Can't believe Louis does free meet and greets after his show. Like he is that strong and love his .... "fanbase" that much. Also, he really thrives on people admiring him, there are occasional patrionizing moments but he really loves when people are there FOR him. I respect on how he perceive things tbh

Uh, I feel like this is true of Harry, too, minus the free meet and greets, but also of so many other artists as well (cough cough Taylor Swift)? Lots of other artists DO give off these same vibes, but I also get that lots of people neck-deep in these dudes aren't going too far afield

not to argue but maybe the XF gig was put in place based on him having a plan for 2019. w/o going into contracts and timelines etc its worth considering that a plan that includes new management efforts and things happening within Sony would have led to this gig. I'm the first to say that being a judge while your bandmates have active solo careers touring and charting is a poor look. But it also doesn't rule out louis having the ability to make the best of an unwelcome XF gig as a stopgap

anon i’m sure you mean well but i think you’re missing the point. do i think he’s making the most of this? absolutely. but i cannot imagine a world in which he put an effort into “getting this gig” or that anyone who has louis the artist’s interest at heart would ever want him near this rotting show. 

you’re forgetting about his 2018 plans. what happened to those, exactly? and who nixed them? do you think that louis had plans for this year (as we know he did, by setting up the touring company a year ago, teasing a tour, saying his album was his priority, and imo looking decidedly very dead inside everytime we saw him early this year, not even being allowed to go pick up his award) or do you think he lied and was fucking around until he made plans for next year instead? 

or do you think he had those plans and something happened? because if something happened like, idk, sony not putting any time or money behind him and JGG failing to do jack shit for him, then he was still fucked over. 

so let’s see he managed to get his new team in june and then what? a management team that isn’t even UK based decides the best course of action they decide on is to do XF instead of spending time working on his solo stuff? (because this whole stint has taken an incredibly large amount of time away from him, let’s not pretend otherwise.) is that also why he looked absolutely miserable when he explained that the show was okay for him? or is it more likely that syco decided to put him to use on the show since they weren’t planning on putting any of his music out or promoting him at all? his LTHQ account has gone dead after all. his website was only just minimally updated. his newsletter is also dead for the time being. 

this is what we know that so far syco hasn’t cared about him. epic hasn’t cared about him. epic didn’t allow/enable him to go pick up his hardwon iheart award while they made sure camila had a red carpet when she went. their only tweet/acknowledgment about MY was a shady shazam contest that seemed to go nowhere. bty was pulled from radio as it started climbing. tyler brown of syco doesn’t even know a louis, TXF (again, which is syco owned and would benefit from playing his solo music) hasn’t played a single one of his songs. 

i certainly hope he’s been able to strategize with his team and make plans for 2019 while the show has been on. and i’ve been happy that he hasn’t had to make appearances on the show’s behalf (as robbie and ayda have done repeatedly). i’m happy he’s getting a good edit. i’m happy he has had reprieve from the stunts. i’m happy that he has seemed to enjoy the boys’ company and has been able to share his thought process.

and as always, i have hope that things will improve, and that he may be let free from sony or that TSZG are the ones who negotiated for a less difficult XF and for better promo going forward. that maybe syco goes under and he’s allowed to move on without issue. but there’s no way to know that yet. what i do know is that save for the brief inconsistent bursts of promo there has been no attempt at brand building, no attempt at promoting him beyond the fandom, there’s been no sustained or thought out rollout (honestly remember the incorrect links in the newsletter? remember the wrong icon changes on twitter? there’s been SO MUCH fuckery at this point i’d love to know what people think has been good in any way) and if you pay attention to that shit i don’t know how you can say otherwise. i don’t know how you can observe a multitude of artists and the way they are launched and promoted (we literally have 4 other examples in this very fandom) and think something has not been incredibly, horribly wrong with louis’ “launch”. 

and that’s not because i think he’s DUMB or a stupid victim. and to suggest that anyone who has been fucked over by a label or management is some “dumb victim” is so insulting to so many people who have been mistreated. we’ve all seen the list of people syco alone decided to fuck over. what in the last year has indicated that he’s not one of them?
