In the princess Luz au who has been the hardest character for you to write? Is there a character you struggled with but only at first?

ooh, good question!

raine and camila's POVs were both challenging to develop, since i'd never written them before and since they both have slightly different baggage here than in the canon. TOH is a visual medium instead of a book, so there's a Lot of creative room when deciding what people's internal narration sounds like. it's very fun! but also hard to stay consistent and true-to-character.

by FAR the most technically-difficult POV to write is luz's, though. in some ways, writing her story is very easy: it's easy for me to get in her head, it's easy for me to grasp her stakes, it's easy for me to write horror in general. but her horror-development over the course of the 30k fic & her chapter in the camila fic.... those are hard. when i write, i know Exactly what she's feeling, i find it very easy to draft. translating those emotions and confusion and pain so that the Audience can feel it, too -- that takes Sooo much editing and care afterward. if you read her POV and can effortlessly imagine being in her shoes and it makes you nauseous and it pulls you in and it hurts like fuck..... please just know i spent Literal Hours fussing over every paragraph for maximum impact.
