I LOVE reading your and other people's headcanons on your blog. It's fascinating how many different and amazing interpretations there are of Vlad’s and Danny's relationship. So I thought I could share something too. I was wondering: If pompous pep had a theme or soundtrack, what would their relationship sound like? If you could compose something for them, what would the ideal musical piece look like based on your own headcanons? (regardless of genre and instrument) Due to the different depictions of Pompep, there are countless possibilities for answering this question, which is what makes the whole thing so interesting. I’m not a musician, but I try to describe how I would imagine their dynamic as a theme. I’m a sucker for dark, twisted, and toxic pompep with a lot of miscommunication, power imbalance, and unhealthy relationship dynamics. Their theme would start as a combination of their human themes. Vlad’s song would be quiet, with an unsettling undertone, reflecting his loneliness and longing for love. Danny’s theme—vibrant and playful—would perfectly fill in the “missing” parts in Vlad's tune, creating a nearly perfect harmony. However, as their relationship continues, their ghost halves cause dissonance. Plasmius, whose theme embodies Vlad’s greed, hedonism, hunger for power, and obsessions, would slowly corrupt and manipulate the piece, creating a powerful, melodramatic twist and change of pace. Phantom's moral dilemma would also seep into the theme. He can’t accept that despite their relationship, Vlad cannot and does not want to free himself from his "villainous" behavior. The climax would be messy, dramatic, and devastating. Both half-alive and the only ones of their kind, dancing in a destructive waltz between the borders of the mortal realm and the gates of death as their cores consume each other.
I never gave much thought to an original musical score written for solo Pompep, but this is a great question! As I read your ask I found myself agreeing very much with your descriptions (which were beautiful, by the way, and very accurate, in my opinion). Though I think that Danny's theme wouldn't be solely bright and playful, considering that he's also experienced a lot of teenage angst—bullies, academic disappointment, anger, etc—as well as life-altering consequences of being fried to a half-dead state by his parents' portal. There would be some bittersweet notes in there for sure, perhaps similar in melody to Vlad's theme? Or maybe a segue that joins the great opuses of their lives together. Because that is the one thing they have in common, isn't it? Tragic accidents that altered their lives forever. Turned them into the only two of their kind, just like you said. A beautiful, sorrowful symphony 🎼
