Meadow Pipit (anthus pratensis)
The Meadow Pipit was first formally described by Carl Linnaeus, a Swedish naturalist, in 1758. Old folk names for the Meadow Pipit include "tit lark", "peet lark", "chit lark" and "titling" - referring to its small size and resemblance to birds of the lark species.
