i thought wb fandom is silly and peaceful but it's totally the opposite on Twitter . besides the shipping drama there are awful takes about my boi suo 🥲 " he is boring nirei's bodyguard" " suo is irrelevant.he adds nothing to the plot" I want to know his backstory soon, it will save him from these takes. he is fictional character but I'm totally sensitive about him .

gonna be real honest I don’t think Suo’s backstory will prevent him from having haters. like, there’s just always going to be people who rag on otherwise popular characters, either because it’s the edgy, cool thing to do, to be contrary, or because they genuinely take issue with something about the character. and I honestly get being upset by seeing that sort of hate directed at your fave, fictional or not it’s upsetting. but unfortunately engaging with fandom almost always guarantees you’re going to encounter takes you don’t like or that bother you. the block button is your friend. the mute button is also your friend. filtering out certain tags or words you don’t want to see, an exemplary friend. Twitter is also just, like, a cesspool. so is tumblr but I think it’s easier to avoid things you don’t like on tumblr, as long as you stay off the FYP and just look at the post people you follow put on your dash.

all that to say — fandom can be super toxic and it’s still your individual responsibility to choose how you handle it. Suo is a great character, backstory or no, and there are many, many people who agree with you on that, especially because putting down Suo generally puts down other characters (like Nirei in the example you gave). just gotta find your people and weather the bad stuff, or disconnect entirely if it’s seriously affecting you
