So excited about my Sumia Horse Shoot

Ever since I was a little girl living in Tokyo, anime has always been my absolute favorite! The colorful characters, the amazing stories, and all the creativity just swept me off my feet. One of the best things ever is bringing these characters to life through cosplay. Dressing up, becoming the characters, and stepping into their worlds is just so magical!

This shoot was super special to me because I got to cosplay as Sumia from Fire Emblem Awakening. And guess what? I got to shoot with a horse! As someone who loves riding, combining my love for horses with my passion for anime was like a dream come true.

Sumia is such a sweetheart! She's a Pegasus Knight, and even though she's a bit clumsy, she has the kindest heart. She starts off a little unsure of herself, but she has so much hidden potential that she discovers along the way. Her journey of self-discovery and growth is just so inspiring.

In Fire Emblem Awakening, Sumia is part of Chrom's Shepherds and has this amazing bond with her Pegasus. She can calm and connect with her Pegasus in such a beautiful way, showing her gentle and caring nature. As a rider, I totally relate to that special bond between a rider and their horse. Portraying that through Sumia was just unforgettable.

Cosplaying as Sumia let me blend my love for anime and horses in the most wonderful way. The shoot was filled with so much joy, excitement, and a sprinkle of magic.

Today… we go back. WAYYYY back. All the way to when I first started doing #photography. It was #Katsucon2004. By this time, I was now moving on from being a mere attendee to the convention scene and becoming a more involved participant. I was starting in on staffing gigs, still very green, but while here at #Katsucon, I came across a friend who I had met a year prior and had this amazing #cosplay that prompted me to consider not just taking one or two photos, but a series of them. then group them all in their very own album. And so the #photoshoot concept was born, a concept that continues to this very day. And in a sense of irony, the youngest sister now approaches. The earliest example of my #cosplay kryptonite. Apart from big poofy dresses, there’s also the cosplay of #goddesses, in this case, one who is a #Secondclass, #firstcategory, #limitedlicense #hyperjealous #robotbuilding #crazylittlesister of a creature we call… #Skuld. On today’s #TBT we move forward in time by a few months to #2009 and #Otakon. Oh how I miss #Baltimore and her now former #Fountains! Up until this point, I have featured @LadyAvaCosplay mostly in her video gaming personae, so it’d eventually come to pass that there would be a manga or anime shoot to come in.
