For the opal lover...
Neo-Gothic pendant-brooch, c. 1900.
Two bat-eared gargoyles open their mouths to devour a large boulder opal. Above them rise acanthus leaves and a rose window. Further Gothic elements unfold beneath them, terminating in three shimmering opal drops.

Tips for broke witches with a budget of 10$/€:
As someone who started with their craft when they were younger, living in a poor household with little to not money for me available, I know how how it is with a budget so low, that being a "true witch" seems impossible.
Well, I just need to remind you all that for practicing witchcraft, you do NOT NEED everything expensive. In fact you only need so little. Sure, the whole witch aesthetic with all the decorations, the cauldrons etc. looks lovely and most of us would really like to achieve that level of perfectionism, but Witchcraft is much more than that. It is a predominately Pagan practice. Nature is one of the biggest, if not the biggest aspect in it. Sometimes you just aren't really knowledgeable about all the options you're available to.
Tip 1: Nature walks:
As mentioned above, Nature is a big aspect. Almost every ingredient and spell componement is seen outside. Take a walk, go into the woods, get off path, you'll find herbs, fruits, flowers, all kinds of decorations. You can find sticks, bind them in any shape and hang them onto your wall. You can cut off (with Natures permission!) Ivy wreaths and hang them up. Pinecones, pineneedles, treebarks, hazelnuts, feathers, wheats all kinds of grass, everything is out there! Take a look on the ground and maybe you'd be lucky to find a few gemstones (yes, they're just out there!) or if animal bones are something for you even that!
Tip 2: Grimoire/Book of Shadows:
Your witchy journal does NOT have to be that expensive leather bound, old journal that the old antique shop sells for 60 dollars because it has a "magical aura". Yes, how can someone pass on that aesthetic, but your book isn't magick by itself. YOU first put the energy into it and make it something magical to you. Without your journaling and time you've spent, it is JUST a book! Therefore a simple notebook that costs like 1.50 max works completely fine! Mine is a notebook if found in my drawer that has a rainbow reflecting surface, trust me, the aesthetic is the thing you should be least concerned about.
Tip 3: Divination Board:
Self-made is always the cheapest option! Again, like your Grimoire, the board isn't the one with with the magical attributes. It's all you! My first divination board was made out of cardboard paper. You have all the options open, it can just be paper or you could even print one out. The material does not devalue the magical properties.
Tip 4: Pendulum:
A pendulum itself is cheaper than you think, look in the right places and you'll see. But if that is too much you can always make one yourself. You have to keep in mind that the item doesn't come with the magic! You're the one making if something magical. Find a pretty stone on the ground (with luck a gemstone!), tie it to a string and wear it as necklace. There you have it!
Tip 5: Cauldron:
A fire bowl, a normal bowl, a plastic bowl etc.! You can use anything. It depends however on what you do with it. Make sure not to use fire irresponsibly if you plan on burning something in it. Keep a window open and don't burn something in a not substitutional material. There's a reason a fire bowl is differencated from a normal bowl.
Tip 6: Gold, Bronze, Silver etc.
This goes for jewelry, tableware, bowls etc. For example in spells/rituals or offerings to a deity. A plate to put your offerings on or to set the spell on. Look into your cupboards! A glass bowl is a popular one to use since it's neutral in it's symbolic and easy to clean. If you'd prefer something golden or any other other material, ask a grandparent or maybe even parent. They usually have some sort of old tableware that is golden or bronze or anything else. If asked (and you're a closet witch!) tell them it's for decoration or putting a candle on it. The same goes for jewerly. Grandparents (or aunts!) usually have old necklaces and earrings they don't need anymore. Or even brooches with imagery you can connect to a deity maybe.
Tip 7: Tarot Cards:
It depends if you believe in the rule that says you cannot buy yourself a tarot deck. I do! Therefore what I did, was make my own one. It took lots of days but in the end I had a full deck! It's lots of work so if you don't want all that from the start, make yourself only the major arcana. Again it can be made out of cardboard, paper etc. The material really doesn't matter. If you're not familiar with the rule, it says your first tarot deck has to be gifted to you, found, or made by yourself. Infact in my case, all three happened to me!
In conclusion, Nature has ALL kinds of componements. You can find so many things all around you if you just look close enough!
But don't forget, cleansing is important! If you take items off the ground out and about, cleanse them off any negative energy before putting them into your household. If anything you need to know I haven't mentioned, just ask.
Happy witching!

Azul Ashengrotto as Your Boyfriend💜🪸🐚🐙💜
fluffy, fem/neutral!reader
(Sorry it ended up so long I could just talk about this smexy man all day) Remember to drink water <3
Azul had heard a lot about the human world, but only ever experienced it when he enrolled at Night Raven College. That being said, he's totally enthralled with human objects. He loves collectables, novelty items, knick-knacks and anything of the sort. His love and fascination with our material goods shows when he gives you the most random things. "Look at this vintage set I found at an auction." "I saw a what's it called? Ah, snow globe. Look, there's a cat inside that looks like Grim, do you like? It's for you." It's a very endearing trait he has which is exclusive only to you. When he goes shopping you're also on his mind and just adores sharing his finds with his love.
Similarly, your own fascination with his world has led Azul to gift you things from the sea. Beautiful pearl necklaces of whatever color you like, conch shells of different sizes and types, endless seashells, rare gemstones found near the waters, magical items, and if you're into antiques, he'll go retrieve lost items from the sea buried within shipwrecks or dropped by people.
Besides the miscellaneous gifts Azul loves buying you clothes. At first it caught you by surprise, but you realized it was apart of his attraction to our things. "In the sea we don't have a need for clothing, but up here you humans can express yourselves in so many ways. So I thought this dress might look rather nice on you, hm?"
He's the same with perfumes. He just loves spoiling you in all the material things he can find that don't exist in the deep blue.
His office literally has all of the gifts you got him spread out in it on shelves and his desk. He constantly thinks of you, even at work, and treasures everything you make/get him, wanting to keep it forever where he can always see and remember you.
One of his favorite activities with you is reading messages in bottles he finds from the ocean. You're always surprised at how many there are, but you both realize it's actually a pretty big hobby among people even today. Old bottles are especially interesting, its contents mostly containing stories of love and tragedies. You help explain to Azul how people up here think and behave when something doesn't make sense to him (which is pretty often considering how contradicting people are). You collect them to avoid polluting the waters but keep them somewhere safe and respectfully.
He absolutely loves taking you into the waters with him. Whether in human or mer-form. If you love to swim then it isn't much of a surprise to have him as your boyfriend, but if you can't swim or are afraid to Azul will teach you how and be the absolute best, sweetest teacher. Bonus if you watch the sunset together while leisurely swimming or sitting on the sand, it's quite romantic, really. Expect the occasional water tag and playing around as Azul just can't help but tease you when he feels so confident in his natural environment. this may or may not end in some more intimate actions.
Ironically, Azul finds your voice mesmerizing. If he catches you singing while you think no one is around, he WILL stay hidden just to continue listening. "You sing like a siren my dear." "Are you sure you aren't the one who's put me under your spell?" He may come up behind you quietly, wrapping his arms around your waist gently in an embrace while taking in the soft smell of your hair. "Please, don't stop now, I do so enjoy listening to you."
While transformation magic from mer-person to human is more commonly done, transforming a person into the latter is more difficult, but not impossible. The first time you decide to transform into a mermaid , it catches Azul by surprise. You really want to immerse yourself into his world and live in the sea for however long. After much consideration you decide to do it. Who would have thought your tail would be so beautiful. The way your hair flows, you glide effortlessly across the waters, the iridescent scales of your tail reflecting in colorful arrays. Maybe you are a siren. Azul can't decide if he loves you more like this or as a human. You're just too beautiful no matter what.
You two swimming across Atlantica is like a dream; so deeply in love. You get to explore so many amazing things and bond with him in ways you never could have imagined. He shows you all of the different kind of fish, corals, you get to swim with dolphins and sharks, visit different mer-cities. Expect Azul to blow you bubble hearts and kisses because he really can be that cute sometimes.
extra fun if the twins tag along.
His skin, like the twins, is also perfectly soft and radiant. Your hands love to be on him. You caress his cheeks, massage him, rub your thumb over his palm while holding hands. You're almost jealous at how good his skin is! Of course Azul is more than willing to return the favors of touch. You two enjoy long cuddles and hugs.
Honestly, Azul is a 100/10 boyfriend and when he isn't destroying unsuspecting people with his contracts he's just infatuated with you beyond description and if he could he would love on you constantly all day everyday. His soft side is ONLY for you, his gentle touches and kisses, his thoughtful words, the teasing, sweet nothings. Sometimes the dichotomy of this man shocks you, but maybe that's one of the reasons you love him so much.
"The sea witch was defeated by the mermaid and human in the end. Some say it was true love which was strong enough to end her, I used to laugh at that thought, now, I'm beginning to understand its true power."

Concept: secret sands y/n tries to rob Yogurt cream cookie, but yogurt catches them. But turns out they get along (y/n is an antique lover, yogurt loves showing his best wares)
Tumblr media
“Complete this task and many doors will open to you”, the boss said. You weren’t one to back down from a challenge, so you accepted the job. They didn’t call you a Sneaky Veteran Assassin for nothing.
Infiltrate the merchant son’s palace and clean out his treasures. That was the mission
You had thought it would be a piece of cake and it was…at first. Getting inside and sneaking past guards was just routine for you. You scoped around rooms for possible clues or items needed to get you to the treasure room.
After some quick snooping around, you managed to find yourself standing at the doors leadings to the treasure room, you rubbed your hands together in excitement, ready to get your hands on the countless gemstones and artifacts this palace was holding!
You opened the door with confidence, hehe that merchant’s son won’t know what hit them when you…cleared…out…:this room?
You were surprised to see the cookie himself lazing about amongst his riches, the sound of the door opening alerted him to your presence!
Tumblr media
Yogurt Cream: What are you doing? What brings you here?!
Think fast, THINK FAST!
Y/N: O-oh, I’m just a…humble trader! I was told to look for you on here and my do I say that you’ve got quite the collection here! These artifacts are mighty fine if I do say so myself!
Yogurt Cream: Hhmmm...If you're a humble trader, you wouldn't be trying to steal my treasure, right?...Right?
Y/N: Of course not! As I’ve said, I was just told to find you here!
Yogurt Cream: You know, I'm not sure to trust you. Do you have any proof of who sent you here?
Y/N: Is that the Naga’s Heart I spot there? Now that’s quite the treasure!
Tumblr media
Yogurt Cream: Oh yes! That heart is indeed one of my favorites! That is why I am proud to say that it's currently in my collection! You have a good eye!
Y/N: Is that the necklace of various gemstones there? I bet it would look great on someone as nice looking as you!
Yogurt Cream: Hehe, you certainly know how to flatter! Well, I suppose I can’t refuse a compliment. You have quite the eye for treasures, yes? Care to see what else I have?
Y/N: Gladly.
———————————————————————
Y/N: This crown may be valuable, it even has the gemstones of all types embedded in it, but the Cookie having it is certainly more valuable then that~
Yogurt Cream: Oh my, I am flustered!
———————————————————————
Y/N: The Golden Lynx! It shines brightly, but your shine is easily the brightest to me!
Yogurt Cream: Aw stop it, you flirt. You really had my heart skip a beat!
———————————————————————
Y/N: This ornate beetle, worth a lot. But the cookie who has it? Priceless~
Yogurt Cream: Stop this, I might faint with all this flirting. But please continue. I want to see more of this~

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Centipede: ….
Peppercorn: ….
They were just bewildered as they listened in from above on the roof. They were going to try and bail you out of there in case you were caught, but it looks like you have everything under control?
Peppercorn: I guess Y/N Cookie has it under control for now, we just have to wait for the signal, then we clear out the treasure room, alright kid?….Kid?
Centipede: ……
Centipede then suddenly got on her hands and knees.
Centipede: It should’ve been me! Not him to receive compliments!
Peppercorn only rolled her eyes as Centipede continued to complain. Though…if she were honest, she wouldn’t mind getting a compliment from Y/N Cookie too…

Giorgio di Tomaso Schiavone (Dalmatian, ca. 1433-1504), Madonna and Child with Angels, between 1459 and 1460.
In this altarpiece, the Virgin Mary wears gold brocade with pearls, and the Christ Child, with his necklace of red coral, stands on a tasseled cushion. Through these precious materials, the painter has communicated the divinity of the figures. On the parapet at the bottom of the painting is a carnation. Its Greek name, dianthus, means "flower of God."
Schiavone uses the vibrant color of coral throughout this painting and portrays the baby Jesus as wearing a coral necklace and pendant. Having these figures draped in luscious fabrics and fine gemstones set them apart and was a way to depict to the viewer how divine the figures were.
Children were gifted branches and strands of coral beads to wear as a form of mystical protection against evil. Once the child grew up and their strand of beads became too short, they might double the strand and wear it as a bracelet.
Schiavone was born in Dalmatia (present-day Croatia) and immigrated to northern Italy, where he studied with Francesco Squarcione of Padua. On the cartellino (little paper) in the foreground, he proudly identifies himself as the disciple of this master. Like his contemporaries, Schiavone was concerned with reviving the arts of antiquity, as seen by the garlands at the top that imitate Roman sarcophagus reliefs.
