Thoughts on Targaryen jaytim 👀 with Jayson with a very big dragon Vhagar style?

Jason would go super hard with a huge Vhagar style dragon! Even if it's old and always sleepy. haha But yeah, generally I think a Targaryen AU could be interesting, what with the family stereotypes/expectations, reputation outside the family, and of course how we know their relationship does inevitably turn out and the way that may be perceived within the context of the world once its public knowledge. I think it would be interesting no matter the route it takes, whether its the Greens vs Blacks- divided Targaryen house dynamic or a more unified one like with Aegon and his sisters. Im a little drawn toward the divided house just because I like drama that can make you ugly cry - but as a visual- I do think it would be a powerful sight to see both of them on dragons, married, and fighting as a unit. Power couple kinda vibes. Even if they may be committing some kind of atrocities. lol

Hello anon! I also now cannot find that ask...

I have not yet checked out Embers--unfortunately I've been swamped with work the back half of this year at the IRL job :/ I love fics that dig into culture and the spirit-world though, when I have the headspace to appreciate the world-building!

(I'd also be curious your thoughts -- I've heard the fic's rather Aang-critical? I am an Aang lover so I may be hurting for my guy...)

As for ATLA longfic recs, in no particular order...

The All's Fair series by @lovelyelbowleech is a MUST, amazing characterization, so many different interpersonal and plot threads that come together in such a satisfying manner

Two Drama Queen's on a Shirshu by mindbending is a delight, very much crack treated seriously and blending comedy with punching you right in the feels

While Mighty Oak Do Fall by @a-witch-in-endor delivers so much world building and cultural exploration goodness, on top of delightful character arcs and a wonderful take on Zuko (Where the Stars Do Not Take Sides is also an excellent more Azula-focused fic)

Fighting Evil by Moonlight by @sword-and-stars is an EXCELLENT modern superhero AU, I am absolutely obsessed with it

Unchained Melody and Another Brother by avocadolove are excellent, they really run with their canon AU premises and bring them to such fun places

hey, batter, batter, what? and the Boo Chronicles by @ofherlionheart are super fun modern AUs, really great characterization and great writing

Boomerangs and Rainbows by mindbending may seem heavy based on the tags, but its also so so clever and funny and so much fun. I think about the ending and giggle regularly

Mark Time by foil definitely *is* heavy, I stayed up for too late reading it and it absolutely broke my heart and the moments of catharsis were wonderfully done

At the Top of the World by Lady_of_the_Flowers is an excellent modern AU that is a really great exploration of colonial dynamics and the Zukka relationship within that (also, Epistles I always shout out as the Burning Bright inspiration--BB started basically as a fic of a fic of Epistles, and its a must read imo)

And I'll Do Anything You Say (If You Say It With Your Hands) by @goldrushzukka is EXCELLENT, its everything my "lovers to oh know this might be feelings" heart could want, with amazing Gaang friendships throughout

Feels Like We Only Go Backwards by @oldpotatoe is a wild ride, the emotional high are incredible and the narrative tension is amazing and you will scream and it will be wonderful

Will We Last the Night by VSFic and CSHFic is a super fun canon AU that spends such good time building the Zukka relationship and really delivers

And because you said "ATLA fics" and not Zukka fics, I'm also going to recommend the Substitute series by Dracze (modern AU) and People in the Mirror by Nele (canon-verse). Both are Jeeko, both build out Jee's character in amazing ways, and both do such fun things with narrative irony and outsider POV when it comes to Zuko. (The things Nele can do with a single sentence truly blow my mind, I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you love worldbuilding and cultural exploration and fun with bending. PitM is one of THE foundational, influential works in the ATLA fandom for me)

what's ur ideal brutalia dynamic and scenario?

First and foremost I need Bruce to be humble, like I know you're THE Mary Sue Bruce, you can do anything with plot armor but look at THE woman Denis gave you, you CAN'T take her for granted! Obviously with the whole Garrison thing that stained Talia's character ignored.

I love the scenario of them living happy, loving and married. Morticia and Gómez Addams vibes if you will.

On the other side of the coin though, I do adore how tragic they can be, Bruce can be so guilt ridden and I love and see very easily how much he'd suffer on how his morals and ideals would keep him from the first woman he ever really loved, the mother of his child.

Mutual yearning, so much pinning, whoever is witnessing this idiots in love is in agony.

And I need Talia's character to be respected and not treated like she's the bitter ex who just can't get over Bruce. (Hate that)

So essentially mutual respect and lots of infatuation from each other. They're both FREAKS damn it, traumatized and weird and both match each other nature, tragic how their dynamic don't get further explored in canon or fanon.

There's also the bit of how they can a mirror parallel for jaygrant, I love that for them

Expedition Au

I can see MN!Alice visiting FG!Norton when she's awake between hibernation periods as well as her other friends and them vice versa.

Oh my heart oh my heeaarrttttttttt 😭😭😭 yeeeeeesssssess!!! 💕💕😭😭💕💕 Absolutely Absolutely!

Alice:

Her waking up and listening out if anyone else is awake. Then getting up, stretching out, and making her way over to Melly, picking some of the flowers out of the way so she can see her sleeping face. Satisfied that Melly is well she makes her way to where Frederick hasn’t moved since his final transformation day. She picks off and wipes off a lot of the extra overgrowth, concern still present for him but he is definitely still alive so she gently pats the side of his head and fixes his hair a little before getting up and making her way to

Norton who is a little further away by the mountain side. Once she reaches him she carefully fixes his hair and kisses his forehead before curling up under his arm by his side and laying there a while with him and telling him about her dreams, hoping he can hear her. “I don’t like being the only one awake…it’s so lonely…but I don’t want to take you from your dreams….” “The dreams, of what could have been….are the best part.”

(which makes me think they are 'sane', aka they are hella unhinged compared to how they used to be)

but she would certainly take time to polish his rocks and get all the dust and rubble all of him that fell from landslides and such from the mountain, getting him all cleaned up again.

Melly:

When she wakes up alone she would likely do a check up on all the insects and creatures, then check along the nearest part of the barrier, before looking over Alice to make sure she is still in her dream state and comfortable, then looking at her trees to see how they are doing and trimming any that are trying to attach to her.

She then goes over to Norton. Sometimes she wakes him up just to piss him off, but usually she just makes sure he is still alive and hasn’t melded with the mountain at all and cleans off any fallen rubble off of him.

Before heading over to Frederick, cleaning off the extra overgrowth then placing some fermented juice she’s been making next to him. “You could likely drink an entire winery’s worth of wine by this point…its a shame this is all I have for you…..”

As she sits there she notices an unchanged horse walking up next to her. She picks it up like a kitten under its belly and lifts it up to examine it "I....haven't seen one of these since..." her eyes widening as she stands and looks behind her "are there people here?"

Norton:

He would look for any new signs of Orpheus messing around again before going over to Fredrick to clean off the new overgrowth. He would likely sit in silence next to him for a bit before checking on

Melly, and likely paying it forward by waking her up to piss her off sometimes but usually getting the flowers out of her face and then griping at the insects to “give her some damn space once in a while”

Then going to check on Alice and hang out with her (until he starts fading back to sleep again and returns to his spot to do so). But he would trim the trees and their branches that are getting too clingy with Alice and then clean up her feathers making sure they are clean and shiny, humming while he does so. He would also return the favor of telling her about his dreams and hoping she can hear him like he can hear her.

He can't lay in the trees with her without ruining her nest so he just picks her up out of her nest and hold her to snuggle with her for a long while (so the trees that make her nest have a moment to get all re-poofed and comfy again) and then put her back all perfectly comfy like~

Frederick:

He won't wake up long enough to move until after the arrival of Naib, and he would have to pull himself out of the ground cause he would be half buried. The other's let this happen so he would be secure and just kept the overgrowth from fully covering him. So the image of him lifting his head and having to forcefully pull his shoulder, that he has been laying on, up and out of the ground with a great deal of effort.

Then seeing all the fermented juice sitting there in hand made bowls and such like "......what is this...."

His eyes then spotting a 'small' person and widening "???" Naib trying to stay completely still like Frederick is some sort of giant wild animal: "......they assured me that leaving me alone here with you would be fine since you never wake up.......apparently these lands like to f**k me, I guess"

Frederick shakes his head like he is seeing stars, then wincing and putting and hand to his head "the damned ringing...." he tries to get up and stand

Naib: "WOAh no, hold on! I am almost positive that is the last thing you should be doing--!!!"

but Frederick finding trouble staying up right as vertigo hits him like a truck and begins falling over only for Norton to start running to catch him and stand him up right

Norton/FG: "Hey! You're finally awake~"

Melly and Alice come running over with both excitement and relief on their faces

-Naib clears his throat- Norton having Frederick lean on Melly so he can kneel down and see Naib a little better: "turns out you ARE a lucky charm~" -and does his signature FG grin, referencing something he said to Naib when he first woke Norton up on accident- Naib: "....wonderful..." -was here to find their bones and collect their data and findings, not any of this-

Sometimes I read things that seem hopeless but then I remember the time I was at a water park sitting on the ground in agony from my bad back and some toddler ran up to me, did a fortnite dance, and ran off giggling, and it instantly cheered me up. Some kid I didn't know and will probably never see again saw a miserable person and did a silly dance for them & I think that's pretty fundamentally human and awesome :)

That is pretty awesome. I hope that kid is still considerate and outgoing like that. The world needs more of that.

Id like to see your version of Werewolf Makoto

here he is! the design i based him on is down below along with all the sketches i made before i landed on this particular design think he turned out pretty neat though! feel the concept of Makoto dressed as a werewolf transformed as a werewolf is a little cute too which is the main direction i went for this! additionally, cus i feel like mentioning this, his outfit just amuses me a bit cus it legit looks like he just grabbed a shirt he owned, wore a tank top underneath, and put on some ears and gloves and called it a day. at least he tried! furthermore, cus this amuses me, i like to think that, while transformed, let's say it happened during a halloween party at the school, no one really knows he's ACTUALLY a werewolf and any time makoto attempts to maybe like, ask for help or explain his situation, everyone is just like "wow makoto. though the outfit needs a bit of work, you really went all out with the make up prosthetics" and any time like, they touch the wolf parts, thinking it's a costume, makoto flinches but they just think the guy's a bit too into the costume and gossip about it behind his back. not everyone in his class (or other classes attending the party) does this but like, it's a funny thought to imagine!

thinking about scruffyverse!jason and reader getting married and the officiant saying “do you, jason peter todd, take [name] to be your lawfully wedded wife/partner/etc” and jason giving this dopey smile with tears in his eyes and whispering “yeah, pockets. i do.”

"It's not too late to run," Dick teased, not sure if Jason was going to be sick or not.

"Fuck you, Dickhead."

It was a small wedding. A handful of people in attendance- Just slightly more than getting married in a courthouse. And Jason still felt like it was too many people.

Too much.

And not for the first time that day, he was irritated that Alfred and Bruce had insisted that he wear a tie. He hated ties. They felt like tiny nooses.

When you'd slid out of his bed after getting a couple hours of sleep, he'd had to make himself let you go. Not ready to surrender you to other people. Not wanting you out of his sight because somehow this all felt too... final. Like the end of an era he wasn't ready to let go of. The end of a childhood he wasn't sure he ever really got to have.

But when the opening strains of an orchestra version of one of your favorite songs started to play and you appeared in the door way- holding a bouquet of flowers made from pages of books too battered to be saved- with more flowers made from book pages worked into your hair. And wearing a dress that made you look somehow both ethereal and sweet- none of that mattered and the tie wasn't why he couldn't breathe anymore.

His heart thundered in his chest ad he wasn't sure he could remember what he was supposed to say. All he cared about was never having to let you go again. Because of all the people in the world you could have said yes to, you said yes to him.

Not just when you were five and all he had to give you was a ring pop. Not just when you were 15 and he wanted you to cut class to help him find his mom. But now. After everything.

Crime Alley, The Manor, Gotham, the one- he didn't care where the fuck he was. Because you were home. The guiding star that lead him out of the dark and reminded him that Robin or Redhood, he was still Jason Todd.

His lips felt numb. And your hands were like ice in his. He could feel you trembling across from him. Your eyes over bright. And for just a second, he vaguely registered you full name- A middle name he sometimes forgot you even had. And he smiled a little when he had to stop himself from calling you 'Pockets'.

Everything sounded like it was coming from under water.

He hardly noticed the vows coming out of your mouth, too busy trying not to cry. Or pass out.

And it wasn't until he was kissing you, pulling you against his chest, sweeping you up off your feet to applause that anything snapped back into focus.

"I'm your problem now, Jay. It's all legal-"

"And I couldn't think of a better problem to have," he said, leaning down to kiss you again.
