Do you think it shows in my writing that the two most impactful fanfics I read when I was in middle school were:
A series of one-shots set in the post-canon of an anime where a bunch of children were tricked into piloting a mech that would kill them, but if they don’t fight, their entire world will die. The one-shots followed the friends, family, and acquaintances of those children in the aftermath of their deaths. (Throughout the series, property damage and casualties made the public hate them (no one outside them and later the government knew the whole details. Later they found out that each time they fought and won, they were fighting against people in an alternate universe and winning destroyed that other universe.)
A finding aid for the documents of a fictional academic (this is a different anime from the above, but it is the anime where King Arthur is an anime girl who looks almost exactly the same as Mordred (this makes sense) but also Emperor Nero?)
#literary queueicism#truly the most fucked up thing in bokurano was when public opinion was at an all time low and they were fighting in the alt universe where#everyone was holding signs in support of their mech and asking the kids (they didn’t know they were kids) what right they had to kill them#and then the universe was destroyed after the kids won and another one was born and it was supposed to be a touching moment but I was like#nooooo you’re stuck in the cycle forever noooooo#anyway actually I think watching/reading bokurano was actually a good move for sad girl me of the past#abyssal stuff#abyssal lore
