Have they worked with or are currently working with Garlond Ironworks? Or Skysteel Manufactory? (whichever OC -- all of them, even!)

A'idan works for the Ironworks—when he's not busy adventuring with Inge, Aïcha and Kazan. Mainly he works on projects that has to do with exploring the sea and he did help with the gundam G-Warrior.

I said in the tags that he's a carpenter and it's true since that's basically how he started: building ships at the Moraby Drydocks, but he's since learned a lot and is more an engineer than anything by now.

New!Kazan was approached to work for them too but refused. He was usually in charge of fixing the team's equipment though, at least when it needed metalwork, but neither of them is a machinist so he never got to work closely with the Skysteel Manufactory. However, he works as a freelancer for Kokajiya in Kugane—when he's not just accepting private commissions or traveling.

What do they do to pass time during long journeys? (caravans, chocobo rides, etc.), for Kazan!

If he's working, which from his point of view is always, then he'll spend the entire journey on guard in case any threat arises. In which he's quiet and focused and doesn't do much outwardly.

Now whether you can differentiate that from him simply being himself is another matter entirely, because Kazan barely speaks at all and is hyper-vigilant.

If he's forced to be a passenger, aside from still being somewhat vigilant, he'll try to make good use of his (imposed) free time and mend his clothes, clean his weapons, pay attention to the road and the surroundings in case he needs to walk through the place and find his way on his own or simply play with his knife. And if truly he's got nothing to do with his hands, he'll simply listen to the discussions around him.

Anything, really, that keeps him from thinking too hard on how he ended up living like this. He's not above provoking people a bit if it means they get to talk and distract him—unless he's working, in which case he's no fun and all business.
