Starter for: Anthony Abbott & Ela Wood ( @antabbott ) Location: Flourish & Blotts
With the help of her wand, Ela moved the last book onto the highest shelf in the store. Stocking up the books was not one of the most fun things to do with a store that had shelves from floor to ceiling but magic made it easier. The day was nearly at the end and she could not wait to go home and see Oliver again. She was grateful for the many people in her surroundings that would help her babysit, look after her son so she could take care of him. Both caringwise and financially.
The doorbell rang and with her eyes on the book in the eyes, Ela started speaking. "I'm sorry, we are closing down for the day, I am going to have to ask you to leave," she exclaimed. The woman lowered her wand before turning around and that made her stop in her tracks. She hadn't seen the blonde giant in the store for months and a wave of relief washed over her to be seeing him again.
Before Ela fully realised, she moved towards Ant and wrapped her arms around his neck, which was quite the task seeing as he was surely 7 inches taller than her. "You are actually here, I can't believe it," she said, a smile forming on her lips. A genuine smile and happiness. Two things she hadn't felt in quite some time but they were happening right now. "Why didn't you tell me that you were coming back?"

Ela closed up the shop behind the two of them and then turned so she could move in the right direction of her apartment. A chilly wind blew through the street, causing her to move closer to Anthony for a bit. Her hand found the inside of his elbow so she walk directly next to him.
"So, you are back here in Wales for a bit. I like to hear that." Ela tried to fill up the quiet that had filled the air between the two of them. She took a deep breath before she looked up at him. "I am in need of your help. I... Well, I've never been to Patrick's grave yet. I was too scared to go alone. Will you come with me?"
Ela was Anthony's family and it wasn't just because of his best friend. He'd known Ela for as long as he had known Patrick. She'd always been close to his heart in one way or another. Whether she knew that or not.
"I can't wait to play with him and teach him all the things," Anthony murmured, a grin on his face, "He'll be doing circles around you before you know it." It was bittersweet because he knew it should be Patrick teaching his son. Anthony had played in school and he still played now every now and then for fun. He hoped Oliver would love the sport as much as they had.
He nodded, taking a step back so that she could get whatever work she needed done. When she squeezed his hand, he pulled her into another hug without hesitation. "I'm happy to be home," he replied, before letting her get to her work.
"A walk sounds nice. Lead the way," he murmured, gesturing ahead of them. The night was cool but not unbearable. Anthony kept a comfortable silence as they walked to the apartment, his hand hovering above Ela's lower back as they walked.

A warm feeling spread through Ela's body when Anthony mentioned that she was family too to him. She hadn't completely thought about it herself but it was true. He was family to her as well. He meant a lot to her which she only realised more now he was standing in front of her again. And by how much she had missed him.
"Just wait until he gets older, and the new toy brooms get higher. You do know you will have to be the one playing with him then, because I don't have any talent in my body regarding Quidditch." She loved watching it, always had done so in Hogwarts as well. She had often been cheering for Gryffindor to the annoyance of her own housemates in Hufflepuff.
"It's not a bother, let me quickly wrap up here and then we can go." For only a second Ela hesitated before reaching for his hand and softly squeezing it. "I truly am happy you are back, Ant. It wasn't the same without you here," she told him. The woman let go of his hand before quickly hugging him once more and then she moved into the back of the shop so she could finish up there and grab her stuff. It didn't take long before they were standing outside of the store once more.
"Are you okay with taking a walk to the apartment?"
When Anthony had returned from Romania, Ela was the first person that had came to mind. He didn't think about it or what that might mean. He just needed to check on her. To make sure that she and Oliver were okay. It was his duty since Patrick died. It was nothing more than that. He wrote to his sisters almost as much as he did Ela (probably not). Their surprise could come the next day. He couldn't wait to see the shock on their face. But for now - Ela was his priority.
"Yeah, of course. You're my family too, Ela," Anthony replied without a second thought. It was the truth and he didn't think much before he spoke. It was something that usually got him into trouble. He chuckled at Ela's description of Oliver, more excited to see him by the minute. "I'm glad he loves the sport. I can't wait to see him play," Anthony grinned, excited to play the sport with him as well. He knew that if Patrick were still alive he'd be well chuffed. It was bittersweet.
Anthony nodded before Ela could even finish the question she was asking. He agreed without hesitation. "Yeah, I'd like that. If it isn't a bother, of course. I'd love to see Oliver," Anthony murmured, hoping that he wouldn't be intruding. "Ros and Bea can wait. I'll surprise them tomorrow."

"If I didn't like the surprise, I would not have been standing here while hugging you," Ela pointed out to the tall man in front of her. This was the best surprise she had gotten in quite some time. Yes, he still reminded her about Patrick so much, but he had become such a great friend since losing her husband... She had missed his presence more than she had expected she would.
Ela looked up at him in surprise when he told her that he hadn't seen his sisters yet. "You came to me before you're family?" Her voice gave away her surprise but also that she was touched by it. She had not expected that. She quickly tried to shake that as he asked about Oliver. "Of course he has been practising his Quidditch. He is flying through the living room on that toy broom Patrick got him and the miniature Quidditch set you gave me... Well, it is set up in the garden and I keep having to throw the Quaffle at him while he protects the hoops. It looks like he has a preference for the Keeper position. He will be happy that you're back since he knows you love Quidditch a lot too." No, the presents had been quite the best. With maybe the exception of the little miniature living dragon that had been send in a small wooden box. Oliver had loved it, Ela a little less after one of her plants had not survived it due to a fiery accident from the little dragon.
A wave of relief washed over Ela when Ant let her know the situation. He was going to be around. He was not leaving again soon and it made her smile. "That is really good to hear. Are you up for dinner tonight at my place? I'll cook something for all three of us. That is if you are sure you don't want to visit your sisters first?"
Anthony couldn't describe how good it felt to see Ela in person. She could reassure him a million times over paper that she was okay but he could never believe her. He needed to see her face to face to know. Seeing her now, he was only reminded of how much he had missed her. Anthony loved his job. He loved taking care of and studying dragons. But she was more important to him now. Her and Oliver's well-being was his new purpose.
"What? You don't like the surprise?" He teased, pretending to wince when she swatted at him. His expression fell slightly when she mentioned his sisters. They were going to kill him for not telling them that he was back. "Don't say anything if you see them. I hadn't told them either. They'll be my first stop tomorrow." At the mention of Oliver, his grin widened. Anthony was torn up about the fact that he hadn't been around to watch him grow. He only had the various pictures. "I can't wait to see him. I brought him a gift. Has he been practicing his quidditch?"
He met her gaze when she asked the question he knew was coming. With his job, Anthony was constantly traveling. "I'm staying around for good this time. Well, as much as I can. I'll be working at the reserve in Wales when I go back but they'll let me come home at night at least."

It were simple words but they were very reassuring. He was right there. He was standing in front of her once more and she could actually embrace him. Talk to him face to face instead of over paper. Ela took in a deep breath before slowly letting go of him, being able to look him in the eyes, the smile still plastered on her face.
"This definitely is a surprise, Ant," she said to him, softly swatting him against his chest as an answer as well. Her dark eyes scanned over him to see if another scar was added to the pile he already had or if he was still the same as before. The latter seemed to be the matter. "Your sisters are going to love seeing you again. Oh, and so will Oliver. He has been missing you. And he has grown quite a bit." Ela fell quiet for a moment, as she suddenly thought of something.
"For how long will you be home?"
There had been a time in his life when traveling was all that Anthony wanted to do. He wanted to see the world and all the things that it could offer him. Wanted to see and care for all of the different species of dragons. For a long time, it had been fulfilling. It had been everything he could ask for and more. But now? During this trip to Romania, he couldn't help but feel like something was missing. Hell, he had even argued when he got the assignment. He didn't want to leave Ela or Oliver, but he didn't have a choice.
The assignment had been a couple of months, but now - he was back. Anthony was back and he didn't plan on leaving again anytime soon.
He knew that he should have told someone he was back. His sisters would have a right go at him. He didn't care. His first stop was Flourish and Blotts. They'd written to each other while he was away but it wasn't the same as seeing her in person and making sure that she was okay. He felt a sense of duty to Ela now with Patrick gone. Anthony needed to take care of Ela and Oliver. He stood in the window, watching for a brief second before he walked inside the shop.
"You're kicking me out?" He asked, his voice low and teasing as he waited for her to realize who he was. It wasn't long before she launched herself at him and Anthony caught her in a hug.
He wrapped his arms around her, bending over slightly to meet her height. "I'm here," he murmured into her hair, finally feeling at ease for the first time in months. "Sorry I didn't tell you, I wanted it to be a surprise. Surprise?"
