i like the idea that when louise is a little bit older (like eleven or twelve) she starts wearing her hair in a ponytail instead of pigtails bcuz its more mature But still easier to keep her hair up and out of the way of her hat so she doesn't have to brush it as often etc. maybe when she's older than that she has a phase where she starts cutting it really short which is ALSO more convenient w/ brushing and washing

bob and linda would probably support whatever she wants to do with her hair like cutting or dying it etc but it doesn't come up very often bcuz she honestly doesn't think about it all that often. and her hair is never really visible under her hat. all her haircuts are (obviously) done at home so linda is quite the skilled hairdresser

(i think gene and tina go to gretchen for haircuts as shown in multiple episodes and get the friends and family discount. but louise is too anxious for that and she definitely wouldnt take her hat off in a salon in public. we actually know gretchen doesn't do louise's hair bcuz once she jokingly says "let me take a look at that hair sometime" and louise tells her "not a chance")
