I finished listening to The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and then watched the movie and as usual I’m so disappointed in the movie version, but for different reasons than they left out too much. I was disappointed because the book was about resilience and healing. The Society wanted to share their experiences as part of their healing process. Juliet’s character was desperately searching for her real voice, her real thoughts, and her real feelings after having to be the person who kept up moral during the war through her column. They left out these key pieces of the story and it changed the feel of it all. The characters did things, but the drive behind it was missing.
