Moon: Her. Just her. Her entire adorable being. Her structure, how calming it is to be inside it. The way she hangs upside down on her rig a lot, especially when examining you. Her cute nicknames for you. The way she thanks you for bringing her things. Her lil beepy voice she has before giving you the mark. Everything. Her personality, her puppet, her breathtaking structure. I can’t choose one and I will not.

Hunter: Her story! How selfless her mission is, and how she’s a little creature doing her best to save someone she’s never even met before. She uses her limited time to save someone who suffers the same fate as her—body breaking down, seizing and collapsing. I also like that she’s pink :)

Moon: Impossible. Nothing.

Hunter: I guess…how neglected she is? She’s never anyone’s favorite campaign (just get good at the game, scrubs), and she was the only scug that didn’t get an updated ending/attention in downpour. Obviously artihunter means she’s popular within the fandom, but game-wise a lot of ppl seem to forget about her, when it’s honestly a REALLY fun campaign!

Favorite Line:

Idk what it is about this line specifically, but I legit cannot read it without bursting into tears. I managed to hold it together but I read that line in her broadcast and just lost it. I cried for like 30 minutes and had to go hug my mom.

Unpopular Opinion:

Moon: SHE IS NOT JUST “BORING FEMALE CHARACTER.” She has personality! She’s insanely stubborn when it comes to using her seniority privileges and obviously takes her role as local group senior very seriously. She is “nice and kind” but that doesn’t make her flat/stereotypical. Of course she’s gonna be nice to the player, you’re a little helpless animal.

Hunter: PLAY HER CAMPAIGN. PLEASE. It is not as daunting as you think it is, ESPECIALLY if you’ve beaten downpour cats! It IS challenging, but for me it really brings back the spirit of the original game: youre a helpless little creature. You can’t generate spears out of your ass, you can’t make explosives, all you can do is run slightly faster and throw spears slightly harder. You have to use your wit and skill to get through it, but it is so worth it.

long story short the pansexual label is redudant and actively harmful (its far from the worst problem bisexuals face but it is one issue) and i dont hate anyone who identifies as pan because A) those ppl are bi like me and B) i used to identify as pan myself.

if thats enough for you to block me and make a callout post for me then i cant stop you but pretty please either read this whole thing or just wait a few minutes for my bday to end 🥰🥰

anyways im kicking off this point with some personal experiences bc i love to talk to myself. i got introduced to the pan label at maybe 10ish years old, and started identifying with it pretty much right away. i heard about it before bisexual and it was pitched as attraction to all genders and of course trans people. i was of course a trans ally! i had trans friends! i was trans also but hadnt figured it out yet! the way i had heard of it, there was no bisexual, there was no need for bisexual, and identifying differently was excluding trans people, which I was certainly against. being bisexual was trans exclusionary and why would i exclude trans people? the 'hearts not parts' slogan was thriving around this time and i genuinely said it and meant it.

as i started to become more online, mostly through roleplaying websites and tumblr here, i started hearing of bisexuality. it was supposedly an older term, so older people still used it, but it was common knowledge that pansexual was the better, inclusive label and younger people should adopt the new inclusive language instead of the old and transphobic words like bisexual. /s

and then bi and pan solidarity was all the rage! pansexual wasnt erasing bisexuality, why did anyone ever think that? bi and pan were two separate and complete identities that were valid and had to be respected or youre a mean exclusionist. and an asexual person, hearing people labelled exclusionist always meant they were excluding people from the lgbta community who rightfully belonged, denying peoples lived experiences, and generally telling people theyre wrong about their sexuality because theyre too young. and all of those things were bad and had hurt me, so it would be ridiculous to change labels and support "pan exclusionists" because they were just as bad as ace and aro exclusionists, and they were all the same people. or so it seemed to me at that time.

then, 'hearts not parts' began getting called out for blatant transphobic by insinuating that pansexual was the only identity that loved people for their "hearts" and personalities instead of those gross gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and even straights who only saw people for their "parts". (STRAIGHT PEOPLE ARE NOT OPPRESSED. I AM MERELY POINTING OUT THAT PANSEXUALITY WAS SHOWN AS ABOVE ALL OTHERS.) many pan people, including myself, began to denounce the slogan and insist pansexuality wasnt transphobic, there had just been a coincidence that a transphobic slogan was everywhere and a huge part of people's explantions of and associations with pansexuality. hint: it wasnt a coincidence.

from my perspective, this is when i began to see people discussing dropping the word pansexual. that seemed to be a huge step from getting rid off a transphobic slogan, and these people were just meanies who hated microlabels. and i like microlabels! as a genderfluid person, and someone who has friends who use specific aro and acespec labels, ive seen how people can use them to name specific experiences while still acknowleging their presence underneath umbrella terms like aromantic, asexual, nonbinary, lgbta, and for some people, queer.

pansexuals dont do that. they dont label pansexuality as a specific set of experiences under the bisexual umbrella, they see themselves as a separate identity, and even if they started to, the history of biphobia and transphobic undeniably linked to the existence of pansexuality in enough to stop being worth using. but i digress. pansexualitys shiny new definition that many people cling to is that pansexual is attraction to all genders. bisexual is two or more genders.

which. frankly? doesnt make any sense. my guess is that its supposed to be inclusive of nonbinary genders and those a part of cultures who historically have not had a binary gender system in the first place. i cannot speak for the latter group, but as a nonbinary person, its not inclusive. anyone can be attracted to nonbinary people. literally anyone. theres no way to know if everyone you meet is nonbinary or not. whether or not a nonbinary person reciprocates those feelings and is interested in pursuing a relationship is completely up to the individual, regardless of the sexualities of the people involved.

bottom line is that you cant number the amounts of genders someone can be attracted to, thus rendering those definitions pointless. people can be attracted to all kinds of people regardless of gender, even if they are gay, a lesbian, or straight. all people can date thousands of nonbinary genders if all people involved are interested and comfortable with it. numbering the genders you can be attracted to diminishes the post of nonbinary, as it is not a third gender, it simply any experience not fitting within the western concept of the gender binary (if the person so chooses to identify as such. if you cant tell already, the nonbinary experience is varied between every single nonbinary person.) important to note also that no widely accepted bisexual text defines bisexual as attracted to exclusively two genders or even the "two or more genders". i know this is used a lot but please read the bisexual manifesto. its free online i promise.

some people also claim pansexuals experience "genderblind" attraction while bisexuals feel differently attracted to different genders. this is very nitpicky for whats supposed to be two unconnected idenities, but thats only part of the problem. this definition is also not in any widely accepted bisexual texts, and bisexuality has never excluded those who experience genderblind attraction. i am in fact a bi person who experiences genderblind attraction. this does not mean i am not bisexual. it simply means i experience bisexuality differently than other bisexuals, and thats wonderful! no broad communities like bisexuality are expected to all share the same experience. we are all so different and its amazing were able to come together under the bisexual flag.

last definition, or justification i should say, is that yes these definitions are redundant and theyre the same sexuality, but people prefer different labels and thats okay. i agree in principle. people can define themselves as many things like homosexuals or gays or lesbians or queers or even other reclaimed slurs, while still not labelling themselves under the most "common" or "accurate" labels.

but pansexuality isnt the same as bisexuality, which may sound silly but hear me out. it has been continually used as a way to further divide bisexuals, who are already subject to large amounts of lgbta discrimination. "pansexuality was started by trans people who were upset with transphobia within the bisexual community! it cant be transphobic OR biphobic!" except of course that it can and it is. to say that trans people cant be transphobic is absurd. transmedicalism is right there, but thats not what im getting at. all minorities can have internal and sometimes external biases against people who are the same minority as them.

pansexuality was started as a way to be trans inclusive at the expense of labelling bisexuality as transphobic when its not. transphobia is everywhere, and bisexuals are not exempt. instead of working on the transphobia within the community, the creators of pansexuality decided to remove themselves from it to create a better and less tainted word and community, and the fact that pansexuality is intended to replace bisexuality or leave it for the transphobes goes to show a few things. pansexuality and bisexuality are inherently linked because the pan label is in response to the bi label. due to its origins, it is inherently competing with bisexuality and it cant be "reclaimed" from its biphobic roots. pansexuality is not a whole, separate, and valid label. its a biphobic response to issues within the bisexual community.

to top off this post, heres something a full grown adult once said to me. in person. she was my roommate. "i feel like im pan because im attracted to trans people. trans women, trans men, i could definitely date them. but not nonbinary people because thats gross and weird." she saw pan as trans inclusive and defined herself that way as opposed to bi which is shitty!

also a little extra tidbit about my experiences identifying as pan. i saw myself as better than every bi person. all of them. even my trans and bi friends. whenever they brought up being bisexual i would think to myself "why dont you identify as pansexual? its better and shows people you support trans people." because i was made to believe bisexuality didnt and was therefore inferior. thats the mindset that emerged from my time in the pansexual community. i am so sorry to all of my bisexual friends even if they never noticed. i love you all and hope you have a great day. this also goes to any bisexuals or people who identify as bi in anyway, such as biromantic or simply bi. love you all.

HISTORY

The daughter of the Enchantress - yes , the same Enchantress that turned Prince Adam into a beast - Trixie never really understood why her family was stuck on the Isle. Since of course , the Enchantress only taught Adam a lesson , yes ?? It was maybe through more harsh means than one would think , but . . . she wasn’t a bad guy.

...Right ??

All Trixie knew was that this was the life she was given , and she had to suck it up and deal with it. And never one to really sit around feeling sorry for herself , she took it. And her life was pretty normal for an Isle kid , save for her mother projecting her anger at being thrown on Isle onto her child. 

There was always a talk of showing them. Telling Trixie , One day we’ll show them what a real lesson is since they didn’t learn from last time. Excessively tutoring her in all things magic and enchanting despite the fact that powers like that actually terrified the child to her core. 

But there was always pressure - and it only increased when it was found out the Isle kids were getting a chance. In Trixie’s mind , this was a new way to explore , a new opportunity for a brand new life - UNTIL Trixie’s mother decided it would finally be able to kick their plans into motion. All of that tutoring , all of the training that made it so Trixie never had many friends , couldn’t leave the house much - it would have to pay off.

Gifted with an enchanted mirror and an enchanted rose by her mother - exact replicas to the beast’s , the Enchantress gave Trixie an ultimatum to make sure revenge was sated : give the Beast’s family the same fate he once bore ( essentially , transform them all into beasts like he used to be ) by the time the last petal falls , or be doomed to become a beast herself.

And . . . that’s where she is now. 

FACTS / CHARACTER

SO YES THAT’S IT - Trixie’s mother basically wants her to turn Belle, Adam , and their kids into beasts to get revenge or else Trixie’s gonna be the one turning into a beast if she doesn’t do it. And yes it’s fucking terrifying.

Nobody knows of this secret except for the two people involved in the deal - Trixie , and her mom. And by God Trixie does not want to do this.

And realistically , for RP purposes , I’m gonna inform you now that there is no way that the revenge is gonna be carried out. The Florians are fine. We all know she’s not gonna do it. But right now , since Trixie just got here and has that ultimatum , she doesn’t know that yet. So she’s struggling with a lose-lose situation since if she does do that , she makes herself an Auradonian criminal , and if she defies her mother and doesn’t , she becomes a beast and she has no idea how to undo a spell like that.

So yeah , just to clarify - nobody else really knows about this. Trixie keeps this deal hidden , and also hides the two items related to it in her closet ( the handmirror and rose ) so nobody finds them. Even though she routinely carries the mirror around with her and checks on the rose frequently because yes , its petals are starting to fall. 

Which brings me to my next point - Trixie has AMAZING power , and essentially , later on in her life it’s destined that she’ll become the next Enchantress. But because Trixie’s magical prowess isn’t manifesting fully yet , aka - it’s not showing on the outside , she doesn’t think she has much of a talent with it. She doesn’t know her own strength yet.

And of course , her mother knows of this. Her mother knows she’s going to excel - but there’s both difficulties in keeping that a secret and letting her become aware.

She keeps it a secret right now - it’s in an effort to keep Trixie under her thumb. But this is also proving difficult for Trixie to carry out the revenge scheme due to a lack of confidence paired with her morals.

If Trixie becomes aware of her power , then that means she’s going to find out she’s growing stronger as her mother’s magic is waning - kind of like the deal with the Supreme in American Horror Story. Trixie’s power grows stronger as her mother’s grows weaker , but that isn’t showing yet in the former of the two. 

So right now , Trixie is forcing herself to practice her magic to get stronger to appease her mother - even though honestly ?? She does not like magic. It terrifies her , and she blames her ability to use it for why her life kind of sucks right now.

To sort of make sure nobody is suspicious of her , Trixie doesn’t even tell people who her mother is. She just says her mother was a fling of Gaston’s banished to the Isle by association - that’s it.

And this is sort of how she’s managed to get a part-time job working in Ben’s castle as a maid to get close.

...Even though she really , really , really doesn’t like that.

But also !! One thing she has going for her is that despite everything - she is very outwardly FRIENDLY and optimistic - always smiley , always chatting up somebody up. This is sort of an effort to make herself feel better rather than put on a facade , since Trixie’s more keen on focusing on things that don’t make her feel sad to distract herself from the actual situation.

Also this sort of influence her tendency to ignore or run away from situations as much as she can bc... mood.

Acting in her own world is very normal for her - and it’s a major coping mechanism. She’s very creative , obsessed with fairytales and stories and probably knows the whole story about your parents more than you do. She in fact writes some of her own in her spare time , always keeping a journal around with her for writing when she’s bored.

Also keeps a dream journal ( mR. ELECTRICDAD SEND HIM TO THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE AND HAVE HIM EXPELLED !!11!!1!!!!!! ) bc she is big into the belief our dreams have deeper meanings n stuff

She’s not the type to shy away from stuff tho in the sense of like... conversing about very out there topics or saying weirdass things that pop into her head. Sort of seen as a little weirdo for this but it all comes for the fact that Trixie is a HUGE thinker.

Also into the supernatural even on the slightly more malevolent side just bc she finds it interesting - she’s 100% the friend that proposes u guys try and summon demons during sleepovers

A day of sad songs

Well...

So I’ve been feeling kind of sad these days

I miss him even tho  I don’t really know him, that’s quite silly but that’s the truth. And it’s been a year (it was around this time last year) since I had this sign of him. It has changes a lot of thing, me in particular and the way I view the world. I can’t help but be thankful about that. 

I’ve been thinking about that (the sign not the world, but I’ve been thinking about it however my post isn’t about it now) a lot and my feelings and opinions  changed a lot.( I was accepting it then denying it and it was kind of a roller coaster) But I still find myself coming back to him in my thoughts and I guess I have finally settled with my feelings( like anyone can ever be). Yeah, I realize that I do love him and I call him (my) Dream boy apparently ( but I’ve started this tradition? recently). And I’ve seen him in my dream(I think it was him) and I felt that he likes me( but I was embarrassed and kind of ignored him hahaha). Btw it was a few weeks before the sign. Lucky for him I don’t have a crush or someone I like (well, except for him now). After the dream I even daydreamed about him a bit, I thought it’s actually nice to have someone who likes u.( I would have been weirded out before.) And that’s the main reason I call him Dream boy, because I daydream about him a lot. Well, I enjoy daydreaming in general so yeah. But now I apply to reality as well, he inspires me and I have learned to live more in real world and in current moment. And that’s also because of him(partly tho), well I say he’s the reason for all these to happen to me so yeah I tell he’s the part of all these changes in me. (and if u ever happen to read it( I hope we will meet, right?) you should know that I love you and has done so even before our meeting/ I’d like to write more about it but I forgot what I was just thinking)). 

Actually I have an idea of who he is(or might be) but it doesn’t make it any easier(or better?). That was my main reason for denying it. I mean at first I thought woah that’s funny and didn’t really quite believe it. and at that time I haven’t really changed but I was gradually doing so. Truth be said I have always wanted to change, be braver and more confident(and some other things). I didn’t really understand myself and denied some parts of me. Now I love me and accept myself for who I am and I guess I am healing( or that’s what they call it). Yeah, a lot of thing have changed for me. Thank you. I am really happy about that.

These days I realize a lot of things are repeating (I mean they say Everything new is well-forgotten old) and I see that some things from when I was a teenager and I liked or did are repeating or becoming popular( I’m not sure how to explain this but I just thought so) and me too, as I’ve accepted everything in me I found myself remembering the things from that time and actually enjoying them instead of just being bitterly nostalgic. And as u can see I kind of call my inner world a Wonderland and I really love it. But now instead of just enjoying other people’s creations I really want to create something myself (but I am just lazy sometimes, meh ;( ) It’s ok to be lazy tho, I decided that my sense of life is to enjoy life itself and if being lazy is part of it then why not be lazy haha. But seriously I better work on it and on my courage too( I still find myself taking things too seriously sometimes which prevents me from taking action). 

And u know what?You inspire me ( Dream boy I mean, I still find it a bit embarrassing to call u that or idk how to explain this feeling), But people ( and u who reads it, idk who will read it, if anybody will at all) inspire me too, they are interesting, right? Since the major change(that basically broke me and made new me(how cheesy lol)) after or before? New Year I had find my passion in life, like my way kind of. And I’ve been looking for it, but how was I supposed to see it when I could quite be myself. I was blind, really. Now that I started seeing everything in new light I had so,any ideas, which mostly feature Dream boy ofc. Yeah, that’s why I’m telling u that u inspire me,and when I denied this connection(well I guess it is one after all) I felt bad or sad and had not inspiration. So u see, there is no benefit for me to deny u, so I decided to embrace and accept it. (that’s a joke haha, I really love you and that’s the main reason :)) But now I feel sad when I really want to hug u or tell u something or just be with you and feel your presence near me(omg I=my eyes are wet now, even the thought makes me cry somehow haha :’)) but I daydream about u and it actually makes me happier and not so sad. I wonder what u are feeling too, but it’s not like I can ask u now *sigh*.  I guess u feel mostly the same, but I want u to be happy tho, with or without me. Truth be said, if you are the person I think u are I can just check social media and see if you are saying something there, but if you are not then it’s senseless, right? I am afraid to be mistaken tbh. But I still partly associate u with that person, maybe u have similar personalities or same hair? Idk. Maybe when I meet u I’ll know. But if I never meet you I can still daydream about u, which really will make u a Dream boy, hah. Every time I hear love songs I think about u and I actually think about u everyday. Recently I have read the translation of lyrics to Euphoria. U know when i didn’t the words before I felt really offended at this line:” Won't you please stay in dreams, yeah?” Like what? so u want me to stay in dreams? u don’t want to meet me? That’s what i thought. Relationship between humans are as complicated as they are simple. I have no idea what happens when we meet (if we meet, but I think we will, why not at least.  I mean other ppl do meet so we have a chance of meeting each other too, considering I have never dated anyone(!) and I’m 21. Not that dating is the most important thing in our lives, but all the guys I liked somehow disappear from my life. Well, i might be at fault too but I blame it on u and the destiny, seems like I can’t help but meet u at this point, now that I know u exist. I wanted to live alone till my death already but here u came and changed my life so suddenly). So speaking about our meeting. AHHH!! YES!! um. prepare your eyes, this is gonna be a long, rambly post because apparently i have A LOT OF FEELINGS and i can’t just list things like a normal person. and i also kept remembering podcasts and the list JUST KEPT GETTING LONGER. so. GIANT TEXT POST, i am so so so sorry. also, there are actually a few on this list that i’m not caught up with (some i’m like REALLY behind on) but i’m still gonna rec them... 

Welcome to Night Vale is the one i’m sure most ppl know of (although! if you have not read the novel, i’d HIGHLY recommend getting the audio book version. Cecil Baldwin does a great job of reading, and the “Voice of Night Vale” sections actually feature guest stars. i really want Cecil to do more audio book recordings omg). but!! along that same theme (radio show in a strange town w/ supernatural themes), King Falls AM is spectacular (ben and sammy are just! a freakin delight i love them). IMO it starts off feeling like it’s trying to be like WTNV, but within a few episodes it finds itself and becomes something unique (i say this bc i was initially put off by the first episode for that reason, and later came back and gave it another shot and enjoyed it immensely). it’s funny, it made me cry a few times, and i reaallyyy really really need to catch up with it. sammy stevens also has….just….a really nice voice hahaaaa The Truth is a great one. it’s mostly one-off short stories, but they’re generally really high quality and the plot of most of the episodes is really thought-provoking or just interesting in general (there’s one ep about aliens who find the Voyager craft with its recording that’s just really charming to me). the tagline “movies for your ears” is really apt. a lot of the stories veer on the side of unsettling/creepy, and it’s great if you like horror stories. i’d also recommend The Black Tapes and its sister podcast, Tanis. i love horror and unsettling mysteries, so these are right up my alley (Tanis is definitely more in the sci-fi/horror genre, but i like how it also digs into real unsolved cases and events). these are relatively well known, at least in that my friends who don’t listen to podcasts have listened to TBT at least. but they’re still great to check out if you haven’t. Limetown is really good, but ends on a cliffhanger and as far as i know there’s no immediate plans for a season 2? (i remember reading something about  them in talks for a TV show? which would be cool, but i’d miss the audio format of it). the first season is worth listening to, because it is really interesting and the audio production is pretty top notch - just be aware that a second season may or may not happen. what i’ve listened to of Hadron Gospel Hour so far is SUPER enjoyable, but i’ve only listened to the first few episodes.  arsPARADOXICA is FANTASTIC (at least the first season and a half that i’ve listened to). sally grissom is a great character and a brilliant and  scientist and i’m just really in love with her. this is a nice podcast because it has very capable women in it and the concept overall is really fascinating and handled really well. The Cleansed, set in a post-apocalyptic US, is well written and overall well produced (there’s one ep that still sits with me, because of a scene that truly unnerved me, just in the music and the atmosphere and the dialogue just ahh) and i’ve been meaning to pick it up again. In that same vein there’s We’re Alive, which is of the zombie variety. i’ve only juuuuust dipped into that one, but i’ve enjoyed what i’ve heard so far. this one has been around for a long time, like WTNV, so there’s a lot of episodes and a lot of content available. THE BRIGHT SESSIONS! i’m really really fond of this one and i just really love it, please listen. it’s about a psychologist who works with people who have “special” abilities, and all of the patients she helps are just so! precious!! i just love them a lot. Wooden Overcoats is a GREAT podcast that is pretty much the audio version of all my favorite British comedies that i watched growing up (think Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served?, etc). it’s a comedy podcast about two competing funeral parlors (one of which is owned by the Funn’s). it’s exactly my kind of humor, and everyone involved just seems really great and kind. Antigone Funn has great lines and HONESTLY i’m surprised i haven’t seen more people quoting her and this podcast because it’s just! really great. and i don’t THINK this is a sister podcast to WO, but i always associate the two because they have some of the same people working on them but - Hector vs The Future is great. again, i haven’t listened to many episodes, but i’d still recommend it. it’s slightly different than other podcasts on this list because it’s actually filmed/recorded in front of a live audience. Homecoming is a short podcast (only 6 eps and the eps are pretty short) that i THINK is meant to be part of a larger, written universe (which i want to check out). it’s about soldiers with PTSD. this one actually has some well-known people involved - both Oscar Isaac and David Schwimmer voice characters and do a great job. The Darkest Night is another one with big names involved - Lee Pace is the narrator, which alone makes it worth checking out. overall, i’ve enjoyed it, but some episodes veer into areas i was kind of uncomfortable with (Tic-Tac-Toe is the one i’m stuck on and why i haven’t finished it yet ahh).  AND OK i really really really like space and space stories and space adventures, so my favs all have that in common hahaha Wolf359 is kind of like. okay, it’s about three people and an AI on a space station, light years away from earth - and the communications officer records his reports by pretending he’s doing a radio show. it starts off fun and humorous and things are great and then before you know it, you are going to be driving from Wichita Falls to Dallas and have to pull off on the side of the road because you’ve started sobbing while listening to it in your car. this podcast is fantastic, with a great cast of characters and strong women and DOUG EIFFEL and just. it’s very good. (i am ashamed to admit that i’m actually SUPER behind on this one. p much, i’m at the point where kepler and crew are on board but i’m only a few eps into this storyline). THIS is actually the podcast that really got me on board with the whole audio drama scene and just like….SCOURING the internet for more that would captivate me in the same way. This one is actually ending with this last season, which i think is a good thing? it’s very plot and character focused and i’m glad that they’re telling a complete story and HONESTLY! i’m just really excited to see where everyone involved goes from here. EOS_10!!!!! similar to Wolf359, it’s about a space station. there are a LOT more people there though (it’s more like an intergalactic hub). it’s about a doctor, his recovering alcoholic doctor-boss who he’s trying to help, a nurse who is spunky and maybe a bit psychotic, a hypochondriac alien-former-prince, and a “alleged” “terrorist” living in the cargo bay. idk this podcast just makes me incredibly happy. the writing is witty and fun, the characters are lovable and flawed, and i’ve listened to the whole two seasons at least 3 times because it just fills me with joy (my favorite dynamic always: assholes who are friends and they love each other but they also just….insult each other constantly. and somehow they save the world? but they’re still assholes). the universe of this show is really interesting without ever feeling like an info dump, and the unfolding mystery is very intriguing. WARNING: this show has been on hiatus for awhile, so there are only two seasons right now. but honestly??? it’s completely worth it. (obvi i’m hoping a third season will eventually come, but i enjoyed the first two enough that i love it regardless haha). and, finally, my current obsession. The Penumbra Podcast. it’s pretty much everything i’ve ever wanted in a series ever - detective film noir, but in space (on Mars), and literally everyone is queer. there’s a main story line (”Juno Steel and the [blank]”) and then one shots between each Juno story. the one shots are fantastic and really show the strength of the writers - sometimes being creepy, other times just being entertaining. The Juno Steel stories are the main running plot, done in the style of old detective radio shows - but also kind of twisting and upgrading the genre to be more inclusive and diverse. Juno Steel is a canonically non-binary and bisexual private eye (also canonically grumpy, sad most of the time, and a huge nerd who laughs at his own awful jokes in HIS OWN MONOLOGUES), and is the type of character you want to punch for being frustrating but who you also want to just…be…happy and protect from the universe. the writing in this is fantastic and beautiful and all of the characters are captivating. even one-off characters have a ton of personality and just add to the diversity/representation of the show. the voice work is top-notch and just!!! it’s so good!!!!! i have so many feelings!!!! (Juno hits close to home for me, with his self-esteem issues and depression and just…yeah, so i gushed about him there. i have a lot of feelings about the other characters but i’ve seriously rambled so much already so I WILL REFRAIN. also? gushing TOO much about a certain someone spoils the enjoyment of getting to know them at the same time Juno does) i REALLY enjoy audio drama-type podcasts so that’s mostly what i listen to. i’m also really into true crime and weird theories and occult stuff, but i’m particular about the podcasts i listen to for that. basically, i get attached to a specific host(s) and it’s hard for me to listen to anyone else talk about similar things haha. so as far as that goes, i love The Last Podcast on the Left (haha i get a bit nervous rec’ing this one because it’s really offensive, mostly in the early eps, and is def not for everyone but honestly!! i just love these boys a lot, and they discuss p much everything i’d ever be interested in ever). this one also led me to listen to Page Seven, which is celebrity gossip but honestly just really enjoyable to me. Two of the hosts from that show (Marcus is a LPOTL host as well) also do another show called Sex and Other Human Activities, which i’ve listened to a bit and enjoyed and deals with a lot of different issues - like sex, but also delving into depression and different things the hosts and their friends have gone through. but as far as non-fiction podcasts go, that’s pretty much it? i’m still planning on checking out Radio Dispatch, but that’s honestly mostly because it’s Molly (from Page Seven) and her brother and like i said, i have a problem. other podcasts i know of and have been meaning to check out: Hello From the Magic Tavern, The Adventure Zone, Pleasuretown, Lesser Gods, Tales of THATTOWN..... and ok, probably others but this has gotten excessive i am so sorry friends (some of the links may accidentally be wrong and i am very sorry)

What’s your favorite scary movie? I'm a wuss who doesn't really like scary things. Does Fright Night (2011) count as scary horror? Because I seriously love that movie. For some reason. lol. I almost feel like it should be a guilty pleasure, but I gave the sentiment of guilt up years ago.

Favorite not-scary Halloween movie? No brainer. Hocus Pocus. The greatest Halloween movie ever made and I've tried to watch it every year since it came out in 1993. I hear they're talking about doing a remake, to which I say, "Nooooooooooo please. Don't."

Who did you root for in Jason VS Freddy? I haven't watched it and I don't know who wins, but I support the destruction of Freddy Krueger. My dad made me watch Nightmare on Elm Street when I was like five. And he also had the mask and claws he would chase my sister and me around the house with. So yeah, he's kinda been a lifelong phobia. To this day, I cannot look at a picture of Freddy.

Favorite horror video game? Still a wuss. lol. Someone cajoled me into playing a horror game once. I can't remember which one it was. But I think all of my screaming was very amusing for them.

What scared you the most as a child? [See above Freddy Krueger scarring which has followed me for 23 years and counting.] But ya know, also ghosts, zombies, and bodies of water.

Which haunted place would you like to visit or have visited? I know I have an answer to this. I just can't remember right now. I have always wanted to look through Bryce Hopsital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It is a mental institution opened in the 1860s which has since (and far too recently) been decomissioned. I know conditions became very horrible over time. It was supposed to house a couple hundred patients but at one point had over 5,000 and they were treated appallingly. So there are understandable reports of hauntings there. I would like to see the facility as it was, but apparently the university next door (which I actually attended for a year) has purchased it and is currently renovating it for their use. Which, to me, sounds like you're just asking for your new building to be haunted. And it's also a shame because I love old architecture and I feel like they're either going to take it all out or cover it up. I will agree that it does need to be renovated though. Because guess what happens to an abandoned building next door to a university? Drunk college students happen. I know there are places outside of Alabama I would like to visit, places I put on a to-do list, but I'm having trouble remembering them.

What’s the scariest myth/urban legend from the town or country you’re from? I wish I knew more word of mouth local legends. I'm not cool enough to be near the gossip. Haha. I know Alabama has a lot of ghost stories. (Because, ya know, it's Alabama. Not the most savory of histories.) There's a bridge not too far from where I live where a woman running away from her wedding was crossing it only to be run over by a carriage. And she haunts the bridge-- even though it has since been replaced. Apparently people can hear horses galloping and a woman screaming. I don't know if I'm brave enough to drive over it. Hahaha. There's also the hole that won't stay filled. A preacher/Union supporter was hanged during the Civil War, but because he was so tall, they had to dig a hole in the ground so he could actually hang. And, as you can probably guess, anytime someone tried to fill in the hole, they would return and find it emptied. It's also said every man in his lynching party died unnatural deaths. I think that story is in a book called 13 Alabama Ghosts that I really need to read.

Any cryptids local to your area? I don't... think so? Just a lot of ghosts. We're lousy with ghosts. But I'm sure there's something. Lots of woods around here. There's probably been a few Bigfoot sightings. No doubt. The wampus cat sounds familiar. I think it's supposed to have been seen around here. Big black panther-like cat. (Coincidentally, that is also my Ilvermorny house.)

Do you have any personal ghost or paranormal stories? I saw a will-o'-the-wisp a couple years ago. The last house I lived at was in the middle of nowhere in the woods on a dead end street. The start of the street intersected a cemetery. As in there were graves on either side of the narrow road and you had to drive through it. (Old cemetery too. It has graves from the Civil War.) At that point in time, I worked late and didn't get home from work until almost 9pm, meaning it was always dark driving home through this cemetery. Sometimes there was fog, making it extra creepy. One night there was someone walking through the fog, making it SUPER creepy. And then one clear night I was driving through and I saw a dim blue light out of the corner of my eye. At first I thought it was one of those solar powered crosses people put on graves that glow at night. (Which are creepy all on their own.) But when I looked over, I noticed it was moving. I then thought it was someone with a flashlight, but there was no beam of extending light. Just a blue orb hovering above one of the graves, moving up and down, back and forth in a slow little dance. I slowed down and studied it to see any outward cause, but... just a will-o'-the-wisp I suppose. btw, this was before I knew what a will-o'-the-wisp was. It remained the "I saw a glowing blue ball above a grave" story until I knew how to classify it. Oh, and also I was haunted at the house I lived at before that one... Which was a townhouse right next door to a graveyard. Items would just fall off my desk and other surfaces, and I had a recurrent nightmare of a shadow man. And one weird dream where the leaves and branches of the tree outside my window spelled out a name and left me with the overwhelming and undeniable sensation that it was the last name of someone buried on the other side of the fence. I never confirmed it though.

Favorite monster, creepy mythical creature, or cursed object? I like vampires when done right-- as in scary monsters, not lovesick wimps. Also djinn. And ghosts (though, yes, I am afraid of them). Sirens. The base human fear of man versus himself and a lack of control associated with lycanthropy. I like dreamcatcher mythology. Oh wait, I forgot my absolute favorite. Duh-doy. I love immortals. God, I love immortals. Especially when it doesn't have to be connected to and distracted by vampirism. Stand alone immortality. Oh, yes, yes, yes. The dramatic hopelessness of a person being wise and experienced but watching anyone they care about die. Watching themselves slip into inevitable madness as the mind stretches past its limitations of memory and normality. The longing for a death that shuns them. I love immortals who are unable to die. It's so deliciously tragic. Oh, the plots you can write with an immortal. I have several immortal OCs for different stories and I just like to think about them sometimes. Immortals are great. Yay immortals.
