📖 BOOK REVIEW 📖⁣ ⁣ Hello all! Today I’m back with a book review for a book I may never have picked up if it hadn’t been for the fabulousness that is @savidgereads and his awesome book club with Melanie Sykes. I am a bit late to the party with this review but I’m slightly behind with all my reviews at the moment! ⁣ ⁣ Lady In Waiting is a nonfiction read following the life of Anne Glenconner whom for a time, was lady in waiting (as the title may suggest) to Princess Margaret. Now I’m not a royalist by any means although at the same time I’m not completely against the monarchy. I sit somewhere firmly in the middle, not really minding so much. I am however an avid reader of anything based in the Tudor, Georgian or Victorian period. ⁣ ⁣ I approached this book thinking that perhaps I wasn’t the target audience and I was both amazed and delighted by how fascinated I ended up becoming by the author’s story. She has led such an interesting life, full of drama, excitement, grief and loss and I was engrossed in her story from the moment we met her. ⁣ ⁣ I became so invested in her life - from my disbelief and occasional anger at her husband’s behaviour to sadness at the personal struggles she has suffered and finally, admiration at her independence, determination and sheer strength of character by the end of the book. ⁣ ⁣ This is a story that makes you look at the royal family in a whole new light, especially some of the more colourful characters. Whilst I’m still not the royal family’s biggest champion, I can certainly appreciate how different and difficult their lives must be at times. As quarantine continues so does my self imposed book club to myself 😂📚 Book 2: Lady in Waiting by Anne Glenconner 👑 Although initially I bought it as a present, I was interested enough to buy my own copy over Christmas! And its such an amazing true story of a woman who with her own ups and downs in life also had to manage working for the British Royal family...
