There were a lot of good (and some weird) things about vending at this reptile expo, but hands down the best part was getting to sell my mice in person. Usually people contact me through my business page and arrange the sale ahead of time, and local pickup is at a third public location - a gas station that surely thinks I'm making shady drug deals in their side parking lot with how often I'm over there and I don't know if they would consider that better or worse than being up to mouse shenanigans - so I only ever get to talk to people for a hot second in person while we transfer animals and cash. They rarely handle the mice at all in front of me.
But the expo? Holy shit, man. The look on people's faces when they read the sign that said "please touch, we're very friendly!" or when they started to walk past thinking I had feeder mice only to hear me call "do you want to hold a mouse?" My table was PACKED with people jammed around the mouse bin marveling at how soft mice are and how nice they were. I repeated dozens and dozens of times about how they're bred for temperament, yes the ears are bred that way for show, yes the tail is longer because of show breeding. I repeated so many times "she won't jump out of your hands/bite I promise." I had dozens, probably 100+ kids LIGHT UP when I asked if they wanted to hold or pet one. One small boy, maybe 2 years old max, spotted my mice from like 15 feet away and his whole posture changed and he shrieked MOUSE??!! and lunged towards them from his mother's arms and only her incredibly fast reflexes saved him. I was asked several times why the mice hadn't pooped or peed on anyone, and had to explain how that's a stress behavior from mice that aren't bred to be comfortable being handled.
And it's always especially gratifying when people scared of mice will come pet or hold them after I tell them they don't have to, but also they'll never meet a nicer mouse and you won't BELIEVE how soft they are. How many times today I heard "oh... I didn't know they could be this sweet." Adults and kids alike! There was one little girl who so very badly wanted to hold one but she was so scared about it her hands started shaking as I was getting ready to put the mouse in them... And the moment the mouse was in her hands she literally melted. I don't have a better word, she relaxed completely and her face lit up as she smiled in relief. I don't know what she was expecting but whatever it was, the mouse she held put her at complete ease.
Like idk. Idk. I sold every single mouse I brought. Easily! Hours before the end of the expo. And made so, so many people happy just to experience them. It's enough to make me want to bring some ambassadors. I had a couple of my Really friendly girls there that were just so desperate to climb into hands they hopped up into the hands of complete strangers. Not one person got even a nip, not even the small children who got overexcited or anxious and grabbed a little too hard for a second. I am extremely proud of my gals, I think they really showed people how gentle and good mice can be.
Anyway. Completely worth it. I'm going to make a sign explaining the things I repeated 70 biajillion times to save my poor throat, and go back next month.

Have you ever imagined you would come this far, having a very popular blog, knowing cast members, and even having some fans? I acknowledge (and admire) your dedication in achieving all this, but I wonder how it feels like XD
Honestly? No, not at all. XD I never sought any sort of popularity, and some days I don't even want it. Some days, it's kind of lonely. I made this blog primarily to be a resource archive, and to share my insights that seven years of being a Tangled fan had granted me (at the time that TBEA aired), but when crew members started showing up on Tumblr, I one day found myself in the headspace of, "The worst they could do is completely ignore me." So I reached out to everyone I could at first, and kept talking to those who answered.
I think the biggest shocker for me was finding out that crew who hadn't pinged my radar knew who I was. When I went to the Tangled the Series panel at D23 Expo in 2017, Ricky Roxburgh bound up to me, all excited to meet me, like I was some kind of celebrity, and I didn't know who he was (yet). It was surprising, to say the least. When I visited DTVA studios, people's faces lit up when we met for the first time, because they knew who I was. It was like meeting an old friend for the first time. Kay Hayes used to run livestreams of their drawing Tangled fanart, and I attended a few, and whenever I did, they'd say, "Oh hi, Bex!" and people in chat would lose their minds, because I was the Bex. I never thought I'd be the anything. XD And close to the series ending, or just after it, I was told by one of the animators that whenever they (the animation team) animated New Dream interacting, they thought of me and hoped I approved. Me, personally. I was literally told that I was influential in how New Dream turned out. I'm not ashamed to say I cried when I heard that.
The thing is, I'm just a person. I'm a middle-aged woman who works as a bookkeeper in a very small accounting office to pay my bills. There are people who would claim that I'm too old to still be a part of fandom space (especially things that originated when I was already an adult). But I think being in my 30s when the series began and in my 40s now gives me a unique insight into things, in that I'm an age-peer to a lot of the people who worked on the show. I don't come across as a silly kid, I come across as a mature adult. That made me trustworthy and on equal footing with the crew, so they were willing to talk to me in private about things (and even, in some cases, give me gifts that the public didn't get to see).
Fandom has always been led by adults, and fandom spaces were invented by women, of which I am both. But I never dreamed that the creation of my fandom blog would lead me to having days where I had so many asks in my inbox that I was too overwhelmed to even open it, or have to make hard and fast rules about what I didn't want to discuss, or create an FAQ for literally frequently asked questions. I didn't think people would look up to me, or find me too intimidating to talk to me off anon (hello to the handful of you who let me see who you are!). I'm just a person, just a fellow fan. If anything, this experience has taught me that everyone we idolize are just people, too. Sure, they might have a career or hobby that thrusts them into the spotlight, and fame and power might go to their heads, but they're really just people just like the rest of us. Just like you.

7th Stage Special Interview - Terashima Takuma (Translation)
"Please give us your voices and smiles so that we can fill this large space with positive feelings. Let's have fun!"
No reposting or retranslating without permission.
Click read more for the full interview.
What did you think about the shooting for this pamphlet?
The shooting for the Uta☆Pri pamphlet is already fun just because of the concept, and the bright atmosphere in the studio always makes me excited.  Also, personally, I changed the star-shaped earrings I've been using from white to gold, since I feel like ST☆RISH has evolved once again.
How did you feel when you first heard about the 7th STAGE?
I was happy.  “7” is an important number for ST☆RISH, which has become complete with 7 members, so there is a special feeling in the simple joy of being allowed to perform live again.
Please tell us your impression of "Uta no☆Prince-sama! Maji LOVE Kingdom" after having watched the completed film.
While I was amazed by the performances of QUARTET NIGHT and HE★VENS, I also thought in relation to ST☆RISH that "We've come this far!".
This sense of security isn’t something that has been achieved without hard work. But that's why I have a hunch that we might be able to do something greater/riskier in the future.
Also, I think that the successful realization of the difficult task of doing a “live” in a movie has led to the confidence of the work “Uta☆Pri”.
I was invited to speak at the “Anime Expo 2019” screening with Mamo-chan (Miyano Mamoru), and we were told beforehand that there might not be many people there because it was the first time. But as it turned out, it was packed full, and I was really moved to be able to experience the love for Uta☆Pri around the world starting from people in the United States.
What were your thoughts on the special unit song "Up-Down-Up!" that Otoya participated in?
No matter who he works with, he is always influenced by them, and his ability to stay true to his "Otoya" character at the same time is what makes him so wonderful. Especially this time, working with the two extremes, the strict Ai-senpai and the cheerful Van, was definitely a good experience. In the drama part, it was refreshing to see how Otoya, who is so straightforward and passionate in everything he does, could "skip work" with Van.
The song was dance-focused, which is typical of "idol" music, and it felt more like a "live viewing" than a movie, which I believe was perfect for the first performance of the special units. I also like the costumes, which boldly used camouflage patterns that had never been seen before in "Uta☆Pri".
The costumes of the other units are also pretty distinct, right?
Personally, I think "Feather in the hand" is miraculously beautiful in every way, from the costumes to the performance to the chemistry between the members. The end result is just heavenly.
It was ST☆RISH's "Fantasic☆Prelude" that marked the beginning of the live. The start with a countdown was reminiscent of their origin, don’t you think?
I could see how much Uematsu (Uematsu Noriyasu) and his team cherish everything they have done so far. At the same time, I could feel that it is because of the presence of the fans that the seven of them can keep going without being overwhelmed by the weight of their history. The countdown and name-calling are also "official fanchants", so if we sing this song at the live, I would like you to please join.
Is there anything else you felt about the group's performance?
I thought it was amazing how "Ultrablast" managed to capture the feel of a real "live" by using the most realistic special effects at the climax of the performance. Moreover, we have also used flames when singing at the fan meetings, so I could see how their performance was full of spirit. The wish to show how much they’ve worked and their "offensive" stance/position combined lit up flames.
Also, when they were going to the main stage, he waved his hands to the audience without worrying about the camera, which I thought was very Otoya-like, and my favorite part was when Tokiya drew a heart mark toward the camera as if saying “I love you”. I'm impressed by Tokiya's humility and boldness, performing such fan service off-mic. That said, it just seemed that way to me, and I'm not sure if it's true or not.
I think the fact that they added the detail of the shoulder movements when they were catching their breath at the end of the song. There are parts that overlap with the live performances that we have done, and I thought that it was a movie that really consolidated the years, including our (the actors) own experiences.
The first song sung by all 18 members “Maji LOVE Kingdom” is also deeply moving.
I was happy to be able to feel like we were friends who were creating a live performance together, when the groups did each other’s hand signs, for example. In the end, Otoya stood in the middle of the three groups, which made me proud as a partner who has walked together with him for a long time.
It’s a live show where the staff in charge of the camera did a good job, wouldn’t you agree?
That’s right! I can see how the staff members watched the documentaries (dramas) of the idols and wondered what they could do behind the scenes to convey the appeal of the idols. I know that this is actually what we, the actors, are thinking about as well. I wonder how we can make their character/personality shine through in our performances and singing...
Do you think that the release of your solo best album has helped you gain a renewed understanding and appreciation of your idol?
Yes, the new songs were especially powerful. The fact that there are things that can be noticed through the music is what makes "Uta☆Pri" what it is. "I am Here” reminded me of some of the things I said in my greeting at the live performance. I realized once again that if I can help them grow in this way, I want to work even harder myself.
When I asked Broccoli-san if Otoya himself had written the lyrics of "Ai to Yoberu ki no Shita de," they immediately pulled out an interview of Otoya that served as the basis for the question and answered "Yes!”, I was shocked to hear that answer.
I realized how much his creators love him, and that even though I thought I was the closest person to him, there were people who I had overlooked or carelessly forgotten about.
The reason why I added a breath at the beginning of the song is because I wanted to make a song where you can really feel Otoya's "life".
Please tell us about some of the most memorable moments from past live performances.
All the unit songs from the "Theater Shining'' series performed at the 5th STAGE left a lasting impression on me. For example, I remember the three members of "Polaris'' wearing very tight-fitting costumes (laughs). I rode on a trolley for "Pirates of the Frontier'', and it was fun to share the waiting time with the audience who noticed me nearby. Also, I’m always impressed by the lengths Shimono (Hiro)-san is willing to go! He overcomes his own limits to be able to do what only Syo can do. As for me, I believe that there is a balance that connects Otoya and me on stage. There are times when I've gone overboard and regretted it, but it's fun to think about what to do each time.
Then, what do you want to say right now to the idol who will be your partner in the live performance?
I want to ask him what he wants me to do. Among those things, I want to do what I can and also try my best with the things I’m not good at.
Finally, a message to "Uta☆Pri" fans who purchased this pamphlet!
Please give us your voices and smiles so that we can fill this large space with positive feelings. Let’s have fun together!

Convention Blog Post
Ironically enough, I went to Metrocon in Tampa just earlier this month! I am currently interning in Ohio, but that 4th of July week I had came back to Florida to visit family and friends. My friends, who are interested in cosplay, and I wanted to go somewhere, and I have already been taking another Japanese class this summer C so why not just attend Metrocon (we also really like Tampa). It was definitely an unforgettable experience and all very knew to me as I have never cosplayed before or even watched any animes, besides Fairytail. I am glad I went, even though I didn’t know any characters or shows, my friends tried their best to explain them to me. More than anything, I enjoyed the deep dive into a world of anime fandom and youth culture which brought thousands of fans and vendors in celebration of pop culture. At the time, I wasn’t thinking much about anything, but just living in the moment. I am just now reflecting on my experience there. While I did enjoy going, I don’t think I would go again just because I am not fully immersed myself in anime/manga, but I am always happy to try new things and so I am glad to say I have gone.
From the moment I walked into the convention center, the atmosphere was electric. With the lobby filled with cosplayers, I felt underdressed and out of place. It was interesting seeing everyone pay tribute to their favorite characters from different series. People really are creative! I didn’t buy anything, nor did I sit in on any panels or workshops. I more so walked through just to get a good idea of what happens in these types of events. None of the collectibles or crafts caught my attention, but seeing it catch the attention of my peers and other cosplayers in the hall was interesting to watch and observe as their faces lit up with something they are so passionate about. The most striking aspect was the sense of community and belonging that the convention fostered among young people. IAs we have talked about, fandom provides a space for identity formation and a social connection, especially for people who feel isolated in a regular school or work environment. The way attendees interacted with each other made me happy because I know the conventions serves as a safe haven in a way for people to express their passions without any fear or judgement from others.
This is more than just a form of entertainment for them, it plays into their cultural identity, whether it be their own culture or not. The way individuals would present themselves and, based off the merchandise they’d buy, it was evident they were eager to celebrate themselves and their identities openly and proudly. It sort of reminded me of Indian conventions which are actually also held in Tampa. Indian expos gather the Indian community where vendors sell desi style clothing, traditional food, and holds choregraphed dances ranging from Bollywood hip-hop fusion to traditional/classic elements. I just know how at home I feel in these events, and I was happy to see others feel the same way at Metrocon. I enjoyed how hybridity was celebrated with the influence of both Western comics and Japanese anime and culture. I honestly didn’t give much thought to anything in the moment, but I am glad and in awe to be reflecting on everything now and see how things look from different perspectives once you know the history behind it or the reason as to why conventions like these occur and why they have become so popular. As we continue to explore the role of fandom in cultural identity formation, experiences like Metrocon offer valuable insights into the evolving landscape of youth culture.
P.S. I felt awkward taking a pic when I wasn't even dressed correctly, but I tried to take an aesthetic pic of my friend!

I'm here just to ramble a bity bit
some days ago (last weekend) here was an anime expo, i couldn't go cuz money, but meh
anyways, a friend said the only yuri/GL stuff she saw to buy something there was Citrus...
while for BL even national authors were selling their works? like broad variety in comparison
this is annoying, and sad
rn i wanna go to an event (+18 tho...) just to check how invisible the small "GL" in their promotion should be (like i don't expect anything, i wanna go just to check if i find stuff and hopefully good)
also the other day i lit commented to a manga store insta post "we need more GL" because it was like the 3rd post with at least 2 BL works they got in the month! i was told "we hope to bring more" i know... i wish they bring stuff licensed in english just to have a bit more, but it wont happen
(and the one store that bring stuff from editorials in english has all in english out of stock for over a year?)

crystal in korea part one: Busan
During Golden Week, AKA the week in May with a long string of holidays that basically gives everyone a week off, I headed to South Korea with my friends for a short trip. It was my first time going there and I was very excited to experience a new country and culture! I did a lot of things, but I want to briefly share about my trip to Seoul and Busan. Since I have a lot to cover, I'll just talk about Busan in this post and Seoul in the next post.
We flew first into Busan for a few days before going to Seoul. Busan is actually close enough to Kyushu that you can normally take a boat there, but the boat service has been down since the beginning of COVID, so we had to fly. The flight was incredibly short, maybe about one hour, since Korea is very close.
After landing at the Busan airport, we ate bulgogi, which is thin slices of barbequed beef. It was so good, but a bit spicy, which is the trend for Korean food in general.
Tumblr media
Next we headed to the strip by Haeundae Beach where our lodging was located. They had some beautiful outdoor art installations for World Expo 2030. I'm not sure what exactly that meant, but the art was really beautiful.
Tumblr media
Next we made a quick stop at a convenience store. They are much like Japanese convenience stores, but something they have that Japan doesn't are drink packs. You can buy a plastic cup prefilled with ice and then choose your drink pack from a selection of teas, coffees, and fruit drinks (called -ades like lemonade, cranberry ade, apple ade, etc.) Japan sells a lot of tea and some sweet drinks, but not quite as sweet and fruity as these, so I was in heaven. I tried various fruit teas and ades and they were so delicious. I particularly liked the Plum Apple Ade.
Tumblr media
In the late afternoon, we headed to the famous Haedong Yonggung Temple by the seaside. On the way up, we passed some food stalls and I made the most important food discovery of the trip, hotteok. It's like a fried dough pancake with a filling of brown sugar and nuts. It was seriously amazing. I wanted to eat 20 more, but I contained myself.
Tumblr media
At the entrance of the temple grounds, there was a line of statues of each of the zodiac animals as an anthropomorphic figure.
Tumblr media
We came down some steps to find the temple buildings themselves and they were so breathtaking. I've always loved Japanese temple architecture, which evolved from Chinese temples, and you can see the similarities with Korean temples as well. But the main difference between the temples in Japan and Korea is that Korean temples are painted in very vibrant colors, which was absolutely beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Off to the side of the temple was a golden Buddha statue. You could also buy a gold leaf and write a message on it.
Tumblr media
After the temple, we headed back into the city center to get some Korean barbeque. Korean barbeque has gained a lot of popularity worldwide, and there are many places even in the US where you can enjoy it!
At Korean barbeque, you order a course of food, and you're brought several kinds and cuts of meat, vegetables, and other various sides. A barbeque pit is lit in the middle of the table and a fan hangs down over the pit to absorb any of the barbeque smoke. I'm not well versed in Korean foods, so I can't really name or describe most of them, but they were very delicious. Many people eat barbeque by wrapping a piece of meat in lettuce and adding sauce, kimchi, or other sides.
Tumblr media
We also enjoyed soju, Korean liquor with our meal. I love soju and drink it often in the US and Japan as well. They can come in various flavors and you can mix them or just drink them straight. I'm not a big alcohol fan, but soju is so smooth and delicious, it hardly tastes like alcohol, so I like it a lot. Please try it if you're able!
Modern Korea, like Japan, puts a lot of importance on aesthetic. Therefore you can find many cute stores and cafes anywhere you go. The next morning we went to a food chain called Egg Drop which sells egg sandwiches, hash browns, and coffee. It was soooo delicious and reminded me of breakfast back home. It was in this place also that I squirted sugar syrup meant for coffee on my hands, thinking it was hand sanitizer. Ah, the joys of being in a foreign country where you don't know what you're doing and make a fool of yourself.
Tumblr media
Next we went to the Gamcheon Culture Village, a town known for its colorfully painted houses and shops. Unfortunately it was a bit rainy this morning, but we were still able to enjoy the vibrant colors of the buildings and go souvenir shopping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the top of the hill, there is a popular statue of The Little Prince from the French storybook. His presence really adds to the whimsy of the place.
Tumblr media
On the way out of the culture village, there was various graffiti around. We found one that read "punk is dad," which was very funny, so I took a picture with it.
Tumblr media
Next we went to the Trick Eye Museum, which was a large photo spot exhibit where you can pose with images to create various illusions. For example, you can make it look like a giant sea creature is eating you or that you're doing a handstand by laying on the floor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, I split off from the group to go to Busan Tower by myself, since my friends wanted to go shopping and I wanted to see more tourist spots. The grounds of Busan Tower were very lovely, with a large memorial bell, a flower clock, and various statues.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I bought a ticket to reach the top of the tower and was surprised to find some interesting art installments at the top in addition to the city view. One room was painted all in neon paint and lit by black lights.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next, I did some shopping then met back up with my friends at the huge Jagalchi fish market. Despite living in Japan, I was never really interested in fish markets as tourists spots, so I had never been to one. But it was so interesting to see the rows and rows of hundreds of booths peddling all kinds of sea creatures. The second floor of the fish market was a huge cafeteria, so you could buy fish down below and then bring it up to the next level to cook and eat it. I didn't buy or eat anything, but I enjoyed just walking around and taking it in.
Tumblr media
The next day we spent the afternoon at Haeundae Beach. It was still too cold to swim, so we just bought snacks and drinks at the convenience store and had a picnic. Since you can buy prefilled ice cups and packets of drinks, we mixed soju and fruit drinks to make delicious cocktails.
Tumblr media
Along the beach were some giant sculptures made of sand. Many of them were still in progress, but they were so cool.
Tumblr media
We then stopped at a restaurant for lunch and had gimbap (like a sushi roll) and a kind of soup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From there we headed back to the seaside to get on the Blue Line seaside train. They have small pod-like cars that you can reserve as well, but they were sold out, so we just took the normal train. But it was still very beautiful. We got on just as the sun was setting and enjoyed watching the sunset over the coast.
Tumblr media
After this we stopped for dinner to eat Busan's famous dish dwaeji gukbap, pork rice soup. It was very warm, delicious, and filling.
Tumblr media
With that, we headed back to our accommodation and the next morning we got up bright and early to take the train into Seoul. Tune in to part two to hear about my time in Seoul!
Thanks for reading <3

Week Three & Week Four
Testing the device
At this point, I don't know yet what is my intention for my device but only one idea came to it was checking where the air goes in the site. I tried to position it to different angles, sides, or even go outside to test my device.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I talked to Rafik about my device and explained what my device is. He gave me an idea of my device it could be something that is really interesting because it could go different sides, angles, and even rotating it. Another idea he gave is it could be a passage through or could be a walk path going up and filled with plants.
Rafik also gave me a bulding design which is a Brisitish Pavillion in Shanghai, China. This British Pavillion is filled with allumium tubes where it lit up the building by natural lighting during morning time and night time will lit up. Also, the pavillion was filled with different seeds.
Flowers & Plants in Wintergardens
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the flowers & plants got me intrigue to research for and could use to my design for the site.
Plant Research
SANTAN FLOWER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Santan Flower called as West Indian Jasmine or Ixora coccinea. When I was a kid I used to sip the nectar of this flower and it has a sweet taste after sipping the nectar I made them as jewellery such as, ring & necklace. It usually grow in Tropical countries. Other people use it as a snack as they fry it in oil.
BLUE THROATWORT as Trachelium Caeruleum
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trachelium Caerulem, which means "Blue Throatwort is a flowering plant species in a group of Campanulaceae native to the Mediterranean countries, and it has become naturalised in a few areas of New Zealand and other parts of mainland Europe.
Blue Throatwort is growing up to 120cm (47in) tall by 30cm (12in) wide. It is also an erect perennial, a woody-based with oval leaves and dense cushions of violet-purple flowers in summer. Still, it usually turns dark blue depending on the temperate climate because this plant grows half-hardy during summer. It has a variety of flower colours, including white, red, pink, and dark purple.

PLUMES COCKSBOMB as Celosia Argentea
Tumblr media
Part of Celosia is a "rooster" plant because its comb of flowers is an overgrown receptacle in which small flowers sit tightly. In Greek words, they call it "Kelos" which means a "burning, blazing" plant and is explained by the bright color and shape of its blooming plant. This plant has various colors, such as purple, orange, green, or multiple colors. Plumed cockscomb is a stunning miniature potted plant that can be used as a decoration for sunny balconies. Celosia Argentea can be found in some regions of Asia, Africa, and North and South America, where it grows in warm climates. This plant is widely grown as a food crop.
The exciting fact about Celosia Argentea is that it is not poisonous; humans or animals can eat it and be used as an alternative spinach with a similar taste. In South Africa, some varieties of Celosia have grown leafy greens. In Nigeria, leaves are added to stews with onions, eggplants, meat, fish, or other species.
