i know i haven't posted any actual writing lately, and thank you all so much for being patient with me. I started a new job, and it's knocked me off my feet these last couple of months, which I fully expect it will continue to do, but I am still writing!! Just very slowly.
but as a lil thank you and as a way to get some feedback, maybe you'd be okay reading my prologue and first chapter rewrite of Another Buttercrush? It was too long and cumbersome to post on tumblr so I created a new fic on ao3 (link below). It's not a website I really like, but at this point, I don't think anyone's still on ffn and srsly, it's so long.
I debated doing this for a while now because I don't know when I'll be able to post another update and don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but these files have just been sitting there, weighing on my shoulders, and I really want feedback. If it's bad, I want to know, so I can try again.
and if i never get to this fic again lol at least I can give you this
I started Another Buttercrush in 2018! Five whole years ago, and I've made little to no progress on it because these last five years have been so life-altering. I graduated undergrad, I was very ill, I underwent so really intense surgeries, I started law school, I graduated law school, I passed the bar, my dog died :(, I got an adult job, and my anxiety has been one long continuous battle. I'm probably too old now to (poorly) be writing silly stories for a cartoon even older than myself, lol, but it and the friends I've made have been such a consistent comfort in my life that the idea of leaving hurts. <3 Thank you to all the friendly people and your continued patience. I would have never started writing without you.
Anyway, enough of being sappy; here's the chapter. Forewarning, when I was rewriting it, I cringed so hard at a majority of it (it's so very much a high school fanfic), but when I went to delete some of the scenes, my heart broke. Deleting the cringe is like deleting another buttercrush entirely, so I tried keeping it as close as possible to the original. It's still my shitty little story <3 I love her. I tried fixing characterization issues, a few plot holes, and added a few extra scenes :)
Hopefully, you all see this before you see the fic on ao3. I'm not posting it for the people active on that site. This is really just for my tumblr friends :) haha you're the ppl i talk to so you're the ones who get to see this sappy intro note.

[Ship Rant] Butchercup:
(Please bare with me I’m not good at explaining stuff 😭)
I ain’t going to lie to you when I say I am a big butchercup fan at the most during the ppg x rrb shipping community. I know most people hate it cause "Buttercup and Butch makes a toxic pair" but that’s because people sees them as the aggressive type rather than some type of lovey doves and that’s okay but there’s more about these two than the rest that other people don’t understand
I honestly feel like Buttercup will develop her feelings towards Butch like how she did with Ace on Buttercrush. I hate seeing the tsundere Buttercup stereotypes.
I honestly feel like Butch would claim that title to be honest with you, because honestly he seems like that type of guy who doesn’t know how to control his feelings towards someone he likes so it’s complicated for him to do so, (mostly because he was made to destroy the girls like his brothers so he would obviously not know how to) but he would try to. But Everytime he would try to succeed he would embarrass himself and try to hide it since it’s a new emotion for him.
My thoughts on them being paired together without any toxic traits makes sense to me. Everyone always treats this ship like it’s a toxic waste dump but for me I feel like they’re perfect for one another 💚

Powerpuff Girls episodes explained badly
Monkey See, Doggy Do: Everyone is a dog and/or naked.
Mommy Fearest: The girls try to turn some lady they just met into their step-mother and regret it immediately.
Insect Inside: Bugs are gross. Or are they?
Powerpuff Bluff: Cosplay for crime reasons. And to look cute.
Octi Evil: Bubbles trusts in her plush toy when it suddenly starts talking to her like one of those imaginary friends that tells you to burn things. It goes as well as you'd expect.
Geshundfight: There's too many people on this earth, we need a new plague.
Buttercrush: 1 1/2 year old develops crush on 17 year old who uses her crush to manipulate the shit out of her.
Fuzzy Logic: You don't touch another man's banjo. Ever.
Boogie Frights: An endless disco party ends in Bubbles turning off her targeting computer and blowing up the Death Disco Star
Abracadaver: Zombie magician comes to town and does zombie magician stuff.
Telephonies: Crank calls lead to the one moment in the entire cartoon my family constantly quotes, literally any time anyone says 'him' in any context. Also we learn how HIM stays so fit!
Tough Love: HIM farts on the entire city and it makes everyone hate the Powerpuff Girls.
Major Competition: Pretty much the exact kind of thing I'd expect Jeff Bennett to voice comes to town, kicks a puppy and gets praised.
Mr. Mojo's Rising: Mojo reveals he is both the Professor's former pet and the technical other parent of the Powerpuff Girls.
Paste Makes Waste: Be careful who you bully in kindergarten because they might eat a radioactive fly and become giant glue monsters.
Ice Sore: It's a hot summer's day and gee whiz, Blossom sure blows!
Bubblevicious: Bubbles is hardcore.
The Bare Facts: Your typical 'no-one's account is fully accurate as they piece together the story' story, but with crayon drawlings and a naked old dude.
Cat Man Do: Evil cat possesses the professor and does evil cat things.
Impeach Fuzz: Fuzzy becomes the perfect mayor. Crime is down 100%, the Powerpuff Girls now get called to catch pigs.
Just Another Manic Mojo: Mojo Jojo's morning routine ft. annoying children.
Mime For A Change: Clown steps into oncoming traffic, gets covered in bleach, causes an environmental disaster and ruins everything.
The Rowdyruff Boys: Rule 63 the episode.
Uh Oh Dynamo: Kaiju vs murder robot. The city loses.
Stuck Up, Up And Away: Spoiled brat tries to buy superpowers, like Batman.
Schoolhouse Rocked: Teenagers who were abandoned in a dump before ever going to school meet a truant officer who becomes the first person to ever care about them, then go to school and get expelled on the very first day.
Collect Her: This is you, you obsessed freaks.
Supper Villain: Man gets sick of pancakes for breakfast and lives out secret supervillain fantasies. (Second most quoted line of the show in my family is here.)
Birthday Bash: Happy birthday, here's some death. Also why the hell is a 5 year old girl in a prison where every single other inmate is a grown man?
Too Pooped To Puff: When completely exhausted from their constant hero work, the girls tell the city to put a toaster in a bathtub full of water.
Beat Your Greens: These kids are so reluctant to eat the only good green vegetable that vegetable aliens arrive to teach them to stop being pussies.
Down n' Dirty: Buttercup refuses to bathe and it's fucking disgusting.
Dream Scheme: In The Sand Man you play as Sophie Grundler, a girl suffering from insomnia. Exhausted and unable to sleep, Sophie wanders into town to discover everyone else has fallen into an eternal sleep. Wait, wrong sand man-
You Snooze You Lose: Mojo falls asleep, loses some schematics and goes completely batshit insane. Then the girls eat gum that was in Junior's mouth earlier. Then probably get sick from Amoeba Boys germs again.
Slave The Day: Billy, who we thought was dead, pledges allegiance to the girls and Blossom yells at him.
Los Dos Mojos: Bubbles is Mojo now. But twice as hardcore.
A Very Special Blossom: Blossom turns to a life of crime.
Daylight Savings: Actual consequences to these small children having to go out at all hours to fight crime.
Mo Job: Mojo and Princess build a gun and shoot children with it.
Pet Feud: The Professor genetically engineers a neopet that eats everything.
Imaginary Fiend: A child's imagination is a dangerous weapon. And may tell the child to set the school on fire.
Cootie Gras: A kid who never bathes decides to play kiss chase. When that grosses people out, he gets used as a dangerous weapon.
The Powerpuff Girls Best Rainy Day Adventure Ever: The Powerpuff Girls play The Powerpuff Girls.
Just Desserts: Man's supervillain fantasy is adopted by his entire family.
Twisted Sister: The girls create a new sister who is severely disabled and then promptly dies.
Cover Up: Security Blankie the episode
Speed Demon: Back To The Future but scarier.
Mojo Jonesin': Mojo deals crack to toddlers
Something's A Ms.: Sedusa has sex with the Mayor so she can steal shit.
Slumbering With The Enemy: Mojo goes on RuPaul's Drag Race and infiltrates a child's sleepover.
Fallen Arches: Old People Fight Club!
The Mane Event: Blossom gets a new haircut and gets bullied. I like her hair like that though.
Town And Out: The Utoniums move to a new town with real world consequences for senseless property damage.
Child Fearing: Mojo babysits and regrets every decision that led him to that moment in life.
Criss Cross Crisis: Mandatory body swap story from hell.
Bubblevision: Bubbles has sudden sight loss issues and gets ripped to shreds for it. Also there are ants.
Bought And Scold: Princess' dad buys the city and she legalises everything, then gets robbed.
Gettin' Twiggy With It: Neglected trailer park kid abuses a hamster.
Cop Out: American Police officer attempts to kill three children. Nobody is surprised.
Three Girls And A Monster: Well, they aren't adopting it, but they aren't murdering it either.
Monkey See, Doggy Two: Everyone's a dog again except the girls, so they can beat the shit out of things still.
Jewel Of The Aisle: Cereal mascot tries to rob diamond.
Super Zeroes: Cosplay 2 electric boogaloo. Also who the hell trusted Blossom with a car?

Catastrophe: Don't shove cats up your arse.
Hot Air Buffoon: The Mayor goes into the sky and punches people.

Equal Fights: The Powerpuff Girls get brainwashed by a TERF.
Powerprof.: Embarrassing dad becomes superhero just to spend time with embarrassed children.
Moral Decay: Buttercup steals teeth and sells them on the black market.
Meet The Beat Alls: Mojo, Fuzzy, Princess and HIM form a band and live in a yellow submarine.
Him Diddle Riddle: HIM canonically has the power to end the entire world with a flick of his wrist but instead spends his time making the girls solve riddles to inconvenience them for shits, giggles and not having customers Karen their way out of paying for flapjacks.
Film Flam: Fake director tries to take advantage of impressionable young girls and it takes their dad in drag to stop him.
All Chalked Up: Butterfly HIM teaches Bubbles art therapy and then brings the therapy to life.
Get Back Jojo: Back To The Future again

Burglar Alarmed: The girls try to silently deal with a burglar because daddy is tired.
Shotgun Wedding: Fuzzy tries to marry Professor Utonium, then has sex with a pile of mud.
Save Mojo: Vegans ruin everything.
Substitute Creature: Ms Keane is sick and the girls learn they're racist against green people.
The Boys Are Back In Town: Oh yeah rule 63 is back and spikier.
Pee Pee G's: Mojo breaks into the girls' house and pisses on their bed. He faces absolutely no consequences for this.
Boy Toys: Boys don't like girls, boys like cars and weapons.
Seed No Evil: Frozen caveman steals sunflower seeds. This one feels like a really shit fever dream.
City Of Clipsville: The show runners take the absolute piss out of every fanfic writer in the fandom.

City Of Nutsville: Bubbles swallows a bee and squirrels kill everyone.
Aspirations: Sedusa takes advantage of a group of teenagers who have been abandoned by their mothers and also never gotten laid while also turning them into criminal masterminds.
That's Not My Baby: The girls find an abandoned baby and decide caring for it will convince their dad they're ready for a hamster
Simian Says: Mojo takes over the show
Sun Scream: PSA: Wear sunscreen.

Roughing It Up: The Professor takes his kids on a camping trip and becomes rival dads with Fuzzy

I See A Funny Cartoon In Your Future: Gypsy and goose steal things along to a terrible rhyming narration.
Octi-Gone: Bubbles holds a fancy dinner party hostage to solve the mystery of the murder of her plushie, the one that told her to burn things.

What are your opinions on each Gangreen Gang episode (Buttercrush, Telephonies, Schoolhouse Rocked, Slave the Day, Power Lunch, Bang For Your Buck, Aspirations)?
Honestly, I enjoyed all of them! There's not a single bad Gangreen Gang episode. But to break it down further:
Buttercrush: Ah yes, the episode that basically created the Ace X Buttercup ship (and led to many childhood crushes on our favorite green gangster).
A good episode overall. It really shows off Ace's manipulative side, perceptiveness, and charisma. Yes there are Unfortunate Implications TM if you want to read into it, but I always just saw it as Ace seeing an opportunity to both get the PPG to stop beating up him and his friends, and seeing a chance to have a superhuman on his side. Though I could see a future where he and Buttercup could genuinely get along and become friends, when they're both adults and he's not actively committing crimes.
Telephonies: Peak "boys will be boys" behavior in a good way... or a funny way, at least. I mean, who else would be stupid enough to prank both Mojo Jojo and HIM but smart enough to actually make it work? I honestly can't think of another villain that could and would pull off those kinds of shenanigans (Also the scene with the Professor... someone please sit this man down and warn him about phone and internet scams. He's the type of guy who would receive an email from a "Nigerian prince" asking for money and believe it. Bless him)
Schoolhouse Rocked: Another hilarious episode that also raises some important questions. Like, before Jack Wednesday, did nobody notice that the Gang didn't go to school? Or, did they just not care? And why were a bunch of teenagers put in a kindergarten class? Was it because they genuinely never been to school before and Jack was making them start at the very beginning, or because Pokey Oaks Kindergarten is the only school in Townsville? And if that's true, then where do all the older kids go who are just regular citizens-
Okay, I'm getting off topic. But yes, it's ridiculous and fun and even a little sad when you read into everything. We get to hear some of Arturo's backstory, we get to see the gang be massive trolls and menaces to everyone around them, it's great.
Slave the Day: Rewatching this episode makes me feel a bit sorry for Big Billy. As funny as the "we thought you were dead" meme is, it's clear that Billy doesn't feel loved or cared about, even within the gang. And... he really isn't, aside from maybe Grubber. He comforted him at least. Like, he was so shocked that the girls did the bare minimum of being superheroes and saved his life that he was ready to leave all his friends behind for good and dedicate his life to serving them.
Though I will say I don't think Ace and the others ever genuinely believed Billy was dead. I don't think they're that careless. Imo it was more of a joke and they just assumed he got scared and ran off or the girls caught him and threw him in jail. But either way, it's clear they weren't that worried and if he ever did get separated from the gang he'd pretty much be on his own.
Also, the girls were definitely in the wrong for beating up Billy at the end of the episode for turning on them. He admitted what he did was wrong, he was sorry, and he changed his mind at the end anyway and saved them. Idk, that part never sat right with me and really shows that the girls have a very rigid view on their roles as crime fighters, seeing violence not simply as a method to defend themselves and others but as a just punishment in of itself. And to a point you can't really blame them; they're only five and encouraged to use violence by pretty much everyone around them, even when it's unnecessary. I hope they gain more of a nuanced perspective as they get older and realize that's not a good way to be a hero.
Power Lunch: I enjoyed seeing which powers each of the gang got! I know it's officially tied to whatever food they were eating when they got hit with the girls' laser vision, but if you want to analyze it as revealing a part of who they are I think you could.
You could say Ace gets ice powers because he tends to act cold and mean, even to those closest to him. Snake gets super elasticity both because he's naturally flexible but also because he's often forced to bend to the will of others, especially Ace. Arturo gets super speed because he's spent years learning to be the fastest as a way to make up for being the smallest, Big Billy is a rock because he's, well, big, but also because he can be quite stubborn when he wants to be (ex. him insisting to "help" constantly in Slave the Day). Grubber gets super sonic burps because he often finds other ways to make his presence be felt and felt loudly despite being mostly voiceless; whether it's through his grossness, his talents with poker and music, even his voice acting skills, etc.
Bang For Your Buck: This is probably the one I rewatch the least, but there's still a lot of great comedy in there. I enjoyed seeing the juxtaposition of the girls trying to find genuine ways to earn the money next to the gang doing what the gang does best (aka robbing little kids and old ladies). The running gag of Ace being oblivious to obvious solutions felt slightly out of character, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Especially watching the rest of the gang notice what he wasn't and being too scared to point it out.
I will say that I think it would've been better if at the end, the gang was able to buy the Destructo-Ray, got all geared up to use it to take over Townsville (or more likely, just blow up random shit for fun) only for them to find out that it was actually a snow cone machine when they tried to use it and they basically wasted all their money. Idk, the ending with the mayor felt a bit random and pointless.
Aspirations: Controversial but this is probably my favorite Gangreen Gang episode if I had to pick. We get to see the boys be both competent thieves and badasses and we get to see a softer, more vulnerable side to them through Sedusa, even if that vulnerable side is only revealed through manipulation. We see that they are capable of being scarily competent under the right conditions, and are desperate for love and basically anyone telling them they aren't worthless. I also headcanon that this was a huge turning point for them and made them decide to turn their lives around, but also fractured their ability to trust any outsiders for years onward, Ace especially.
I also really like the references to Buttercrush because yeah, what Sedusa is doing to the gang isn't that much different from what Ace did to Buttercup. You could argue that Ace's reasons were more defensive while Sedusa was actively seeking out the gang to use and I think there's some truth to that. But the nitty gritty of it is the same: manipulating someone younger and less experienced for the sake of power and personal safety.

My Powerpuff Girls Season 1 Episode Reviews
So recently I finished watching all six seasons of the original Powerpuff Girls, so I decided to do a season review series where I review every single episode and rate them out of 10. So without further ado...let's begin
Episode 1A: Monkey See Doggy Doo
This is the first episode of the series (in airing order that is), and it is a pretty good episode. Mojo takes an artifact and uses it to turn the entire world into dogs, and of course, the girls go stop him. As a first episode, it does a good job of introducing us to the series and its characters, like the girls and Mojo.
This is a good episode, not amazing or anything but it succeeds as being an opener to not just the season but the whole series. This episode gets a 7/10.
Episode 1B: Mommy Fearest
The professor falls in love with a woman named Ima, and once he brings her home she grounds and bans the girls from going outside, but it's later revealed that she's one of the main villains of the series; Sedusa, and, she grounds the girls so they can't catch her committing crimes. This episode is fine, it does a good job of introducing us to another one of the series' villains, but there's one part that gets me to lower this episode's score.
That's the scene where after the girls go out to fight crime Ima/Sedusa gets mad at them and when the professor comes she goes and plays the victim card by saying that the girls disrespected her to go and fight crime, keyword is, fight crime, meaning she is mad at them for fighting crime and stopping bad guys. Shouldn't this seem a little sus to the professor? He knows that the girls are supposed to fight crime and stop bad guys, that's their job, so shouldn't he say that the girls are supposed to fight crime? But no, instead he believes Ima and grounds the girls.
Ya, that's enough for me to lower the score a bit, but this episode still is a good introduction to Sedusa, so I'll give this episode a 6/10.
Episode 2A: Insect Inside
The town is being attacked by a bunch of cockroaches lead by a cockroach in what looks like a giant robot suit and the girls need to stop them. This episode is famous for that one joke where the Mayor calls the girls and Bubbles says hi and then hangs up the phone and then the mayor calls again, which is the best joke of the episode imo. This episode got some good humor in it, and the action sequence with the girls vs the giant roach is entertaining to watch. Don't have much to say about this episode other than it being an 8/10.
Episode 2B: Powerpuff Bluff
Three criminals disguise themselves as the powerpuff girls to rob stuff and get out of jail while the real powerpuff girls are sent to jail. I barely have anything to say about this one other than it's decently entertaining, 8/10.
Episode 3A: Octi Evil
Blossom and Buttercup are having a conflict with each other and HIM takes advantage of this by possessing Bubbles' plush toy Octi and making Bubbles do things he tells her to do in order to make the conflict between Blossom and Buttercup worse. This episode is a good introduction to HIM, this show's version of Satan, and the fight at the end of the episode is pretty entertaining to watch. 7/10
Episode 3B: Geshundfight
The Amobea boys stand in the rain too long and they end up getting sick which spreads a sickness across the town. This episode is a good introduction to the Amobea boys, and the plot is decently creative. 7/10
Episode 4A: Buttercrush
Buttercup gets a crush on Ace (the leader of the gangreen gang). This episode is a good introduction to the Gangreen Gang, and, like the other episodes, is entertaining to watch. 7/10
Episode 4B: Fuzzy Logic
Fuzzy Lumpkins goes insane after a squirrel goes on his property and rampages over Townsville. Good introduction to Fuzzy Lumpkins and the episode has some great jokes about him almost killing animals that get on his property as well as some other good jokes and the ending fight scene is good. 8/10
Episode 5A: Boogie Frights
The boogie man blocks out the sun so he and his goons could dance in Townsville. This episode's got a star wars reference in it and it manages to be a good reference while also not feeling forced, I like that. I also do like the creative twist on the Boogie man with him literally Boogeing, and the ending fight is both a good star wars reference and a great fight in general. 8/10
Episode 5B: Abracadaver
A dead magician named Al luison comes back from the dead as a zombie named Abracadaver to haunt the people of Townsville. I remember that I saw a clip of this episode on youtube when I was young and I actually got scared while watching it, this episode, in general, is one of the darker episodes of the series imo, like, the premise is that a dead guy comes back as a zombie and the episode has extremely creepy imagery. This episode got a creative and interesting premise and is very entertaining to watch. Buuuuuuut there's one thing that bugs me about this episode and that's the ending, it's a massive Ass Pull. Like, Blossom is thrown into the spikey crusher thing and it looks all hope is lost but...then it's revealed that Blossom and Abracadver switched places or something??? Ya, the resolution brings this episode down for me but it's still great. 8/10
Episode 6A: Telephonies
The Gangreen Gang do a bunch of prank calls and then they prank call the mayor and end up taking over his office and then they go and prank call the powerpuff girls and they end up going and beating up the villains. Don't have much to say about this one other than this is one of the funniest episodes in the series, it's got great comedy all around. 8/10
Episode 6B: Tough Love
Him mind controls the entire town to hate the powerpuff girls. This episode defiantly an iconic one, it's a pretty decent episode, the concept is creative and the episode is pretty entertaining. Don't have much to say about this one. 7/10
Episode 7A: Major Competition
A new superhero named Major Glory comes to Townsville and starts overshadowing the girls, only for it to be revealed that he is orchestrating the disasters himself just to make himself look cool. This episode is...fine, it's not that memoroble or anything but it's pretty decent. 7/10
Episode 7B: Mr. Mojo's Rising
Mojo reveals his shared history with the professor and makes him give him superpowers via chemical X. This episode gave us some good information on the creation of the PPG's and the fight with Mojo using superpowers against the girls was great. 8/10
Episode 8A: Paste Makes Waste
A paste-eating kid named Elmer accidentally swallows a radioactive fly and turns him into a gaint paste monster. This episode...exists ig. It's just painfully forgettable and most of season 1's episodes are more memorable than this. Not bad, but pretty average. 6/10
Episode 8B: Ice Sore
It's a very hot day on Townsville, but luckily Blossom discovers she has ice powers. This episode was fun, it was neat to see Blossom's new power and the final fight sequence, like most of the other episodes, is solid. 8/10
Episode 9A: Bubblevicious
Bubbles gets tired of always being known as the cute and soft one so she decides to go hardcore. I don't have much to say on this one, it's pretty good and that one joke where the dog begs for mecry is still the best joke of the series, change my mind lol. 8/10
Episode 9B: The Bare Facts
The Mayor gets kidnapped by Mojo Jojo and after the PPG's save them they each tell their own different versions of what happened. This episode is one of my favorites due to it being extremely funny with some great jokes. We also get to see different art styles for each of the girls stories, Blossom with the normal art style but with a pink filter over it, Buttercup with a green art style with some dark shading, and Bubbles with crayon drawings. Overall this is one of my favorite episodes of the season, 9/10.
Episode 10A: Cat Man Do
The girls adopt the cat of an evil supervillain they defeated earlier in the episode, but the cat is actually evil and is mind-controlling the professor to do his bidding. This is another one of my favorite episodes of not just season 1 but the whole show, I like the creative concept with an evil cat taking control of its owner and the final fight in the end was great. 10/10
Episode 10B: Impeach Fuzz
Fuzzy Lumpkins becomes the mayor. This episode is fun, I like the final battle at the end and getting to see the mayor become a badass for one episode was neat. 8/10
Episode 11A: Just Another Manic Mojo
This is another one of my favorite episodes of the season. The girls lose their ball in Mojo's place and Mojo uses this as an opportunity to try and kill them only for it to fail in the most hilarious ways. This is another one of those episodes I like purely for the jokes, this one had me laughing a lot. Easily one of my favorites of both season 1 and the whole show. 10/10
Episode 12: The Rowdyruff Boys
Mojo Jojo creates the Rowdyruff boys in order to defeat the Powerpuff girls. The concept of Mojo creating male and evil versions of the powerpuff girls is a great idea and the episode executes this perfectly, I love all the action sequences we get here with the girls fighting against the boys, this is some of the best action in the show for me. 10/10
Episode 13: Uh Oh Dynamo
The professor creates a robot mech for the girls to in called the Dynamo. Like the last episode, the best part of this one is the action, kaiju-like battle with the girls vs the balloon monster was exciting to watch. 9/10
Conclusion & Overall thoughts on season 1
This was a great first season to the show. It mostly focused on introducing many of the recurring villains of the series, and all the episodes do a great job at introducing us to each villain while also being good episodes on they're own as well. This season had many good or great episodes in it, my favorites of this season were Just Another Manic Mojo, The Rowdyruff Boys, and Cat Man Do. Overall, season 1 is a great introduction to the series.
Score Average: 7.8/10
Season 1 score: 8/10.
So, those were my reviews of each episode of the first season OG Powerpuff Girls. I hope you enjoyed reading this and I'll get to work on the season 2 reviews very soon. But for now...bye!

YAY! More progress...

Tumblr media
What I’ve learned...
Man, Buttercrush is definitely hard to look at through an adult lens. It’s basically an adult taking advantage of an underaged little girl who has a crush on him. Luckily it’s just to use her power and distract her while his friends kill her sisters. Can you believe that description is the preferable option? Another weird thing is Buttercup doesn’t talk at all except to giggle and say “I’m sorry” at the end. I wonder why that is. I’m looking it up and nobody is even questioning it.
Now Fuzzy finally shows up in the series. Man, it’s weird since he’s usually the top villain for the Powerpuff Girls. And apparently when he was reverted back to a person after being turned into meat he got a little dimmer and more possessive. The guy literally punched an old lady in the face because she was holding his hat... To return it. Still, this episode did introduce Bubble’s ability to talk to animals.
And if I waited a month, these two shorts would be perfect for October. The Boogie Man is a fun villain. It’s a shame he only appears in the comics after this. Same for Abracadaver. But that Magical Zombie does make cameo appearances in the original and once in the Reboot. Also a Star Wars reference in the Boogie Frights short. I wonder how many people parodied the Death Star run on its own (like just that scene, not doing it to parody the entire movie).
Telephonies is actually a great example of a flaw of the original series: the Villains are a lot more interesting than the girls. Outside their tropes, the Girls act like they share the same mind. But the Villains are so dynamic with unique personalities you can’t help but find them more interesting than the girls. So when you see them unite to get back at the Gangreen Gang, you are happy for them.
And speaking of happiness, HIM makes another solo appearance turning all of Townsville from love to hate. A great showing for HIM to see him grow, teleport, warp the minds of people with ease. If he ever shows up in Death Battle, I’m pretty confident he’ll win regardless of who he is thrown at. Especially if they’re another evil person.

Best Feat I found...
I think the speed feat Blossom showed is the best. You can see one frame where she was in that iron coffin before the reveal. So with her speed, she managed to not only switched places with Abracadaver but also made a realistic costume to pull off this magic trick.

Next Time...
If I’m lucky, the rest of Season 1...

No no no dorky and awkward greens is so so needed. I love them so much but it gets so draining reading them in their “edgy” and toxic ways. Like they don’t have to get along at first of course and I think they can have great banter before becoming actual friends tbh (sort of like in your Fake Dating AU). It’s so refreshing reading them stumble and be human and teens in love so thank you so so much for that. It filled a hole I didn’t know I had. Also, to add to that banter thing, them being bi just adds so many layers to that because yes, they’re still greens and they’re still cocky and they both lose out on the guy AND the girl a lot and that drives them over the wall. Opens up such a fun dynamic.
Thank you! Thank you!! I honestly feel like they’re much more fun to write this way too!
If I wanted to write adults responding to adult problems, I’d write just that, but since they’re high school and have high school problems, they’re going to be teenagers about it! It’s always been a pet peeve of mine that teenagers are never allowed to act their ages in young adult media.
And who says rivals can’t also be friends, right? I’d feel like the boys and girls would have known each other for too long and too personally, even as enemies, to act like edgy and complete strangers.
There’s a lot you can do with these characters that can make them feel exciting and new! And if that means the greens are each others poorly executed, weirdly competitive wing-men, who really should just suck it up and go out with each other, so be it.

Snake finally snaps after the boys get yet another butt-whupping courtesy of Buttercup, and once the stars stop dancing around their heads gripes to Ace with a, "You just HAD to piss off the tough-puff, didn't you?!"
I stand by the opinion that Snake has the most common sense in the gang (which isn’t saying much but still) and he definitely has another Buttercrush-style outburst at some point lmao

Fan fiction comment section [derogatory]
Tumblr media
Yes it’s an old comment but still …
I use the comment section to look for red flags such as - Is buttercup mentioned? If so is she being used to show how everyone else but her is a good person?
Justice for buttercup so many authors write her off as an ass for no reason or just because they want blossom to look perfect while writing her as “imperfect” at the same time???
More than human, another buttercrush, and everyone screams at the end of the world keep me goin not gonna lie

Undeniable Evidence that Lil' Arturbot is a Robot
Here’s a little collection of rational data proofing once and for all that Lil’ Arturo de la Guerra is a… LIL’ ROBOT!! After reading this, I can assure you that I am not a loon.
**Quick Update: It has come to my conclusion that Arturo is not a Robot… For indeed he is an Android as he is structured to mimic the appearance of living organisms while possessing internal robotics. My apologies, Shadow. That must have sounded completely ridiculous, huh?
Exhibit A) The appearance of Arturo appears perfectly geometrical. Maybe a little too perfect, perhaps? Hmm? No true mortal is perfectly balanced, unless they are satanic. The Powerpuffs Girls get a pass because they are artificially made by Professor Utonium. But what’s Arturo’s excuse, hmm? Even after getting a beating from the Powerpuffs, he still appears… unharmed (minus a few exceptions, such as his hair for example).
Exhibit B) Arturo doesn’t feel pain (granted its to an extent, but still). He was used as a basketball by Big Billy in Schoolhouse Rocked (and was perfectly okay with it, I might add). He was used as a volleyball by the Powerpuffs in Buttercrush. He was used as both a volleyball (by Fuzzy) and a baseball (by Mojo) in Telephonies. Not to mention, he was also used as a bowling ball in another episode. He must be having a ball, isn’t he? Maybe it depends on how hard he's hit (and his relationships with other characters?). To be quite honest, the Powerpuffs can really pack a punch, especially towards giant robots. So given Arturo’s size, what makes him any different?
Exhibit C) Arturo’s Chomperoos (or in other words, the structure of his jaw). Seriously, his underbite is very predominant! He reminds me of a little piranha. Perhaps that’s how the Gangreen Gang break out of prison… with Arturo’s indestructible jaw. Heck, he could probably bites right through those metal bars! Who knows! Isn’t it strange that in Moral Decay Arturo has enough insurance to go to the dentist, yet nobody there ever bothers to fix his teeth. Maybe Ace bribes the dentist not to fix them with the lunch money he robs from children. (I actually want this concept become a legitimate episode)
Exhibit D) Arturo’s quiet. A little too quiet, perhaps. He has also been shown to be in the know about what’s going on (according to early episodes) and asks pretty logical questions (given the situation), as well as being one of the first to notice something (such as in Power Lunch). Though unlike Snake, Arturo doesn’t face any consequences for them. Then again, Snake has always been the butt monkey of the group. However, Arturo does seem smart enough to know when to keep quiet, which has me thinking: Does Arturo keep secrets? Perhaps… I mean, one of his most noticable traits is being sneaky. Besides, in comparison to the rest of the members’ behaviors, he appears to be the most sane. Being a robot wouldn’t be much of a surprise!
Exhibit E) Arturo lacks compassion. For instance: In a scene from Slave The Day, where Billy was crying over Blossom snapping at him, instead of comforting Billy like the other Gangreen members –Arturo keep a distance. In Aspirations, when Sedusa betrays the boys, they were shedding tears. Arturo, however, wasn’t (though he was sad by the news) and much like the previous episode, kept a distance. It’s actually pretty subtle. Arturo is the most amused of the group when it comes to Ace’s antics and finds pleasure in the misfortune of others (then again, most villains of Townville share a similar interest). In most episodes, he carries on this trance-like expression (with the occasional smiles, though they also carry a similar stare). Perhaps he spends time thinking hard about his life. (Just to let you know, that last comment was not intended to sound that deep.)
Hey, Shadow? What’s your thoughts?
Wow, you put more thought into this than I was expecting. Well needless to say you’ve impressed me at the very least, but I’m still gonna cue this one up to fan theory because at the end of the day it’ll probably never be confirmed or denied unless Craig comes out and says it himself ;p
