VOCALOID LEGENDS - 2015 Part 4
#225 - Campanella (sasakure.uk) [GUMI]
Achievement Date: 15-09-07, Upload Date: 09-10-28
It’s one of those songs from a major-P and it’s in this list, and people kind of forget about this song, which is sad, because this song is good, another song about a dead lover and how GUMI wants to reach him but of course, he’s dead. It’s good!
#226 - Night Sky Patrol of Tomorrow (Orangestar) [IA]
Achievement Date: 15-09-13, Upload Date: 14-08-19
There he is, Orangestar, the master of IA, and the song rightfully belongs in the Hall of Myths. IA finally shows her strengths as a voice wide as the sky. That falling girl and the reversal shot, having her rise up in the second half… I mean the ever hopeful lyrics, this is the hallmark of Orangestar and what he is known for. You know, a classic.
#227 - Blessing (halyosy) [MEIKO, KAITO, Miku, Rin, Len, Luka]
Achievement Date: 15-10-12, Upload Date: 14-04-11
Speaking of classics… I don’t like halyosy’s group songs as his individual ones, but Blessing still stands up. I think this is the group song that best captures the quirks of the Crypton VOCALOIDS, and just by that, it’s a masterpiece.
#228 - Totally Useless Song (Arawato, Kiyo, Retrot) [Yuzuki Yukari]
Achievement Date: 15-10-13, Upload Date: 15-03-12
As you have seen, this is the only 2015 song to reach this list in its year. I can’t believe the Yukari song about a radio show was the only one. This was how dire the VOCALOID scene was back in those days. Look, it’s not a bad song. It’s like if HoneyWorks wrote a Yukari song, and Yukari is definitely out of place, but the cynical nature actually kind of fits Yukari singing this song, compared to Miku.
#229 - EveR ∞ LastinG ∞ NighT (HitoshizukuP, Yama) [MEIKO, KAITO, Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, Gakupo, GUMI]
Achievement Date: 15-10-27, Upload Date: 14-09-11
The Grand Finale of the NighT series. The song sees the whole situation in a very different perspective, and the song sounds a bit more moody actually. Really interesting way to end the series. Why does J-POP always have a thing with cinema? I mean there aren’t that many songs about cinema in western sphere, aren’t there?

Hololive / Nijisanji Cover Digest for January
2nd - Outsider covered by Amane Kanata
The year started off strong with Kanata’s powerful rendition of Eve’s Outsider, one of his more rock-like compositions, which fits the power of Kanata’s angelic power.
2nd - Wozwald covered by Fuwa Minato
Fuwa took his second cover on a Niru Kajitsu masterpiece, Wozwald. Note that the video is soft-locked, but his charismatic singing is definitely good for all ages.
3rd - Paintër by Holostars 1-3
halyosy cover from Holostars is always a treat and this cover to bring the new year is no exception. Holostars in general has a nice balance of voices that really fills the picture.
16th - Will covered by Shishiro Botan
Botan took an obscure approach, covering a song from MeltyCat, an nascent producer of EDM-influenced music. An odd song to fit Botan’s light and airy singing style.
18th - Inferno by Yumeoi Kakeru
I think Kakeru is at his element at a good old rock Anime OP, and Inferno is the best you can hope for in that category.
27th - Goodbye Sengen by Morinaka Kazaki
One of the earlier covers of this song, and I think still one of more competent ones. I’m putting this as more of a marker of when the popularity of the song started.
29th - Lost One’s Weeping by Yuki Chihiro & Suzuya Aki
Chihiro & Aki takes on a Neru classic, and it’s a pleasant surprise like many of the entries. Another thing that surprises me is Chihiro’s low voice, which shouldn’t surprise me but…
29th - KING covered by Pavolia Reine
Early 2021 saw a slew of KING covers, all with their different take on the veritable classic, Reine decided to take one step farther by singing the RedShift remix, which trades the twangs of the guitar in the original with a nice synth bass, which balances the softer voice of Reine.
