Anthropology is scoring optional. Not only does the syllabus of this subject is well-defined but overlaps with GS papers. Dr. Suresh, one of the faculty members at Eden IAS and has teaching experience of 5 years, believes that a good Anthropology answer requires a lot of content and pictorial representation. Since the content is too vast, the only way to master the art of compilation is to practice a lot.

How can I cover anthropology syllabus for UPSC in a short span of time especially after prelims?
Now that one has chosen this subject as an option, the main concern that arises is how to approach the anthropology syllabus for UPSC after prelims. This is a short period of time, say hardly 3–4 months, during which one must complete all of the GS papers with practice answering questions and current affairs. Hence, it would not be a smart idea at this time and would carry a higher level of danger to purchase random optional materials from the market without first verifying their validity. Therefore, one can participate in counselling programs or interactive sessions where one can prepare everything from a single platform.
With a similar concept, one of the most prestigious platforms and consistently in demand for its programs among many candidates—EDEN IAS—has developed a special set of programs that are guided by Dr. Suresh Gurramkonda, a teacher with five years of experience. In 48 classes, which is the best amount of time, they cover the entire curriculum for Anthropology Paper-I using interactive lectures, class notes, and carefully curated study materials. This will help the candidates finish and revise their syllabus in such a short amount of time.

What are online sources to prepare for the anthropology optional for the UPSC CSE?
Because it has been consistently scoring over the past few years and has been an optional subject for many UPSC CSE toppers, anthropology is one of the most popular courses among UPSC aspirants. This makes it one of the most popular choices among candidates. Its short syllabus, which is also extremely engaging, is another reason why many students choose it.
Since every platform I tried was useless and was based on bookish language, my methodology to learn something new and be exposed to new horizons was being completely destroyed, and I was not succeeding in my goals, I was struggling to find some platforms that could help me. Then, out of nowhere, I stumbled upon one of the video lectures by Dr. Suresh Gurramkonda Sir, an expert mentor and faculty member in the field of anthropology who works for the prominent and reputable organization EDEN IAS which is categorized as the best coaching institute for IAS in Delhi and also one of the popular one in anthropology optional online coaching.

How do I prepare for the UPSC Mains optional subject anthropology?
My background is in economics, therefore when I first started preparing for the UPSC, I was pretty perplexed about the optional. I also did not want to take the similar optional because of the extensive curriculum and difficult study required for it.
I then begin researching several fields, shortlisting sociology and anthropology as the two sets of optional from which I will select one. After doing some quiet research and visualising the entire syllabus of both topics, I made the decision to choose UPSC mains optional subject anthropology because it interests me more. Finding the books or resources for it was the other important issue that was in front of me, so I started looking for it.
Through the internet, I discovered certain books that were almost universally recommended, but in the end, I became drawn into them and had no idea how to get out. Then, out of nowhere, one of my friends advised that I take the optional anthropology course offered by EDEN IAS, which would be taught by subject expert Dr. Suresh Gurramokonda Sir, who has already trained many successful civil servants. In addition, the teaching style of this institution has earned it recognition as the best coaching institute for IAS in Delhi.

Which is the best material for anthropology optional for UPSC?
The syllabus for anthropology is enormous yet not very in-depth, making it a distinctive topic. It's not necessary to research endlessly and become a leading expert on every subject, as is required in certain humanities courses.
When I started looking into this using the internet, I discovered that there were many resources available, and I realised that it would be quite challenging for me to look into everything, so I started asking some of my known people in this field for advice on the best preparation route. Through my research, I discovered that EDEN IAS, one of the Best coaching institute for IAS in Delhi, is renowned for its engaging sessions on anthropology for the UPSC, which are led by Dr. Suresh Gurramkonda, a subject expert with more than five years of teaching experience.

Anthropology Optional - Join the best Anthropology Classes |Batch - 21st August
Tumblr media
These days, Anthropology is one of the most preferred optional subjects. As per Dr. Suresh who takes Anthropology Optional at Eden IAS in Karol Bagh, this is because of numerous factors.
Firstly, the syllabus of Anthropology is pretty well-defined as compared to other optional subjects. It is loaded with lots and lots of probable questions. Dr. Suresh provides students with a booklet of questions that have a high probability of appearing in the optional papers.
Secondly, this subject is not dynamic in nature. Since UPSC cannot throw current affairs questions in your face, it is easy to score. Anthropology is a combination of archaeology, cultural anthropology, biological anthropology and linguistic anthropology. The subject, on a whole, is of static nature.
Thirdly, this subject has clear and more glamorous scoring prospects.
Dr. Suresh believes that if studied properly, this optional can turn the tables for you. It not only fetches you with a good score but on a whole, with your desired rank by elevating your rank. For more information, visit our website: Anthropology Optional
