of what I say in bad faith and idk why or how to handle it?? And I thought about this ask and just… idk. Sometimes I really really reallllly agree with u. (Also no worries abt the weirdness idk how to be normal about this either…)

On one hand, I think we both just. Miscommunicate a lot. Like just slightly incompatible mental illnesses butting heads, I think? Cause a lot of the time it’s absolute nonsense bc we mishear eachother or process things poorly… but

But also more than anything I’m concerned now that it’s THEIR ability to critically engage with media that is causing such a rift…

idk how I can be more clear when I say things likeeee “tried this new show and was surprised by the conflicting humor of ‘thats kinda racist’ vs some shockingly good queer rep… I don’t hate it, I guess?” And they still respond like they presume what I “”MEAN”” is “I enjoyed the racist jokes lol” which!!! No!!!! That’s literally the opposite of what I said!!! If I POINT IT OUT IN PLAIN ENGLISH WITH THE CONTEXT OF IT BEING A NEGATIVE POINT THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD I BE ENDORSING IT 😭😮‍💨
