The Ancestors.
Tumblr media
After God and before all other Spirits in the African Diasporic Traditions first comes the Ancestors.
In this post I'm speaking on the different ways people honor the ansestors.
The ancestors Is the foundation of who we are, and where we come from. At one time were where we are now. They're much closer to us then other spirits, they help us and guide us. They also long for us to succeed, because if we succeed it reflects on them. Through regular prayer to them, they too are elevated, they move further towards to the light and come closer to the full understanding of their place in Heaven. Through their elevation, we can be elevated too, and reach further towards our own potential and goals.
One of the first things that to be taught to do within the Traditional African Religions, or any other, is to build a strong relationship with our ancestors. Once this relationship is built, we can ask them for assistance in almost every aspect of our lives, and they will be there to help. For example, if I want to obtain more money, then I could turn to an ancestor who was very successful financially in life. I can call on that energy to assist me.
But there is a difference between honoring and working with them (see my post on building ansestors altar)
The first step in building this relationship is to show respect and honour to our ancestors. You can care for the graves, visit then talk to them regularly. If your ancestor graves are too far away then tend to the graves of the deceased in general. The grave yard isn't scary go and talk to someone fix a pot that's on its side pick up the trash or dead flowers. Etc.
You know throughout South America on November 2nd, also known as All Souls Day is recognised as a day to honour our ancestors. Get Gede in Vodou. On those day, the cemeteries become crowded, with people singing and dancing, celebrating with their ancestors. They clean the graves and decorate them with offerings of foods and sweets, drinks of all the types that the ancestors enjoyed in life, and of course flowers and libations of water are placed and poured.
Serving Your Ancestors. Interested in practicing the Afro-Caribbean religions of the Diaspora, the very first thing that you will want to start with is to serve your ancestors. Every morning when you awaken, go out a glass of water on your altar. Light a small white candle [a 4 inch white tea light candle] and I gently sprinkle some water before the cross and pray a simple prayer. You can use any prayer that you like.
That’s it. It takes about 2 minutes in total, and gives my ancestors refreshment (the water), light (the flame) and energy (the heat from the burning wax). It strengthens them, helps them to grow stronger and elevates them further towards God. ( Now I don't know that for sure but I think they injoy it.)
In most Spiritual traditions, the ancestors are fed somewhere away from the normal household routine. Your welcome to do it where ever.
Offering: After the glass of cool fresh water on the ground, light a white candle, you can offer them the food and any drinks they might like, anything at all. The food is left overnight, and then thrown in the rubbish. Bottles of alcohol are placed on the ancestor table for the Spirits to continue to enjoy. (Now not every one can go to a cemetery I can't it's gates are closed unless I call for permission if that's the cast use your altar it's fine they won't hate you😁)
Ancestor Altar. An Ancestral Altar, is a very personal space. (Not to do magic on) This is a space where you will commune with your ancestors, and you want this place to be welcoming to your ancestral spirits. With such a personal space, there are only a couple of fundamental rules.
Everything about this table should reflect your family, your ancestors, their likes and life. As you get to know your ancestors better, you begin to hear them, you will begin to hear what your ancestors would like. You may choose to set up an ancestral table anywhere, but remember that this is a place where you will quietly interact with your ancestors.
Tumblr media
Not my image but I wanted to share this.
HOLY MASS SAID FOR THE DEPARTED. Traditionally the Catholic Church spends the Month of November offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the Faithful Departed. Different Churches will do this differently. In many Catholic Churches, on the first of November they will put out sheets of paper with a pen. This sheet of paper has lines on it, and here you can write the names of all those in your family that have passed on. (Petition paper) For each and every Mass that is said the Priest will collect the papers, and roll them in a purple scroll and place them on the altar.
21 DAY ROSARY ELEVATION FOR THE Ancestors. Beginning on November 1st and finishing on November 21st, some Vodouist who are also Catholic like to offer a Rosary each day for their ancestors at the ancestor table.
After the recitation of the Rosary, you may wish to read to the ancestors from the Bible or simple commune. Allow the taper candle to burn all the way down. Recite the Rosary for the last time for the Novena. Let your ancestors know that you are happy to have spent the last 21 days in prayer with them. Leave them offerings overnight, then dispose of them.
When it's all said and done there are many ways to acknowledge your ansestors hope you enjoyed this post.

Bone of my bone. Blood of my blood.
The art on these 7 day candles was created to help connect and honor ancestors known and unknown.
How can we be at peace with ourselves if we refuse to be at peace with who and where we come from? Acknowledging the past can help to understand the present. This candle, when used in ritual or meditation can help to bring peace, clarity, and understanding from across the veil.

It’s International Women’s Day, and I like to think being a woman isn’t always about being a strong independent attractive matriarchal figure, you can also feel female in the really dumb moments too.

/ Me, thinking about all the illnesses and diseases and ailments sailors and pirates were faced in Hook's day.
Tumblr media
Smallpox, typhus, typhoid, tuberculosis, scurvy, gangrene, influenza, malaria, pneumonia, yellow fever.
Not to mention things like, open fractures, breakages, over-exposure to water too long making the skin start to break down, dry-drowning.
Thinking of all this, it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for Hook not to have at least caught ONE illness whilst serving out at sea. He has certainly SEEN all of these illnesses at some point in time, whether from a distance or up close with his own crew or shipmates.
The most likely illnesses he could get on that top list would be scurvy, smallpox and pneumonia. He's probably had plenty of fevers in his time, all from cold air, seawater, ill sanitation etc. He has probably dealt with scurvy many a time which is why he savours the more fruity and sweet flavoured things to aid in its recovery. Smallpox would have been a massive outbreak on whatever ship he sailed on, however, this would leave a lot of scars, especially on their face, which makes me skip this illness for this reason.
I WOULD think that Hook has a repetitive illness, I was debating on TB being a lingering symptom in his body. You can't truly get rid of it unless your have modern technology/antibiotics to deal with it and thanks to Neverland and the island having effects on people bodies and health (aka, you can't really die on Neverland's shores) Hook's illness never really took off. But on the mainland it would reactivate and he'd get VERY ill.
I once again would like to say though.
Holy shit the stuff this man has been through.

How To Build A Ansestor Altar+ Ritual Setup.
As you know Hoodoo is a practice of ancestral veneration. The honoring of spirits and even working and praying to our ancestors is practiced around the world and in many cultures. Many African religions have the belief that your ancestors play a active role in your life.
The spirits of the dead are invited into our household so that they may provide us with blessings and protection. Maintaining a connection with our dead ancestors is a foreign to most Americans because Christianity permeates our culture. But Christianity teaches that death is the end then we move on, buts that not all to some good mediums says that after death life still goes on they talk, have get togethers even eat & drink their favorite foods. Not to survive like we need it for but to injoy.
For those who are seeking to practice traditional hoodoo, it can sometimes be difficult to talk about the fears of life and death. Hoodoo like many African traditions, that sees life and death as a journey for the soul. Where our lives in the world of the living world ends one day and it rises on the spiritual plane (Heaven) where our souls continue to live.
Without the assistance of our ancestors, Spirit guides and of course GOD, trying to perform workings is would be a waste time and energy. The spirits don't just power magical workings, they also guide our steps so that we can avoid negative situations and recover from our mistakes quickly. The real strength of a root doctor/ conjure man comes from the ability to provided help and to write a prescription that would best fit the needs of a client or ourselves with the help of our ancestors through and a altar.
Now you don't half to have your full altar decacated to just the ansestors it can be to our guides (there important) a Saint, God all of these things can be added to your altar space.
"Creating an ancestor altar or even a altar period don't always seem worth it to newcomers, and usually skipped over for the magic part of it".
Tumblr media
Creating An Ancestor Altar:
Before You Begin let me share how to properly do this traditionally. When creating a altar it's not only about just any of your ansestors, you must find ansestors that either have pratice hoodoo or know about it, that person with your guides will guide you the right way. Now this doesn't mean you can't put a deceased sibling, parents or grandparents you can but the ones that will help the most in your practice is the ansestor that knows it the most. My advice to you is do what I mentioned above and a reading to know which spirits want to be on your altar. (See post on spiritual court) it can talk a while so be patient.
Find a place in your home where there's not many people that will see your altar or walk by. You can also use your closet. Now i know most people would say that you shouldn't put your altar in the bedroom the reason for this is the spirits, when you get good at this practice and you made a connection with your guides, ansestors, God that space will have spirit traffic and it can get annoying if your a medium and it could affect your dreams and sleeping pattern and that can happen but that basically new age hoodoo or spiritualism not traditional but you can choose your room if you want to.
2. When you’ve decided on the right space, which can be a higher table or a low table to kneel to pray. Next you can clean your surface with Holy Water, Florida Water, or Incense like palo santo after say a prayer over the table expressing a desire for it to act as a holy space.
3. Find a cloth for your altar. Most commonly white cloth is used which ever you like would do.
4. The first thing on your ancestor altar should be the Bible. If you want The Bible can be placed in the center of your altar. The Bible is a powerful book of prayers. (Also, it is likely that your ancestors were Christian and they will respond to verses that were familiar with them)
5. Place a white candle above your Bible. The candle acts as a beacon drawing spirits closer to us. (It's great for guides and God)
6. Add a wine glass full of water (any cup would do) next to the candle. We place the glass of water on our altars to make a stronger connection with the spirits. Keep water on your altar and change it weekly. Water is divine and aids in your ancestors’ communication with you.
7. Place a picture of your ancestors to the left and right of your Bible, candle and glass of water. Their pictures help to strengthen your connection. )Don’t worry if you don’t have pictures of them) other things that can be added to your altar to strengthen the connection.
If you have other religious items like statues, cards or personal thing you want to add do it
This set up is the essentials needed to make an ancestor altar. If you can’t afford anything extra or if you don’t have much space to work with them start with this basic setup. You can always add more to your altar as I mentioned above.
If you have other religious items like statues, cards or personal thing you want to add do it either from you or passed down.
Offerings: When it comes to offerings you want to add things that they would like. The common offerings to your altar would be water.
Other offerings that some spirits would like us coffee, rum, and food. You can use small glasses and plates to place your offerings on.
Add Items: That are significant to your spiritual practice on your altar, like some type of divination tools. These tools will come in handy in clarifying the message that might come through your altar.
Finally: Place an image of a spirit known for protection on your altar. It’s always best to have a working relationship with the spirit you chose to place on the altar, but if your beginning you might not have a working relationship with a spirit of protection so use this time to begin communicating with that spirit as well. I suggest Saint Michael or the Virgin Mary. This spirit will act as a guardian between you and any random spirits that may be attracted to your altar, your spirit guides are important to build a relationship with as the guide you through like and can help you to connect to others. God is the big on you want to build a relationship with so pray or just talk to him this will help because he's the one who does everything for is. Also place an extra candle and glass of water next to the image of your protector and guide, and even God to show your appreciation.
Other Common Items: You can choose to add things like dirt from a families grave, incense & burner are very important, candle snuffer, a bell or rattle or important, flowers, and Holy Water, Florida Water. (See my post on insense and rattles & bells)
How you arrange the items on your altar is a matter of personal preference. The water, coffee and rum should be cleaned and refreshed at least once a week. Any food offerings should be left on the altar until it has lost all life and becomes stale. Your candles should be replaced as soon as they go out.
Working Ritual at your Ancestor Altar: Now that your ancestor altar is completely set up, it’s time to begin welcoming the spirits into your home. Begin by inviting your ancestors to “sit” at your altar. This can be achieve this with a three-day long ritual that is intended to prepare the space.
This ritual is truly traditional, now you don't have to do this step but it can help to make a strong connection.
Day 1- At your altar, try to imagine the faces of those who have passed. Take as much time as you need to really make a connection. After your prayers, visit their grave site if you can.
Day 2- Prepare meals that they would like.
Day 3- Bring them a gifts as an offering. Light your altar candles and sit in quiet meditation and prayer.
After you have invited them to your altar make sure to spend time with them. Pay attention to your dreams and to your intuition during this process. Your ancestor will eventually respond to your prayers so pay attention.

how about a male kitsune x fem reader. Maybe they are childhood friends and he loves to tease her a lot and acts really cocky all the time but scares away any potencial rival. Unknown to them both their parents who are good family friends ,have been trying to set them up together partly due to the fact of some very old promise their ansestors made or something but won’t force it and see it as if it happens it happens. But male kitsune has a secret, his true form and accidentally shows the reader this while confessing but she reassures she doesn’t care how he looks (if anything she finds him quite handsome like this) and she likes him too. His secret form I guess could go two ways I’m not sure which sounds better 1: she never knew he was a kitsune, and them being childhood friends was really just her playing around with a baby fox that she thought belonged to his family. Or 2: she knew he was a kitsune all along but he has a 3rd form he never showed her this one looking more like a bipedal humanoid fox a form of which not even his family has thus being self conscious of. Thank you so much your writing is really cool!

A/N: Hi! This request was very fun to write, hope any of you mind that I mixed both, made sense in my head. Also, as a great mind said “daddy is a state of mind”, I imagine this story as them being very close in age, like max three years apart. Enjoy!
The nine tails
Kitsune x fem!reader || daddy kink, arranged marriage, mates,
When you thought back to your childhood, you always had blurry memories of an animal. A fox. A white fox that followed you around and played with you when you went out into the garden. Your parents thought you were talking about a plushie or something, but you knew better, there was an actual fox that approached you as soon as you stepped outside. But when you were about twelve, he disappeared.
It hurt you so bad and so profound that you cried for days. You cried and cried and your parents didn’t know what was wrong. Your neighbor came around, a nice lady that you’ve known all your life, the mother of your crush… She said it was a pain of heart, and also disappeared. It was ominous and weird, and it woke you off a stupor that you didn’t know you were into.
You woke up and kept living. Even when your friend, your crush, left, you kept going.
And kept going.
When past your twenties, your parents announced that you were to marry an unknown person, or not so unknown. When you walk to the altar and see your long forgotten childhood friend… you are lost of words. You are so confused you dissociate through all ceremony. Before you realize you were married and living with a man you thought forgot about you.
You are calling him husband and he’s calling you wife, and your life is boring. You came back to your house one day, a bit earlier than anticipated because you signed a big contract and you want to go out for dinner with your husband, even if you barely talk. But what awaits for you there is not what you expected.
There’s a white fox in your living room. A white fox that turns into a human, a very naked human in the form of your husband. You gape at him, speechless.
You turn around to leave when he stops you. “Wait! Hear me out, I…”
But then it clicks. “You are the fox,” you deadpan.
“What?” He’s as surprised as you.
“The fox from my memories. It’s you.” Everything starts making sense, why they left, what his mother said when you were a kid.
“I- I thought you didn’t remember that,” he whispers, more to himself than to you.
“Of course I do, it broke my heart when you disappeared. I was so sad my parents bought me a puppy.” He doesn’t answer, staring at you like you grew a new head. You look into his sad eyes and can’t hold back anymore: “Why did you leave me?” Your question is filled with sadness and disappointment, the wound that you thought forgotten is once again open and bleeding. You thought you could get over the fox leaving, probably something to do with nature, but knowing it was him… That it was him who abandoned you…
“I’m sorry. I- They told me I had to. I couldn’t keep visiting you because I could throw everything into the wind if my fox got too attracted to you. So I pulled away, but it pained me, it pained me so much I could barely transform for so long after I stopped seeing you. And then we moved away and I… I couldn’t stop thinking about you.” His voice is broken as he explains, his words rushed as if he’s trying to convince you as much as he tries to convince himself.
And you get a new realization at that. “That’s why you came back? That’s why you married me? Not because they signed some papers when we were not even born?” You ask for confirmation.
“Of course not! I love you. Always have. Always will,” he tells you, eyes filled with tears and emotions showing in every twitch of his body. You stare at him, so moved by his words that you just stare. You stare for so long that he starts to squirm and moves to walk away, accepting your silence as a rejection.
But this time is you who stop him: “Then make love to me until I can’t walk anymore. Breed me until I can’t think of anything else. Fuck me until the sad memories disappear and I can only think of you inside of me,” you pronounce the filthy words as if your life depends on it. As if his body and his soul are what you crave more than air.
He chuckles, swallowing back his tears as he tells you: “You can’t say that and look at me directly, or this would end sooner than expected.” You look down at the same time as he does, seeing his dick twitching and growing hard in front of your eyes.
“Does me saying dirty things arouse you, daddy?” His groan is so loud and desperate that you have to bite back your own moan.
You throw your clothes off your body like a soul followed by death and stare at him, naked in all your glory, as his eyes flash in different colors and his ears morph into fox-like ones. And then you see his half form, his tails behind him, all nine of them swinging as he approaches you slowly, making you grin at him until you are chest to chest. He grabs you by the waist, holding you thigh as he lowers his head and kisses you in the most dominating way ever. Your knees give out under you, but he grabs your ass and pushes you up, inviting you to wrap them around his middle.
He gropes your ass as he grinds his dick up to your wet center. You keep whispering “daddy daddy daddy” as he rocks your body against his. He’s as desperate as you are, your kisses consuming, trying to get your love across his lips. Trying to show him all the longing and pain that he caused you, as he tries to kiss it away. It’s intoxicating and deep, so emotional and intense that you are breathless.
When he finally pushes his dick inside your dripping cunt, you shiver with the force of the sensation. He pushes your body against the wall, plastering himself against your front as he leaves your mouth to kiss your neck, leaving marks as he goes.
He fucks you against the wall, desperate, uncoordinated… and perfect. “Yes. Yes. Yes,” you chant over and over, his dick hitting that special place inside of your pussy that makes you see stars.
You start to shake in his arms. “Are you going to come for daddy? Are you going to make a mess out of your pretty pussy for me?” You nod eagerly, biting his neck and making him cry out as the first shoot of cum hit you deep inside, hot as lava.
You groan as your own orgasm rocks your body, convulsing against his arms as his tails caress your legs like the softest touch. It drives you to a new level, head thrown back, mouth open in a silent scream as he fucks you through your aftershocks. He breathes hard against your neck, biting softly with his long fangs.
“You are so good, such a good girl for daddy,” he keeps whispering soft things against your ear as you come down, breathing hard and blushing harder than ever. He kisses your sweaty forehead as he walks you to the bathroom, not letting you go as he runs you a bath.
