Ever since I got a rare condition called myasthenia gravis that caused me unable to control my eye, I’ve been devastated. It cause me many problem without a proper eyes sight. I can’t read, I can’t drive and I can’t even walk straight-line. But with God’s grace, my conditions are now controllable. I do have friends who are born blind. Now I can imagine how hard their lives is and how hard families gotta works around them. This song is a truly remarkable that depict a story of a minority. #MartinMonday. I could not wait for #FlattopFriday to show you this crazy 102 year old 1915 #Martin 1-21 Spotted at @folkwaymusic in #Waterloo, Canada. So old. So small. So cool. As you may know, the bigger the first number in a Martin's model name the smaller it is. Before #guitar makers started down that slippery slope to extract greater and greater volume from #acousticguitars (so they could keep up with the volume of bands that kept getting larger and larger) and dreadnoughts took over all things #flattop in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, guitars were a lot smaller. Size 5 was the smallest Martin, I believe (YouTube #BobbyGentry's "Ode To Billy Joe" to see her incredible, miniscule, Martin 5-18). Size 2 was a little bigger than 5. Size 1 was a little bigger than 2. Size 0 was the biggest Martin at one point in time! As their #guitars got even bigger, Martin added a 0 (so the biggest was now Size 00) and then another (size 000). Not sure if they made a 0000, but then came the #OM (#OrchestraModel)...and then the Dreadnoughts ("D"), which Martin invented BTW! Anyhoo: size 1 is pretty darn small. And I LOVE it. Albertus Blanchi harp guitar made in 1900 - this beautiful instrument is a very rare piece with beautiful decorations and an impressive sound! Albertus (Alberto) Blanchi was born in 1871 in Nice France. He is the son and pupil of Augustin Blanchi. In 1899 he took over the workshop of his father and soon after he won gold medals for his instruments in Milan 1906 and in London 1908. He built all kind of stringed instruments. Personal models (as the one we offer here) are showing a very high degree of craftsmanship and finish. Albertus Blanchi died in 1941. This unique and well preserved harp guitar of Albertus Blanchi is a very fine instrument. It shows a high degree of craftmanship and is decorated in a very beautiful and unique way. Hard to find such a rare guitar with these high quality materials and these unique decorations. It has a resonance like no other romantic guitar we have had so far. The big body creates a beautiful and dynamic sound. The combination of maple and spruce on this guitar is pure magic. Maple gives clarity to the sound while the spruce top delivers the tonal flexibility and the magic only an old masterbuilt romantic guitar can produce. The guitar has a very fast response and can be surprisingly loud. Beautiful contra guitar (Schrammelgitarre) in the style of a Viennese Stauffer guitar - built by C. A. Wunderlich. With original cap and original transportation bag. This type of guitar was invented in Vienna in the middle of the 19th century and quickly became very popular. Famous guitar builders like Johan Georg Stauffer, Johann Gottfried Scherzer and Franz Angerer made such instruments. The contra guitar is therefore perfectly suitable for accompaniment in the field of folk and Schrammel music. But nowadays it is also used in modern music and jazz. This beautiful guitar was built in the style of the famous Viennese guitars. The label shows C. A. Wunderlich - an instrument maker family with a long tradition (they started in 1854). It has the unmistakable Stauffer headstock construction and is also completely built in the traditional Viennese style. The guitar can be dated around 1890. It is therefore an authentic instrument to revive the music of that time in an authentic way. It has 14 strings and an adjustable neck. The sound is very beautiful, virtuosic and suitable for concerts. It has a great clarity to the sound and provides ta great tonal flexibility. !!! rarity !!! Luigi Filano romantic guitar from 1819, an interesting piece of guitar history from a great luthier. Luigi Filano is the son of Donato Filiano. Like his father, he too has devoted himself mainly to the construction of guitars and mandolins. Through this specialization both of them made a name for themselves in plucked instrument making and are remembered by posterity as very good guitar builders. Their guitars adorn important collections, such as the royal collection in Berlin or the music historical museum in Stockholm. This guitar from 1819 is one of Luigi Filano's masterpieces. This guitar is built as light as a feather and is perfectly worked out in every detail. This gives it a resonance like no other romantic guitar we have had so far. The guitar has a very fast response and can be surprisingly loud. At the same time it retains a wide range of beautiful timbres in all registers. The guitar is now unbelievable 201 years old and as you can see, time has not left it untouched. It has recently been completely restored to make it ready to play. Many cracks have been repaired and in all this care has been taken to keep the sound and playability at the highest level. The guitar has a spruce top and beautiful flamed maple back and sides. There are #vintage #guitars...and then there VINTAGE guitars. What we are looking at here is an 1892 #Martin 2-20. No I am not digitally dyslexic. I did not mean to say 1982... I mean this, guitar, spotted at @folkwaymusic today, was built in 1892! It is a 124 year old guitar. My mind is boggled by the history the instrument has lived through. When it was made, there were no airplanes. Or automobiles. Or refrigerators...or radios even. Benjamin Harrison was President. World War 1 was still 22 years away. Utah, OK, NM, AZ, AK and HI weren't even States yet! I also love it because it's a size "2" which means it's tiny. As you know, I love small guitars! And with #Martinguitars the bigger the first number, the smaller the guitar is, e.g. a size "00" Martin is smaller than a size "000", an "0" is smaller than a "00", a "1" is smaller than an "0".
