It like JUST recently clicked for me how insane this was

Like I didn't really get it before until I did the thing where I picture myself doing it and can't fathom it.

My girlfriend and I are fighting, maybe even gonna break up. I am in the wrong. She leaves on a dangerous trip. I find out she's in danger, then am given a note from her. It throws my words back in my face.

I am thinking on it so much that the next day I am STILL sitting rereading the single sentence, single word over and over again and can't even listen to what my best friend is saying.

Again, this note is so important to me that I've been staring at it since last night. I woke up this morning and grabbed it to stare at it some more.

My best friend says "you don't have to reread that so many time, it's inactionable". That helps me feel a little better. I say "yeah. yeah, you're right."

Then, what I do with the note that I have kept rereading a single sentence off of for a full day, is - not even walk over to the trash - but CRUMPLE IT UP IN A BALL IN MY HAND and throw it in the garbage.

Not worth the effort to get up to put it in the trash. Not a big emotional moment. Throwing trash is almost a game. And crumpling a note is something almost aggressive.

Whatever the energy is here, it's not right. He took this note seriously. He came back to and reread it. But, even if this isn't about El herself, it would still be about Will. Will's words convinced him SO much so IMMEDIATELY, saying 'looking at that won't help' that he went 'you're right, I will immediately close the door to ever look at it again' when you cared so much about it before that you were fully ignoring him until that point.

Throwing it away is a commitment. That's an "I'm not coming back to this." With how much he had been looking at it...he could have just put it in his pocket.

I understand the setup of the government finding it. But he could have just put it down. He could have left in on the fucking bed. Or even, like I said, walked over, taken a quick breath and dropped it in.

Straight people don't need directions from the people in their life to know how to be straight. Lucas and Dustin never needed to be taught how to interact with/be attracted to girls. They were both instantly drawn to Max because they found her attractive, and they knew how to talk to her. They wanted to rescue the sexy princess lady from the Dragon's Lair arcade game because they are men who are attracted to women.

So why does Mike Wheeler need Lucas Sinclair to practically guide him by the hand when it comes to knowing how to date a girl? Why does the nature of Mike's relationship with El change because of the suggestibility given to him by his older sister?? It's almost like... Mike Wheeler isn't like Lucas and Dustin and doesn't understand attraction to or interaction with girls unless explicitly shown.

I loved reading the Byler slides as much as the next guy, but my only gripe about it is how Mike is said to be using El as his beard from day one. I think some Bylers skip over the connection that Mike and El have, because they do have one, even if it isn't romantic.

They've been bonded together by trauma and Mike (in my opinion) was pressured into beginning a romantic relationship with her because he's a boy, and she's a girl.

Me personally, I don't think either of them really have romantic feelings for the other. El maybe, but I still feel it was a relationship built off of societal pressures and being too young to really understand.

My overall point is, I don't think Mike used El as his beard, but rather is in the relationship because of his own comphet. He sees the relationship as what he ''should'' be doing so the feelings that he is feeling must just be normal, right?

The end of season 3 is his ''oh'' moment for me. When El tells him that she loves him and kisses him, I think that's when he realised, ''Yeah I should... probably be feeling something right now. And I'm not. Oh.'' And, without El in Hawkins to remind him what he ''should'' be, he's able to be himself a little bit more. Grow out his hair, be an outcast, the whole shebang.

Again, all my personal opinion, but I am a firm comphet Mike truther. :))

In putting Will in the beginning of it and cutting back to him, they, once again made it so that Mike wasn't saying "I love you" to El. He wasn't committing to El. He was leaving Will. And that's all they wanted you to be thinking about it.

Is he filling El's heart? It doesn't matter, because all you can think about is "is he breaking Will's?"

Will should not have been there for it to be romantic. If you establish that the action that you've been building to as the big romantic gesture will crush someone's soul...and then you do it?

Yeah, that was not meant to make us feel good.

will forever stand by my statement that stranger things was never supposed to be as popular is it is, and its mainly reached the wrong audience like people who have never been in fandoms and who have less media comprehension (no hate) who can't understand this particular love story, because a lot of them aren't lgbt or/and been exposed to lgbt media. the whole show is for the outcasts and the people who don't feel like they fit in, which due to the fact it has blown up sm it reaches people who dont resonate with that, causing them to misinterpret it.

Rink O' Mania / The Airport Scene™ is the biggest byler proof.

Okay, that title was little dramatic, but It's not too far from the truth.

It's such an amazing piece of evidence because It's one of the proofs that melvins can't make about their ship. A good example of evidence like this is the end of s4. It either means something for byler or nothing, no in between.

There is yet to be an argument against WHY Mike wasn't being himself. (Of course, melvins deny that he wasn't being himself when it is obvious. Even if you don't ship byler, Mike was NOT being himself.)

An argument I've seen some melvins use is how Mike was just trying to impress El. Which could be true, but:

Why did he fake his smile? In here you can literally see that he's faking his smile AT THE SAME TIME AS EL. WHO WE KNOW IS LYING. I mean, okay the outfit was him not being himself, but does he also hate being with his girlfriend?

2. I am sure Mike not being himself around El for this reason would be brought up at some point, no? Why would Mike open up to Will about everything BUT that. He would definitely say something about not feeling like he can be his true self around El.

3. This was never really an issue in previous seasons? I am overdue a rewatch, but if my memory serves me right, Mike never had a problem with being himself around El. Season 3 was more about not being himself in general.

Obviously, he isn't being himself around El - but not to seem cool, but because he is actually in love with Wi- *GUNSHOT*
