I was in my hotel room and I got a text from my friend Maynard Keenan. We had joked about the two of them having a celebrity Jiu Jitsu match since they were both serious enthusiasts. He let me know Tony was no longer with us and then I looked it up online and spent most of the morning in this surreal kind of shock. I really admired Bourdain, and I couldn’t imagine that a guy like him would ever get to the point where he would want to take his own life. I just thought he was one of the coolest people alive and that his perspective and insight would navigate him through the most difficult of waters that many people encounter in life. To this day I’ll think about him and wonder if I could have steered him into a better place if I was around during his last day. Woke up 4a, derped til 5a, fell back to sleep, woke up again around 9a, got up, brewed some coffee, and ate a meal prep for breakfast. Derped around for a little and started shopping for car parts... whyyyy? Decided to finally do some ricer mods with headers. I've put it off long enough and kinda deserve it... maybe. I stopped by EVS motors afterwards to pick up a check then had to get a backplate for a commissioned composite I have to do. Decided to go to Galleria parking garage and areas around it. That took about an hour then went back to Chinatown and camped out at Taphouse to do work. Spent more time chatting and working on Taphouse logo designs than finishing work for clients =\. Sighs. Had to take a break so went to gym at 9:30p. Chad was finishing up his workout and left the gym to me. It was leg day so did a few squats at 75% and some cardio stuff (air bike, air runner, lunges, etc). Afterwards, met up with Tommy and KevinC at genjis. Ana and Alex joined us a little later. I was full from omurice, Yakiniku, and other snacks. Had a couple of cold sake shots. Didn't really feel anything which is a good thing... prob bc full of food and super hydrated. We left at 2p, went home, showered, and derped for awhile. Fell asleep around 3:30a...

Notes:

- Anthony Bourdain passed away from suicide. It kinda hurts because I really envied what he was doing. He documented his travels of meeting people and eating foods from all parts of the world. That's actually what my blog is mostly about, my travels and food. I think that's what people know me for now because they'll ask where did I go and what did I do. I really have to thank Mr Anthony Bourdain for that... RIP sir.

- Talked about car mods to a friend today and told me it was the last thing on his mind bc his cat was sick. I'm not a cat person but I know what it means to lose a pet (family member). His cat has an incurable virus called FIP in which a virus affects antibodies which are supposed to help protect the body but instead WBCs are affected and then sent throughout the body. Organs slowly start failing and the cat has a couple of days to a month. I'm really sad for him and and his fiance. He asked what he should do and what I did. I told him how I was too busy to take care of Ippo and it was my fault he got sick. It was too late when his organs failed and decided to let him pass naturally. Ippo passed away and I had to bury him. My friend said that sounds intense. I guess he plans on cremating. I really do miss having a pet but I don't deserve one...

- Hanging around Ana reminds me of Chrissy... sighs.
