“Is that what you think is going on?”

“I have no doubt his majesty will be an exemplary father to his children when the time comes, but I would not presume to have him fill such a roll for mine. I will never marry again, and even if I had any interest in doing so, a widowed mother from the petty nobility has no place beside a king.”

When my muse sees Jocasta, he is instantly drawn to her, although careful- he does feel a sense of freedom with her that he seldom feels elsewhere. He is surprised at how much they have in common when they do talk, and he enjoys her sense of humor and banter. He feels like protecting her from the cruelty of society that he denies that he feels himself too.
