dossier:

deaths existence came about when life began, when only chaos and darkness reigned. they exist beyond time and space, part of them resides inside anita blake.

outside of the marshal, they take on whatever form they like, borrowing bodies and wearing human skin. sometimes they are hosts close to death or wishing for it, praying to the universe for a second chance or to end it all. sometimes they are cold corpses left on metal slabs or in back alleys. death takes from mother earths energy, putting their skin back together again almost as if they never died. in these forms, they can be 'killed' or dispatched, forced to find another body when the one they occupied has been destroyed.

outside of their borrowed forms, they are a creature of shadows that vary in form and size. usually the shape of a woman but varies from time to time. their voice is a the sound of many all talking at once as if taking the voice from beyond the grave. their eyes are just glowing circles with no real mouth or nose, shadows forming what would be arms and legs though they glide rather than walk. they prefer borrowed skin to be able to truly interact with the world outside the shadow realm.

they are the mother of the undead, they are the hunger in their bellies and share the need for satisfaction in whatever form it comes. to obtain immortality, once must sacrifice their life in exchange. that is how the universe works, blood, souls, flesh, energy—a sacrifice was always required. so death hungered for it.

they lack true human emotion or understanding of it with few exceptions surrounding need and hunger. emotions outside of what is needed to obtain something confuses them, unable to grasp why creatures reduce themselves to playing human when they are so much more.

abilities: they can enter dreams, possession, shape shift, hypnotize, raise the dead and heal the undead, bring someone back to life if their soul has yet to move on, travel through shadows

weaknesses: can be imprisoned using ancient magic without access to a physical form to escape, significantly less power in the day time, can be bargained with or tricked, they can be bound by their word, mind control or influence can be over powered by real love ( death can not process human emotion )

how long have you been roleplaying?

I started passing a notebook back and forth with my friend in middle school. My first muse was a canon character from The Last Vampire by Christopher Pike against her LOTR elf. Then I wandered into the cesspool that was AOL chats, made my own storyline because I was so awful no one would let me play with them (I'm still writing in that storyline and made some lifelong friends in it), played a bit on Myspace, had one hideous Facebook experience, and then moved on to the golden age of InvisionFree before discovering Tumblr and Discord rp. I've always played in groups or with a couple people I already knew until this year though, so I'm actually pretty new to Tumblr indie!

what got you interested in roleplaying?

All my favorite games when I was a kid involved making up stories with my toys (Barbies, Beanie Babies, stuffed animals, dolls, the little plastic figurines I called my "friends"), so I consider this a slightly more sophisticated extension of that. I just play with my dolls inside my head now. 😂

are there any lesser played canon characters you’d like to see in your community?

ARE there. I'm going to stick to some lesser known fandoms rather than listing specific muses from all of them, but I'd love to see more from: Sin City, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, The Lost Boys, Fright Night, All for the Game, Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter, Dreamcatcher, Simon Snow, and The Raven Cycle. From my larger fandoms, I'd love to see more King Ezekiel (TWD), Scott Lang, Ian Rogers, Natasha Stark, & Yelena Belova (Marvel), and Jack Kline (Supernatural).

would you consider writing them?

Girl, don't tempt me. We're already out of control.

what do you enjoy the most about creating ocs?

I write most of my OCs on Discord rather than Tumblr because the ones I have here don't get a lot of traction (which is fine, no shade, Steve and Bucky are my favorites too 😂). Most of them were created for a specific partner or group and then grew into their own things out of that, so I suppose it's the same thing I love about writing canon muses: the way the story and the characters come to life in ways I never expected when I'm building with another person. My muses constantly surprise me, OC or otherwise.

also I do just really love the setting/vibe of the Vampire Chronicles, as well as the Anita Blake series and the World of Darkness’s vampires and werebeasts. I don’t always like what actually gets done with those settings---the AB series itself is rancid trash---but god I love the POTENTIAL and would always be down for exploring it in RP. . . though damn I just cannot see Bram as a Ricean vampire like EVER, he is NOT the kind of pretty that she pretty much demands all characters be regardless of sex lol

There were times when Anita really regretted her choice in career, she didn’t keep the normal hours of a regular person. More times than not she ended up awake all night and sleeping maybe three or four hours before her day started. Unfortunately with the growing vampire issue in the city, she hadn’t even gotten those three or four hours. Instead she’d been making rounds to all of the vampire dens, asking questions, getting into the occasional fight and barely getting any information. So was the life of a licensed vampire executioner. Anita combed her fingers through her hair as she moved along the street, only halting when her instincts alerted her to someone following close behind. “Don’t you know following people at night is an easy way to get your ass kicked?”
