Here's one of the earliest Daniel Spellbound artifacts! At the end of my first day with Matt Fernandes in Toronto, January 2020, we basically mapped out the entire first season. Amazingly, outside of losing one character (Moe) and an episode 10 we could not physically animate (sorry homage-to-The-Raid), it stayed shockingly close to this original outline.  There are a few vestigial pieces of things we couldn’t do that still made it into the show. Originally, the Dowser armor was going to be a brand new thing for the Bureau - because it was the only thing that could protect anyone from the Dark Mage’s spell. But when we had to lose the original conception for the final fight scene, that idea kind of faded away. The other BIG thing on here that did not make it into the final show (but you can still see a few pieces of it in the actual series) is “Tabasco.”  When the character Moe was in the series, Daniel and Moe would greet by fist bumping and saying “Tabasco.” Hoagie did not know what it meant and was going crazy trying to figure it out.  When Viktor tried to ally himself with Daniel at the end, he knew the code “Tabasco” too! The reveal was Daniel and his father had a secret code word that only made sense to them so that they would know they weren't dealing with a shapeshifter or someone under duress. The word was "Tabasco" because Duncan loved hot sauce. Viktor knowing the code word proved to Daniel that at some point, Viktor and Duncan were close friends.   The end of Season One would have Hoagie in the inner circle, hoof bumping Daniel to “Tabasco.” I also added some shots of our actual Daniel Spellbound writer rooms. We were one of the first pandemic rooms, meeting on Zoom for the first time in March 2020! There are several members of our team that I still have not physically met in person. Very proud of what we were able to pull off.
