Yandere!Zbaltazar x Human!Reader

TW/CW: Yandere behavior, death, swear words.

Zbaltazar hasn't been meditating that much lately, something very strange coming from him...

Exactly today, you complete two years of living with robots, your adventure of finding a way to continue living in a city with almost no vegetation was difficult for you, but with the help of a certain cat freeing everyone, everything worked out.

And of course you weren't alone during this whole period, because you were the first (and probably, the last) human to be seen in Walled City 99. You created a certain fame, and that's how a certain group of robots quickly heard about your existence.

Everyone was equally fun, Momo was someone who always had something new to talk about, Doc always helped you out and Clementine was someone who was very reliable. But among all these companions, the one you grew the most affection was Zbaltazar.

Zbaltazar is such a knowledgeable companion and often has an answer for you on any question, at first Zbaltazar seemed to be always bothered by your presence even if admitting to have a curiosity about you, but still, Zbaltazar was the one you spent the most time with. Nowadays Zbaltazar always has free time to be with you, always talks to you, and shares secrets with you that probably no one else has heard, the two of you have created a large bond of trust and friendship during these two years.

It was already night, and the moon was high in the sky, you've just left the bar and now you're walking alone in the streets of the Slums, you didn't know if it was so necessary to have a party to celebrate two years of living with companions, but either way you didn't mind having or not having a party, but you'd be lying if you didn't want Zbaltazar to participate. the same goes for Clementine, she didn't show up, she even gave you a hug earlier in the day and stuff, but after that, no sign of life.

Speaking of the devil. You rummaged through your sweatshirt pockets, and pulled out a crumpled paper with a note on it.

"Come at my apartment when dusk, I have some news ;]" It was what was written.

Zbaltazar sent this note to you early this morning, and so far, he haven't show up either, you only wonder how excting those news are for him to just disappear out of nowhere.

Moments later of a long walk, you arrive at Zbaltazar's apartment, a jolt of excitement crawling over your skin. If he took a whole day, and put a smile on that note, it must be good news, you presumed.

Knock knock! You hit your fist on the door excitedly.

...

30 seconds passed, and you decided to knock on the door again. Knock knock!

You started to question things a bit, why his apartment anyway? It could be at the antville... But apparently he chose the apartment he hasn't visited for years. What must be so special? The thought that it might be a declaration of love made your cheeks red– Wait, the hell you are thinking?! You tried shoved the thought away quickly.

Knock knock knock! You tried again. Okay, he's taking too long.

"Zbaltazar?!" You shouted, draining your patience.

Miraculously, the noise of the door opening was heard and all your hope returned when you saw the beloved robot in the doorway.

"Oh, there you are!" Upon his arrival, your face smiled

"I'm so sorry for not answering the door. You see, I had some annoying problems." Zbaltazar moved out of the way, opening the door fully for you by leaning a slightly damaged hand of his by the hand. "Please, enter."

Without any second thought, you enter, looking around with the smile on your face still present, you didn't even noticed Zbaltazar locking the door behind you. You could feel the excitement flow through your veins.

"So? What happened to your hand..."

What you didn't expect, however, was another presence, Clementine's presence, right in front of you, in the corner of the apartment, more specifically. Well, Clementine's dead presence, in this case.

And just like your friend, your happiness died, replaced by cold pressing against your heart. You could feel the uncomfortable silence dominating the area among you.

Your body shuddered, reacting to the pair of cold hands against your shoulders.

"I know. I owe you some explanations." Zbaltazar murmured, gently. However, we both know, a caring voice is not what you need right now.

"Balt? is Clementine okay?" You questioned with no hesitation, your eyes not leaving Clementine's body on the floor, she is your friend and Zbaltazar's too in the end, he definitely should have done something, if not, anything.

But oh, he loves when you call him that.

"Hum... I'm afraid not, she's not."

It all sounded too confusing to you, and the confusion mixed with a possible death resulted in despair building up in you. Why is Zbaltazar acting so calm? Yeah sure, he was always calm, but at the very least he would be stoic, or just anything as a reaction to the body. Who did this to Clementine? She was always one to react, and there were definitely several parts of her metal damaged, especially in the chest and head area, especially the head. Why doesn't Zbaltazar do anything?

"...You did this?"

And you got no answer.

It didn't take too long until the stress has taken over you, and so you turn around. "Zbaltazar, what the hell is your problem"

You froze with the robot in front of you, together with what was right behind it. A wall covered in pictures of you, some you actually remember taking with Zbaltazar, while others are photos that were taken when you were distracted, or even when you were sleeping. Photos that included the others, had their faces furiously scrawled.

"Balt, what the fuck." You spat

Zbaltazar, in the other hand, approached his hands to reassure you. "Y/N, please, I believe we can talk this out."

"What?!" You flinched back. You aren't even sure if you could face him after the suggestion. "What there is to talk about? Clementine is fucking dead and you- you-... Why?!"

"You wouldn't understand." And yet, despite all this, the robot dared to grin. "She certainly didn't. Had to convince her in... Other manners, sadly."

At any second that passed, you were sure you could just break down in tears at any moment. You knew Zbaltazar well, he is, or was your best friend among the Outsiders, bu apparently you didn't knew him enough to predict this. You felt disgusted, at him and at yourself, you wanted to listen to him.

"Balt, please, just tell me whats going on."

"Clementine is the problem. Well, was. Couldn't you noticed how she looked at you?" Zbaltazar glanced towards one of the pictures at the wall, and your eyes followed. It showed a picture of all the outsiders together, including you close to Clementine. "I had to make the first step and quick. She didn't agreed to leave you to me, and you know how hard it is to change her mind, so eventually, this had to happen." Later on, his gaze returned towards you. "Dont get me wrong, Y/N, I was about to take her out, but you came earlier."

"You did all this because you wanted me?"

"You were always so oblivious."

It was fucking sick. Zbaltazar quotes his witness as if Clementine were just an object, a lifeless husk that holded no influence. And the fact he made this just to have the tittle of "your partner"... At that moment, you were in a cold sweat.

"But what happened, happened." He emits a sound similar to a sigh. "And the door is locked."

"What? You really think you're going to get away of it? Lock me here? They will search for me, Balt, some time or other your sick plan will fail!"

"Lock you? Oh no, dear, I'm no animal. I just need you as my partner."

"What?" Your eyes locked to his screen.

"I already finished Clementine, who knows when I finish you. What if I have a knife under my table, or... Right behind me. You certainly don't trust me anymore, I suppose. I have the reputation as well." Without even noticing, Zbaltazar grasped both of your trembling hands, holding them together tightly to his. "Lets be honest, theres only one way of us getting out of this in a friendly manner. Lets just keep this between us, yes?"

Your pupils moved to the corner of your eye, glancing at the locked too door, indeed, no quick path. Even if you ran, he had his hands grasped to yours, at this moment you could even notice his damage fist, earlier evidence of the fight between him and Clem. And when you glaced at Zbaltazar, his screen showed the stupid heart which you considered so dearly in the past. You wanted to spit on him.

I dream about this music video. It might be the best thing Spike Jonze has ever done. I make my kids watch it every few months.
