Happy 8-year anniversary to Frozen!

Today marks 8 years since the release of Frozen, a movie that would resonate with me like no other and change my life for years to come. Earlier this week I made a post for the 2-year anniversary of its sequel, Frozen 2, so today I wanted to do the same for the original movie (as well as the shorts). I’m going to be sharing photos from special events/occasions that I attended throughout the movie’s history - a sort of “trip down memory lane” for all the fun times I’ve personally had the privilege of experiencing with my beloved franchise.

Since the original Frozen has been around a lot longer than the sequel, I have a lot more photos to share so I apologize in advance for the length of this post!

Thought I’d start with the very first Frozen items I ever purchased: these mugs from Disney Store in late 2013. It was literally the first time since I was a kid that I wanted to buy something from a Disney movie - little did I know what it would lead to 8 years later! (anyone who’s seen my collection now knows what I mean!)

My first trip to Disneyland after Frozen mania hit, in mid-2014. On the left is the original location for Anna and Elsa’s meet & greet, a small building in Fantasy Land (complete with Olaf on top). It wasn’t unusual for lines to be two hours long! Eventually they moved the location to a bigger space in California Adventure. Also on the right hand photo, a Let It Go cake I saw in a window!

Once I became a Frozen fan, I started hearing about D23 Expo and wanted to check it out. I went to my first one in 2015 and I was delighted to see all the Frozen love!

There was also a lot of promotion for Frozen Fever!

My best experience at the convention was attending Frozen Fandemonium, an event featuring the Frozen songwriters, as well as special appearances by Josh Gad, Kristen Bell, and others. They discussed the creation of the Frozen songs and even did some performances. Highlights were Kristen Bell singing the deleted song “More Than Just the Spare” and everyone getting together to sing “Let It Go.” The entire show is available to watch on YouTube here. Such an awesome experience!

I visited Disneyland a few more times the following years and was happy to see Frozen added to their parades and night shows, especially to the debut of “Paint the Night,” one of my favorites. During the holidays of 2015, they even added the Let It Go segment to two back-to-back showings of World of Color. I was pleased about it, though I could also understand how Disney was pushing Frozen a bit too much at the parks to the point where people were starting to get sick of it (not that I ever had that problem, lol).

In 2016, the Frozen theatrical show started playing at the Hyperion Theater in California Adventure. I saw it for the first time during the holidays that year and they honestly did a very good job condensing the movie into just an hour and adding a couple of unique touches.

In spring of 2017, after the Frozen ride had opened at Disney World in Orlando, I decided that I wanted to take my first trip out there...so I did, and it was amazing.

Besides the ride, the Norway area of Epcot was also filled with Frozen! There’s Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhouse where they had their meet & greet, as well as these lovely topiaries right outside.

There was also a really cool Nordic/Frozen themed museum (more photos of that here).

Although most of it was in Epcot, Frozen was still in the other lands too! There’s a float in Magic Kingdom for one of my most favorite Disney parades, “Festival of Fantasy,” projections and segments in the night shows, and a sing-along show at Hollywood Studios.

In summer of 2017, there was another D23 Expo, this time with lots of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure! I attended a panel where the creators, including the song writers, discussed the short, showed us some exclusive footage, and did a live  performance of “When We’re Together” (which had yet to be released to the public at the time). The lithograph on the right was given away for free at random times at the Disney Animation booth, as well as signed versions from the filmmakers (which unfortunately I missed out on). I almost missed my chance to get the lithograph at all, but I asked the cast member nicely if I could have one and he gave it to me :)

I took another trip to Disneyland a couple days after Christmas that year and saw that they were showing a sneak peek of OFA before the Frozen stage play. I thought that was weird since the short had already been out for a month, lol.

Although D23 Expo 2019 was mostly filled with Frozen 2, I did manage to snag this signed poster from Joe Caramagna, the author of the Frozen Dark Horse comics.

And lastly, in January of 2020, just a couple months before the pandemic, I saw the Broadway play of Frozen at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. After listening to the soundtrack for months, it was great to finally see the performance myself (though I’m still salty that they removed “True Love” from this version).

Unfortunately I didn’t do much in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic, plus lack of new Frozen projects for Disney to promote. But hopefully that will change...can’t say when or how, but sometime in the future I hope to have another bunch of photos like this for Frozen 3!

Frozen Fan Fest Haul and doll comparison/review

Well after a VERY long day, didn’t get a chance to unbox my dolls until the past hour), seeing most of the other dolls I wanted when I was out earlier, I FINALLY Got Me Some Frozen 2 Anna Dolls, The Basic Hasbro Doll you can just everywhere, and the Singing Anna Doll from the Disney Store!

Really Glad I was able to find both of these. For the Hasbro Anna I had to go to both walmarts as the first one barely had any frozen 2 stuff beyond what I saw when I went there last week, so I went to another walmart that’s a little out of the way I haven’t been to before and found her no problem and saw all the other Hasbro F2 stuff out currently! It all looks so good! The Disney Store Doll I found no Problem, They had Plenty of the Singing Anna Dolls, singing Elsa dolls, kirstoff dolls, and the prologue doll 2 pack, among most of the other disney store merch like the little figurines and such.

First Up I’ll be Looking at the Hasbro Frozen 2 Anna Doll. First Impressions I overall like her a lot, her outfit looks nice, her hair looks and feels great, Decently proportioned, and she’s pretty good for a hasbro doll

Her Face is Very Cute, very Warm and Friendly, even if it doesn’t look too much like Anna IMO.

Her Hair is also Very nice, and I really like the F2 Anna hair style with her hair down save for the one braid going around the back and down, this doll pulls it off quite nicely

Her outfit Looks nice but ALL the Detail is printed on, though some other Hasbro Dolls have a physical sash on her waist and not a printed on one. My problem with her outfit is i’m not a fan of the Weird...idk.. Felty I guess... Material they used, The un even loose ends of the Coat/Cape thing gets stuck on the main dress a lot and this outfit just doesn’t feel good to touch or hold honestly

Also the Coat/Cape thing both a separate item from the dress and attached to t he dress and can’t be removed. Kind of a Bummer Honestly, though some Hasbro Anna dolls don’t even come with it so that’s something.

She Has Painted on legs, and Barbie Heel Feet like other Hasbro Anna Dolls. It’s fine for a Mass Market Retail doll. I don’t expect pants or leggings but they would be nice.

Her Boots are nicely detailed, though sadly unpainted. Some of  the Hasbro F1 dolls have Painted details on the boots, and others don’t so I guess this makes sense.

Problems with the outfit aside I quite Like this doll, especially for a Hasbro doll, they are definitely getting better!

Next Up is the Disney Store Singing Anna Doll. Fist Impressions... I LOVE THIS DOLL!!!(for the most part). I really only have one or 2 minor issues with her and that’s it

Her face is Amazing. The new Face Sculpt just looks fantastic, though slightly annoyed at the side glace but it looks good on her. We’re Getting closer and closer to that 1000% on model Anna Face, we just need her to have a straight glance. Also you can kinda see it in the pic here but she has a weird smudge on her face. not sure why, was like that in the box, gonna try to get rid of it.

Her Hair Looks very Nice, Loving the Curls, BUT...it’s style glued in a way to look like it’s blowing in the wind. Not a fan. I Love the curls but would rather just long straight hair, might fix that maybe, if not on this one then on other Disney store F2 Anna dolls I know i’m going to get.

Her Outfit Looks FANTASTIC. She actually has a sash! (even if it’s only on the front side). All the Detail Looks awesome and so far spot on to the movie!

You can Actually Remove the CoatCape thing! and she Looks really good in just the black dress

Though the Back side is Plain and has nothing going.

The boots are Very Nicely Detailed, have the Purple underside (kinda hard to tell here), and have the gold bits painted on, though the boots this time around feel way more soft and rubbery in comparison to the previous Disney store Anna Boots.

Undressing her and she Has Painted on Leggings/Pants (and it’s not just her legs like the hasbro doll), which the disney store Frozen Fever Anna dolls also had. Kinda bummed out but not too surprised. Also she has One Articulated Arm and one non articulated arm to accommodate for the singing feature. 

Her Speaker is in the shape of a heart and I dig it, I think other singing disney store dolls also have heart shaped speakers. For most of today I thought the singing feature on mine didn’t work because I couldn’t get her to do it in the box, but figured it out at around midnight and got it to work. I would post a video but it’s VERY VERY Loud surprisingly and I don’t wanna wake my folks up. She sings A snippet from “The Next Right thing” and it sounds great, will post about tomorrow.

Overall I REALLY Like this doll. She looks great, is amazingly deatailed, and is just a beautiful Piece. Definitely Looking forward to hopefully more articulated non singing variants that i’m fairly certain are coming. I think that JC penny Anna and Elsa set might not be as articulated as regular disney store dolls like the previous JC penny dolls, though IDK yet this is just a guess.

Final Thoughts, I’m Very Very Happy with these dolls. I’m slightly disappointed with The Hasbro Anna mainly with her outfit but she’s still great. I  L O V E  the Disney Store Singing Anna (though I really don’t care about the singing feature), Really Happy to have a Brand new Disney store Anna with a brand new face sculpt, with her Awesome Frozen 2 Look. Definitely Looking forward to getting more Hasbro and Disney store Frozen 2 Dolls.

So at this point I dont think it’s any secret that I love @annabluemusik and the stories her songs tell. Well in a few of those songs a very special fluffy unicorn named Eden was shown and introduced. And I immediately was captivated. There is something about Eden that just draws me to him. Maybe it’s his, “I don’t give 2 flying marshmallows about what the world thinks of me” or maybe it’s super unique style. Actually its most definitely both! Because combining those 2 things (and soooooo much more) are what make Eden, Eden. I have tried to get every piece of merch with him (might have missed out on the shmoopies candle and think I’m missing a notebook) but for the most part I’ve got a nice little collection. My review of the short story Summer (un)lovin’ is coming in the next post. Gotta finish reading it. Between work and adult exhaustion I haven’t had the time to sit down and just finish it. But that’s coming tonight. And I gotta say, it’s a drama fueled fluffy ride that I absolutely adored! But long rant about how amazing Eden is, let me wrap up by saying thank you to anna and her friends for giving us a small sneak peek into their lives and introducing us to some amazing people and stories! Keep it up! Also big shoutout to @annedrawsstuff for bringing these stories to life. I know I’m here for the long haul!
