A small update!! I know I've been slow on updates and stories as of late but rn it's going to take a big dip for awhile. on Sunday (so yesterday my time) we had a ef1 tornado come down our street. I need some time to recover emotionally since it was literally my worst nightmare come to life. lmao always fun living out a nightmare irl. ANYWAY, please understand that this lack of activity is for me to be able to process everything and try to get back to normal.

I am perfectly fine and so is my family and animals. we sustained no damage to our house, the only damage was the duck fence when the old almond tree fell on it. all animals are alive and accounted for. which i am so very grateful for as the ducks and chickens were in the yard at the time. there were no casualties that happened at all in this incident but some houses were badly damaged. my family is grateful we were very lucky and sustained very minimal damage.

I hope to be able to write again soon. for now do not expect any updates until one randomly appears 😂. I'm not sure how long that'll be but I'm hoping not too long as over the years I grew to be unscared of my tornado nightmares has actually helped me cope with this event. currently i get spooked by the sometimes loud wind outside or planes passing over so it'll take some time.

im hoping that if its a wet winter and we get storms that will also help me cope and get used to the noises again. it is very rare that we get tornados in this state and especially this area. this is the first time ever in all my 24 years of living here. with that being said, i love you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving 💕 stay safe 🩵

Can’t Think of a Happier Moment

Arthur Shelby x Reader

Warnings: pregnancy

Word Count: 728

Summary: Arthur finally manages to clearly communicate his emotions in the moment where it’s needed most.

Arthur was able to see it in her eyes the second she came to a stop in front of him. She’d asked him to be home when she got back and he made sure of it, not caring if it meant leaving the Garrison before Tommy even got there. His brother would understand. His wife came first.

“Alright, what is it?” he asked, wanting to get right into what she wanted to tell him.

“What is what?” she responded with her own question.

“Why’d ya call me home? Got something to tell me?” he raised his eyebrows.

“Bold of you to assume such a thing, Arthur Shelby,” she couldn’t help but giggle, “maybe I just wanted to spend some time with you.”

Arthur’s eyebrows furrowed in an instant. That surely couldn’t have been the only reason she pulled him away from the Garrison, from business, right? “I love ya, darlin’, and I love spending time with you, but couldn’t that have waited until after I finished what I was doin’ at the Garrison?” he came out and asked, not yet sure if doing so would equate to stepping on a bear trap.

And (Y/N) could have made it into one. But she didn’t. She was too excited at the moment and actually did have some news to share with him. “I was over at Pol’s when I called…” she began. Arthur nodded, showing her that he was listening and that she could continue. “She’d just told me something, and I could have shared it on the phone, but I decided that telling you in person would be better.”

“And what is that?” he asked after a few moments had passed and she hadn’t shared anything else.

“You know that Polly’s got a gift, right?” she started off with another question.

“She’s got many,” he agreed.

“Well she told me something…” At this point, (Y/N) herself wasn’t sure why she was continuing to beat around the bush on this. He was clearly invested in the conversation. Hell, he’d skipped out on his brother because she told him that she had something to tell him. Hanging onto the secret just built up the excitement inside of her even more. She hoped he’d feel the same.

“What’d she tell you, love?”

“She told me that…that you and I…” she paused, taking a deep breath as her smile grew, “we’re gonna have a baby, Arthur.”

At first Arthur just blinked. It took a few moments for the information to settle in; for it to actually click in his mind. And when it did, a tidal wave of words came tumbling out of his mouth. “She said that…she, she thought that, no, she knew that you were…that we’re going to…holy shit, you’re, you’re pregnant, (Y/N).”

“I am,” she nodded, speaking in a soft voice.

“Holy fucking shit,” he breathed, talking to himself more than anything. There was a whole flurry of different emotions coursing through him at the moment. His eyes dropped to the floor for a moment, taking a pause to collect himself before looking up again. His eyes immediately found hers, and he couldn’t help but let a smile form on his face. He tipped his head slightly, his heart hammering in his chest. “Pregnant,” he breathed again.

“Yes,” (Y/N) response came in a similar tone, tears welling up in her eyes. “Are you happy right now?” she just had to ask him, wanting to know if he was feeling the same excitement that she was.

“I can’t think of a happier moment in my life, love,” he wasted no time in telling her, his smile growing. (Y/N) noticed that his eyes were practically twinkling. He held her gaze for a moment before his eyes dropped to her stomach. No bump was present, but he knew that his child was there. “Can I?” he asked her then, his hands inching closer to her frame.

“Yes, Arthur,” she couldn’t help but softly laugh at his hesitance. Her heart swelled with love as he let out a soft chuckle and placed his hands against her stomach, gently caressing it.

“Our baby…” he trailed off, looking back up at her again.

“Our baby,” she affirmed, lifting one of her hands to rest against his neck before she leaned in and pressed her lips to his.

“Am I the only one who sees what’s going on here?” Polly announced, her voice cutting through the rest of the conversations that were happening, “I mean, hello?!” Some of the eyes that were now focused on her then followed her hand as it gestured towards the two people she was talking about.

Everyone was now focused on Arthur and (Y/N), who’d swear up and down that they hated each others guts if you’d ask them. But no one was asking at the moment, and between all the laughing and subtle touches going back at forth between them it didn’t quite look like they hated each other.

In fact, a passerby would probably think the exact opposite.

“They’re probably ready to rip each others hair out,” Ada commented, sounding half-interested.

“I’m surprised they’ve been sitting together that long,” John chimed in with his own comment.

The topic was shoved aside then, the others going back to what they’d been conversing about previously. Polly kept her eyes on the two.

“You’ll find out out soon enough when they come tellin’ you they’re together,” she said to herself as she brought a glass up to her lips, “Aunt Pol always knows best when it comes to these things.”

And since this is my story Reader and Alfie still have Cyril. special shout out to @runnning-outof-time for helping me sort a few things out for this chapter. please go read her her she's amazing!

Rage, fear, pain. All those things you felt as you look at your husband. Lying in bed, nearly dead from a gunshot to the head. You’ve barely slept as you’ve tended to him. Alfie hasn’t woken up yet, it’s given you plenty of time to figure out what to say when he does. God, he thought the best way out was by having him killed. How selfish could he be? The deal was in sickness and in health. Did Alfie really think you’d turn away from him because of his skin cancer? Using the betrayal to Thomas as a way to get a quick death. Or maybe you were being selfish excepting him to fight through it. 

Damn Thomas Shelby for doing as he asked. He could have just walked away, he should have. You knew he was a man of his word though. It was something you admired about him. Even now. Sighing, you stood from your seat and lightly placed your hand on Alfie’s cheek as you leaned over him and placed a kiss on his head. Scratching Cyril’s head as he lay next to Alfie, you left the room. You had a destination in mind, you needed to talk to Thomas.  

A wave of nostalgia hit you as you walked through the door of the Garrison. You haven’t been here since that night. Could never bring yourself to come in because he owned it. Thomas would always be there and you never wanted to see him again. Now you wanted to shoot him in the head yourself. But since he’s been working with Alfie you’ve felt yourself slightly soften on him. Slightly. 

“I never thought I’d see the day when you walked through those doors again.” 

Turning your head to the familiar voice, a smile came to your face. One of apology and greeting. Polly gave you a smile, as she always did, as she walked up to you.  

“Neither did I, but I have to speak with,” You hesitated almost calling him a more familiar name, “Thomas.” 

“He’s home right now. But I have something for you.” Polly said 

Curiosity took over as you watched her walk away to the back office. What could she possibly want to give to you? Moments later Polly came back holding a letter. Now you were really curious. The smile she gave you held something you couldn’t really tell. She handed it over and you saw your name scribbled on top of it with his writing. There was a hesitation in taking it. You never fully forgave Thomas, so you weren’t sure if you wanted to take the letter, she was giving you. Sighing, after a moment you took it from her and stared at the paper in your hand.  

“Tommy always talked about giving it to you. Just never got the balls to do it. You need to talk with him.” 

“About more than one thing it seems.” You muttered 

You opened the letter and read over it. A feeling came over you, one you couldn’t place. It was obvious he wrote it after the fight years ago. You were tired, you missed him. Over the years you grew over your anger. The only one that stood right now is he shot your husband. Folding up the letter, you said goodbye to Polly and left the Garrison. The drive to Arrow house wasn’t bad as your mind was too preoccupied with what you were going to say. You wanted to keep a level head as much as possible. The car stopped and you stepped out. Not bothering to wait for your door to be opened. Walking up to the door you knocked and patiently waited for an answer. Not long after the door was opened, and you came face to face with a woman. From her outfit she is a maid in the house. You gave her a smile and fought the urge to just turn around and drive back home. Having some regret in coming to talk. 

“May I help you ma'am?” She politely asked  

“Yes, I’m here to talk to Mr. Shelby.”  

“I’m sorry he’s not taking people at the moment.” 

You held back a sigh as you looked at the woman. You knew she was just doing her job, but this was slightly getting on your already worked up nerves. Discreetly you let out a sigh and gave her a nod. Maybe you should just turn around and go home. This could be a sign to just say fuck it and never come back again. Then you saw the image of Alfie lying there in bed and couldn’t bring yourself to leave. You had to talk to Tommy, it was years overdue. 

“Tell him Mrs. Solomons needs to speak with him, please.”  

The maid paused at the door, and you could tell she was just as annoyed as you were. It was obvious most people just walked away hearing that. Only you weren’t leaving and if he said no, you were going to storm into his office yourself. Going home without a talk wasn’t an option. After a moment she opened the door wider and directed you to step inside. 

“Please wait here as I talk to Mr. Shelby.” She informed you  

“Thank you,” you replied as she walked away. 

It was a nice home; you were glad Thomas was finally getting the life he deserved. Well, some of it at least. You’d be lying if you said you never imagined this being your home with Thomas by your side. It seemed the future had very different plans for you. You saw the picture of Grace and still couldn’t help the pit of hatred you felt for her. Had she never gotten into his life, you’d still be in it. But she sabotaged your relationship with him. For that you’ll never forgive Grace. What you could feel happiness for, was the joy and happiness she brought to Thomas in the time they were together. For that you will be forever grateful to her. Heels clicking against the floor brought your attention to the maid coming back over to you. Seemingly annoyed but doing a good job masking it. Only you could see right through it.  

“Mr. Shelby will see you in his office. If you’ll follow me, please.” She spoke 

“No need, I can get there myself. Thank you.”  

You walked past her and walked over to his office door. There was no turning back now. Taking a deep breath, you entered the room. This wasn’t the first time you’ve been here. No, you’ve been a few times when Alfie had to deal with business and wanted you by his side. This was the first time you’re here alone. Thomas sat at his desk, but his attention turned to the door as you came in. Both of you stared at the other in silence before you fully stepped into the room and closed the door behind you. 

“Tommy, we need to talk.”

hello! I am not dead and doing alright. I've come around to say I was going up start getting out updates but all my fixs gave been erased. it wasn't just that i lost a lot of things including the book I was writing. I did get that back with most other things but it completely took away my peaky blinders fics. I will not rewrite them and I'll start new but it's been a very upsetting morning. so whatever I had in progress will not be posted. I will rewrite requests so don't worry about that.

so I haven't been updating much because of being busy but now it will be longer folks and I apologize. my dad got covid and now everyone doesn't feel good. I've tested negative twice but I'm not holding my breath. but because I don't feel well I won't be writing much. It's nothing major just feeling a little icky but enough not to have energy to really write behind my other responsibilities. i hope to get better soon and post what I've been working on when I'm well!
