God i cant believe i'm seriously gonna do this (discussing mare fuori) but like. I went on twitter and it's painful how people flat out don't get what the series, despites all of its flaws, is screaming at the audience because of shipping wars. People seriously complained about Kubra not wanting to marry Pino because they are both eighteen, have a whole life in front of them and Kubra wants to study and actually have an opportunity to better lives of immigrants like her mother and marrying would just cut opportunities short for BOTH of them and they leave on good terms!!! Because they have both matured enough to recognize that sometimes!! Lovers drift apart!!! And that's okay!!! That's the whole culmination of Pino's character development!!! But people don't like it because "muh ships"

Or the Edoardo/Teresa/Carmela love triangle. Like people genuinely think it's a shipping thing and not a deliberate contrast of two different worlds, with teresa being the bored wealthy and with carmela being the desperate poor, and how they get swindled by the camorra (edoardo). None of them are supposed to win edoardo's love!!! Teresa isn't edoardo's way out because edoardo is going to do what he's done to carmela and find a new woman once he gets bored of her and said new woman would permit him to clim on the social ladder!! Not only the characters in the series say it, it's blatantly shown when they show edoardo leaving teresa to go after the ricci's money after carmela tells him where they are!!!!
