hating that every ultra fem/frilly/cute aesthetic gets called creepy. first lolita. then the selkie dress trend. now coquette. almost no one is thinking about men and how men will view them when they're painstakingly putting on 300 ribbons and bows i promise you

#lolita is part of harajuku fashion so it can be argued. at least from my pretty outsider view #that its specifically counterculture since it openly goes against the feminie 'ideal' in japan in its own way #selkie was made by a woman i think #checked and yes #coquette has origins in some sexier aesthetics but its become so blended with lolita and similar styles that its #lost a lot of that origin imo #also someone feminine looking pretty isn't always about men i thought wed been over this like a decade ago #people on tiktok seem to be going backwards in their feminist takes these days but after 'girl math' i shouldn't be surprised #coquette has been in resurgence (?) as a nail art trend that looks very much like it borrows some elements of classic lolita which is why #im mentioning them both in this very no nuance no context post #because those types of manicures are a Lot of work and money to put into somethign (most) cishet men will see as frivolous #like. a lot of sets of coquette inspired nails i've seen recently are being priced by techs at $200+#because its not just the standard extension it has detailed art and 3d decoration or sculpting #anyway i'm especially mad that this is now comign from other feminine-presenting people who call themselves feminists as i just had to see
