Before the year ends I want to thank the amphibia team again for giving us such an amazing show with such loveable and relatable characters. Even months after wrapping up I still think a lot about the characters and different messages and always cheered me up throughout my last few semesters. this show deserves all the love it can get and more. ❤️

Magical March Day 5! Today it's about the Frogs and I FINALLY get to rant about Amphibia!

Because I was NOT prepared for the ending of their show....

This Show, THIS SHOW! OMG, has absolutely NO business hitting as hard as it does in its finale. And to be fair, the show is good. but its like, happy funny ha ha good. Its comedy is always on point and the characters are hilarious and fun. But the ending is on a whole other level.

OK, *Breathes*

I don't want to go into spoilers, this is more of an emotional vent of praise and love for the creators of this series.

I, like many others, group this show together with Gravity Falls and The Owl house, because there is a lot of cross-over in the creative teams and the shows themselves cross-reference a bit (well, more so these later shows with callbacks to Gravity Falls). And I ADORE Owl House, I truly do, and I highly recommend that you go watch that. But my initial view of Amphibia has changed.

Like those other shows, Amphibia is a slow burn in its build-up. Season 1 is all about world-building and character setup. They are all great likeable characters, and the 10-minute story leans very strongly into the Disney-esk Child-friendly formula (This, is partly why I think this show did so well, It knew how to play ball with Disney).

The ending of season 1 is an emotional rollercoaster and setups up the now progressive storytelling for season 2. At this point, the episodic shenanigans are largely done away with in favour of a serialised story that progresses all the way through to the end of season 3.

and THAT ENDING. Remember how i mentioned that this show succeeds by playing nice with the Disney tone....well they said 'F**k that' on the final and went 9000% into anime-level action. But beyond that, this shows heart is freakn huge. And wraps up Anne's growth so so so beautifully.

The fact that this is a show about frogs, and the eventual theme of the series is change, metamorphosis is so freak'n poetic that Shakespeare would be proud. Amphibia knew its ending, it knew how to stick and how to give the time needed to drive it home.

It honestly makes me so sad for Owl House that they won't get the same space to fully express the finally as Amphibia did (and please well at me if in the future I was horribly wrong about hit). But as it stands, Amphibia has one of the best endings to a show I've ever seen.

I cannot recommend this show highly enough, please do yourself and your kids a favour and go watch this show.
