u see my hate towards dxton wouldn’t exist this much if they were so awful towards jaren cuz one one thing is hating ben but another is mocking his appearance because comments like “devi keeps getting all this hot love interests to be end up w that ugly man” like i get you all put looks over reasoning but let’s be decent human beings. jaren does nothing to be insulted this way and maitreyi will hate them all.

yeahhh no i get you 100%. there are so many things that diehard d*xtons say that......just rub me the wrong way and feel very gross lmfao. i don't really go out looking for their posts but every now and then i'll come across something in the nhie tag that is just. either braindead or straight up wrong or they just sound like a straight up asshole. and like to be fair i'll be the first to admit i'm not entirely an innocent party bc i have posted my fair share of mean things before but like!!!! idk the difference i see with a lot of benvi shippers vs d*xton shippers is like.....a lot of us genuinely like paxton as a character, even love him, and we love the arc he's had!!! not to be all "blah blah media literacy blah blah" but we don't willfully misinterpret his actions in the show, especially his negative actions, as being "abusive" or "toxic" or whatever just because he reacted like a normal teenager would. we don't hate on the actor for his looks - the only comment on his appearance i'll make is that he is visibly much older than maitreyi - because he is older, and i definitely think they should have cast a younger actor to play paxton, but that's not a dig at darren's appearance bc he's still very much conventionally attractive, it's just that he's, well, 32 as opposed to maitreyi's 21 and jaren's 22.

also like, they act as if jaren isn't attractive which confuses me so much? i may not be into men as a whole but even i can see that he's also a conventionally attractive guy. hot, cute, sexy, whatever you wanna say - he is all of those things! and so is darren! i don't care if you're trying to "defend your ship" or whatever (a ship that has effectively sunk at least as of 3x10 and, if we're being honest, earlier than that), you leave people's appearances out of it lol.

i think d*xton was cute, when they were together. i think they were a sweet short-term high school relationship. i think devi needed to explore that relationship with him in order to let herself fully move past that fantasy she had. i don't hate the ship itself - i just really very strongly dislike a majority of its shippers, for many many many reasons, the ben and jaren bashing just being one of them

Honestly at this point ,I applaud Devi X Paxton shippers for their enthusiasm.

I'd take Devi calling him a dream,looking at Ben while Paxton was right there , and McEnroe noting that Devi isn't getting stomach knots anymore eventhough he thanked her in front of everyone. Plus the whole character of Des serving as her moving on from Paxton and her liking him cementing she fell for someone else, her not having any reaction to him caressing her face 2 EPs pre finale and her being unsure of sleeping with Paxton but her choosing to sleep with Ben instead (though they aren't even dating) as a clear sign of my ship sinking but you know...

I'm a Daxton & portwell and the appeal was actually very similar for me: Big Man on Campus who gets humbled, headstrong girl afraid of vulnerability. The age gap doesn't irk me because the characters are all written as teens though I get why people are hesitant. But narratively, both were very satisfying arcs to watch for me. Just one perspective!

I see your point with Portwell and Daxton having a similar arc, but for me, I hate the way Paxton treats Devi, and from what we’ve heard and seen, Devi only likes Paxton mainly because he’s “hot”. I mean her pros and cons list literally said he has the body and Ben has the brains. It’s just a very shallow relationship and like i mentioned before, the characters might be around the same age or whatever but it’s so obvious with the actors, he’s pushing 30 and she’s a teenager, so I physically can’t stomach seeing them together.

As for Portwell, EJ has never treated Gina the way Paxton treated Devi. He never guilt tripped her and forced her to do his homework or constantly toyed with her emotions (that’s Ricky for you). And for Gina, she fell for EJ because she sees that he’s a really good guy who’s always there for her and everyone he cares about. She literally watched him turn into a better man and she told him to his face what she thinks of him. She never once made a comment about his abs or his physical appearance the way Nini has.

Portwell isn’t a superficial relationship the way Daxton is.

one thing i'd like to address is that now that paxton is a member of sohs faculty, there's.....definitely even more of a gap in where they are in their lives, and also a bit of a power dynamic at play (and like, okay, yeah, whatever, devi's not going to be on the swim team, but like, the point still stands that he's staff and she's a student) and theyre at different points in their lives, even if they're only one year apart. i mean, devi's priorities are finishing senior year, getting into an ivy league, and going to prom. paxton's priorities are being assistant coach (assuming thats what his job is) and, like, paying his taxes or whatever. and good for him!!! i'm glad he's growing into adulthood and getting a job and whatnot! but like they're at such different places in their lives, they want different things! they were never built to last and thats okay - devi got to know what it was like to be with him. she got to be The Paxton Hall-Yoshida's Girlfriend. but he's not The Paxton Hall-Yoshida that she fantasized about anymore! he's (again, assuming) assistant coach hall-yoshida of the sherman oaks high school swim team. he's ready to enter the world of a job and taxes, meanwhile devi's set for spending probably close to the next decade of her life in school. and we already know she wants to go to school on the east coast, meanwhile paxton's dream school was in the southwest and now it appears he's back on the west coast.....idk it's not looking good for d*xtons!!! sorry!!!!!

they are so funny to me! just because we see her pov they think that ben is some abusive person when they have literally both said awful things to each other. and when has devi ever not fought back if something was bothering her? she's a "mess", stubborn and tough when it's convenient for them but a helpless child when they want to villainize ben.

and yeah, it's pretty obvious, at least to some people, that devi isn't romantically interested in paxton anymore. they might bring him back just for drama and to keep the audience interested but i don't think she'll pursue him anymore. she grew too much for it and it would be such a letdown to have her get back with him.

i also think it's funny how they get excited bc devi no longer sees him as a "dream" but a real person bc they think this means she'll fall in love with him or something, when in reality there's even less of a chance for that now bc they have.... nothing in common? they also don't have the chemistry imo. the whole relationship was about devi's infatuation and their friendship. now that devi took the rose colored glasses off i can't see her liking him in a serious, romantic way whatsoever.

I love how Maitreyi said it herself that Devi doesn't think her and Paxton are right for each other. I am now even more convinced that the triangle continuing is just to keep the fans interested.

I really can't see Devi changing her mind in season 4, especially after the whole "Thank you for being a dream" conversation at Paxton's graduation. I didn't talk about this but that is actually my favorite moment in their relationship, and not because I don't ship them (surprisingly). I loved how the show made the point that it's okay to date and not it always be a deep, serious relationship. Personally, I could never imagine being in that kind of a relationship but I think it's a very good message for young people.

It's okay to date someone for kind of superficial reasons, to have fun and just experience things. Sometimes distractions aren't a bad thing. The only bad thing about them is geting stuck in a relationship without properly working through your issues/trauma.

I never want to see girls (and just kids in general) feel bad or dumb about having crushes and talking about guys all the time - you're young, it's okay! I just loved the appreciation and the deeper understanding of Devi's feelings towards Paxton as well as herself in that scene.

imagine replying to one of my posts and saying the show is "based on" paxton instead of a girl dealing with trauma after her dad died. paxton was just a distraction to help her through that, like how many shows have you seen in your life, 3?? and it's explained in a very direct way in the show (through narration). i like the ships and the romance but be for fucking real right now. d*xton stans with the brain dead comments yet again and all bc their ship sunk and now they're salty. like you didn't see me in ur comments after s2 acting like that. grow up

I'm actually curious to hear your thoughts on the possible nhie s4 finale. in an interview maitreyi said that the ending is what she wanted and we all know that she is very much team devi but in an article lang said how devi would choose. I definitely wouldn't mind a single devi but I'm also wondering if maitreyi secretly does have a favorite pairing and thinks being team devi also includes devi allowing herself to be loved for who she is and not how others expect her to be (but that's probs a reach lol)

while i want to say for sure that maitreyi prefers ben for devi over paxton, i can't comment on that, obviously. she never really makes her preference for the love interest known in interviews. she is solidly team devi, and what maitreyi cares about most is devi's happiness. which she should! and that's what i care about, as well, hence why i'd be satisfied with either a benvi endgame or devi ending up by herself.

i don't think that's a reach at all though, honestly. i think it hits the mark right on the head: maitreyi wants devi to feel secure in herself, wants devi to love herself for who she is, and to have someone who loves her just as she is, as well. and who else has she never had to change anything for? who else has she always been herself around, even during their rivalry? who else loves her exactly as she is?

again i don't think maitreyi is solidly team paxton or team ben. i don't think she prefers one over the other at all, because she prioritizes devi over anyone and anything else. and if devi ends up having a happily ever after with paxton, i'm sure she'd love that. if it's ben, she'd love that too. devi, single and happy with herself? same thing.

i sort of see it the same way (sort of because, personally, i will be very dissatisfied with a d*xton endgame after the events of 3x10 lol) because all that matters to me is devi's happiness.
